A bit about myself and my history on Gaia
My name is Carter. I was born in Panama City, FL, and have lived all over the U.S. since I was a kid. I am a USAF veteran, and now a rad tech student. What I consider my first step to becoming an oncologist.I consider myself a deeply sentimental person, and have a hard time letting go of what I consider good in my past, even if I'm fully aware that I'm wearing rose colored glasses. sweatdrop I always considered the happiest time of my life when I was younger and my father and grandparents were still alive, but the funny thing is life is objectively better as an adult with freedom and minimal debt to my name haha. I can go wherever the wind takes me and help people in need. I say that, but I'm fairly certain I'm coming back to Florida and staying.
Gaia was a big part of my adolescence, and I'm so happy I somehow maintained access to my 17 year old account after a long hiatus.
As one of those text boxes says, I used to go by different names. I originally signed up with the name "902 snake" because part of what attracted me to Gaia was how customizable the avatars were, and I remember this cosplay of Solid Snake from the game franchise Metal Gear Solid is what made me sign up. The 902 part was random. A couple years in around 2010, I invited my best friend at the time to join Gaia, and he couldn't think of a user name, so he called himself "903 snake" (lol). I took no issue with this, but I realized maybe someone would get us confused for some reason, or maybe I just wanted to stand out more, so I ended up changing my name to "-Blue luma-" because I had my avatar as the Hermes Moon rabbit for years, and that reminded me of the bunny forms of the Lumas in Super Mario Galaxy. Nowadays my presence online pretty much everywhere is LazrGatr, so I decided to take that name before anyone else could. (The capitalization error in "luma" also really bothered me too).
I gotta tell you, the things I miss the most about Gaia are Towns, Virtual Hollywood, and especially the Playlist world. OG Towns is still on Gaia, but it simply does not load my avatar and I can't move or talk. Idk if anyone else is facing this issue, but the fact remains I can't use it lol. As of writing this (February 26th, 2025), Virtual Hollywood still exists on Gaia, but I'm not kidding when I say I'm the only one who uses it. The world used to be a tie-in with MTV's reality show "The Hills". Later on the branding was removed. Like I said though, no one uses it, and when no one uses a part of the website, Gaia is known to remove it just like Playlists. The Playlist world was this home theatre room where you could make a playlist of YouTube vids, and I loved hosting these rooms and watching others. These rooms are also where I discovered The Angry Video Game Nerd. I asked someone a long time ago (pretty sure it was staff) why it was removed, and they told me it was because no one used it. neutral
Well, that's my history on this site. I was mainly active from 2008 to around 2013. After I left, this site apparently suffered an administrative and economic apocalypse. I'm glad to see Gaia is still around and hope it somehow experiences a true renaissance. The nostalgic part of me wishes the old friends I interacted with would log on again and send a DM telling me how they're doing, and what they've been doing with their lives, but that of course is wishful thinking. I highly doubt any of them even remember me or our interactions, let alone their login info lol.
This account will never be deleted, and will stand as a time capsule to my youth so long Gaia survives. One day I will log off for the last time just like everyone else already has on my friends list, and I'll leave this all behind me. Like I said already though, I have a hard time letting go.
Thanks for visiting, PMs/DMs are and will always be open. smile
