Dear Diary, What should I say today?
Dear Diary, It has been so long.
Lillian frowned as she stared down at the worn and dirty box. How long had this old thing been sitting there for? It looked like it hadn't been opened in years.

The sixteen year old reached behind her to locate her box cutter. She smiled as her hand touched the plastic end of the razor. After finding it, the teen brought it down on the tape covering the box.

"Whoa!" Lillian cried with a choke as the dust burned her throat and lungs. There was so much of it on the box that after she had opened it, the particles had launched themselves into her system. It could be seen from her state that she was not comfortable with the feeling.

"Now...what is it?" She whispered as she cautiously peered into the box. What she saw was...newspaper?

"That can't be right...there must be more here." Lillian reached into the cardboard box and dug through the old papers. "Ah ha!" She knew there must have been something in there.

Lillian pulled her arm out of the box and stared at what was in her grasp. One of her old diaries, the ones she always bought expecting to write something in it and...well...never getting around to do it. All she wanted from those books was truthfully, the pretty covers.

Lil peered at it's bright floral pattern on the cover, a group of fairies dotted around the flowers. As if they were dancing to some unknown and unheard of tune infront of her very eyes. The words Dream imprinted on the lower right hand corner in a beautiful golden text.

"Well....let's see what I had on my mind in...nineteen ninety eight?! Wow...was I young."

Lillian opened up the basically brand new journal and stared down at her messy writing in pencil from all those years ago.

Dear Diary, August 12th, 1998
Hello there! How are you today? I am gooodgood. Nothing much is going on. Mom and Dad are gone, again. Now I have a little brother, he's really cute. Hes He's really cute too! He has brown hair and his eyes are slits. It's creepy. Nanny says they will open all the way soon. I hope so. His name is Tyson. I think that name is weird. Why would mom and dad name him that? It's sounds like a tidal wave. They are so weird. They named me Lillian. No one has the name Lillian. I wish I was named a good name like Mary, or Sarah. A lot of girls have that name. Well, Nanny has made me a pb&j sandwich. I have to go! Bye diary! I'll talk with you later!
Love,
Lillian

"Wow..." Lillian just stared at her writing. She used to be so bad at it, she could see that she had repeated cute and her spelling was alittle off. Her little chicken writing as a child was small and messy thanks to the lead. Now the chicken writing she stared at in her hands that was nestled in the sheets of paper of the book, had become big with age. "I remember when I used to hate my name. Now I like it...but Ty's name is still so weird." She recalled, thinking back to the days she would imagine herself as another person with a better and less weird name.

The teenager lsuddenly laughed, realizing she had been talking to herself. "What a dork I am...well, up I go!" She told herself as she continued to talk to no one but her own mind.

Lillian then stood, holding onto the diary as she examined it,"Well...I have a new life ahead of me. I might as well keep it and see if I'll actually write in the annoying thing."

With that the girl turned and walked back up the garage stairs and into her home. Being greeted by Tyson's wide smile from where he sat on the couch with their great dane Marm.

"You look comfy...scoot over, I'm squeezing in." Lillian announced as she scooched her rear in the middle between Marm and her little brother.

Tyson eyed the new book his sister had brought up from the garage,"What's that?" He asked as he pointed to the old diary.

"Oh, just my new memory keeper." Lillian replied returning her brothers wide smile from just a few moments earlier.

Tyson frowned as his eyes scanned the cover, as he thought of what he should think of such a thing,"It's....pretty...right lots of stories in it that you can tell me."

"Alright but--" Lillian was suddenly cut off by her younger brother shushing her, very annoyed now that she was interrupting his show that just came on,"Fine, fine...don't care--" Again she was shushed and this time she actually stayed quiet. Her mind racing with what to fill her new book with.
