Of Demis and Such.. the Written Word.
Intro: Of Ogico and Demis
Il Ogico is a small island that is one of many in a string of islands known as Demico. Both open and secluded, these islands derived their name from their peculiar inhabitants: the demi-humans.

What is a demi-human? The demi-humans, otherwise known as 'demis', have always inhabited Demico as far as they are concerned. They are an anthromorphic race with as many variations among themselves as there are types of flowers in the world. They also have an interesting ability hidden beneathe their humble appearance. Apart from possessing the talents usually bestowed upon their given species, a demi is also capable of transforming completely into the animal that they most strongly resemble. Though a seemingly useless ability, it does have its good points. In their animal forms, a demi uses less energy and has a sharp increase in ability and instinct. Staying too long in this form, however, can result in a permanent transformation and loss of human consciousness.

Physically, the most striking feature of a demi are the ears and tail, though occassionally other animalistic features are seen, such as prominent feet, eyes, or fur. The most common species, of course, are the 'domestic' types; often sporting canine or feline qualities that can range from beautiful to bizarre.

Less common types are 'wilds'. These can resemble many of the uncommon creatures in the world such as: badgers, skunks, stags, hares, and an occassional bird. Though animalistic, demis are never equestrian.
Hybrid species and interbreeding is possible, though considered taboo among the demis. Their lifestyle is a simple one and they prefer to stay close to nature and include it as much as possible in their daily routine.

They are a caring race and are known to possess a penchant for mischief. Though loyal and good-natured, most possess a primal mean streak that will flare when they are either cornered or severely aggrivated. They usually stay with their families upon reaching adulthood, providing for and taking care of each other for generations.
