A Test of Weak Willpower
Money Makes the World Go Round
Time for my mini-rant on botting.

Botting is an issue on Gaia, we all know that, luckily steps have been taken to drastically minimize the impact of botting on the economy and to make it a lot harder for bots to make gold. Yay.

I could care less about that really. You see, the thing isn't that there are random bots infesting Gaia that makes botting a rampant thing, no, the thing that makes botting rampant is the greed of users. Users are greedy so they get easy to access botting tools. Users are greedy and so they buy gold off of gold selling sites from bots. Gold sellers are greedy so they have massive networks of bots generating gold for them. Greed. ******** greed.

It doesn't stop there. Why are users so desperate for gold? Because of greed. Users want lots and lots of gold because they can't buy jack on the market. After four months of circulation, most donation items start to approach the 100k mark already. Once donation items reach a certain number their rate of inflation becomes relative; rather then rising a few k every month, it rises 50k, or 100k, or even a million. Older users always love to use the "well I worked hard for mine, they should too!" but the argument is flawed when an item you worked for last year has quadrupled in price going from 1 million to 4 million. Gold's easier to get, but not to such a degree that making 4 million is just like making 1 million. It's still harder to make 4 million now then it was to make 1 million then. We are of course assuming you're a fresh account starting with nothing and working your way up there through acceptable means.

So you know what? Stop being so damn greedy people. If you stop being greedy then things might just not be so expensive. Maybe, just maybe, I won't have to spend 4 hours banning people for buying gold and ruining their time on Gaia because they're not just out an account and nifty items, they're out real money.

I spent four minutes and $2 to get my Emo Bag. I'd hardly call that working hard. I spent eight months and 2.25mil to get my AFK & OMG - which means I didn't work as hard as necessary to pay the going price (3mil each) at the time of purchase.

Not only do the newbies have to work harder than the oldbies for their items, the oldbies didn't necessarily work all that hard to begin with.
