Adventure #3: The First Fight
It was a dark and stormy day. Tara loved these kind of days, although it meant that she couldn't take Kali and Gwee out flying with the ducks. Instead, they all stayed inside and did arts and crafts.
Tara sat by the window watching the rain while Kali and Gwee colored pictures in. They were getting along very well, Tara noticed. They almost got in a fight about who should get to use the pink crayon next, but Gwee avoided a fight by breaking the crayon in half so they could share. This made Tara smile. She was glad her little friends were getting along so well together.
Kali, who had actually taken off her fairy wings she used to fly, walked over to Tara holding a picture. Gwee flew over too, holding a picture as well.
"TARA! REMEMBER YOUR BIRTHDAY PARTY?" Kali said excitedly. "Well I was talking to your friend Cuter, and she said she was holding an art contest!"
"Oh yeah, I remember her mentioning that."
"WELL!" Gwee said loudly, "We drew pictures for her contest! Wanna see mine?"
"Sure Gwee!" Tara said happily, wondering what Gwee had drawn.
"OK!" Gwee smiled brightly as she held out the picture for Tara to see.
"I DREW ZARA!" Gwee said, doing somersaults in the air.
"Oh yes, I remember her from the contest. She loves strawberries, right?"
"YES!" Kali interupted. "I DREW HER TOO!" she said as she showed Tara her picture.
"That's very cute Kali!" Tara smiled.
"AND MINE ISN'T CUTE?" Gwee cried.
"No Gwee your picture is...." Tara started..
"YOURS IS UGLY GWEE!" Kali said, sticking out her tounge. "Mine is so much better."
"No Kali, yours isn't..." Tara started again.
"NO YOURS IS UGLY KALI!" Gwee started towards Kali, a her eyes glowing red, and started to breathe fire.
"GWEE NO!" Tara scooped Gwee into her arms to prevent her from harming Kali. "YOU BE NICE TO YOUR SISTER!" Tara yelled at the both of them.
"Sister?" Gwee and Kali both said, looking up at Tara.
"Errrr...well that's what my mom always used to say when my brothers would pick on me. You two fighting kinda reminded me of that...." Tara said nervously.
"You mean...." Gwee said with tears in her eyes, "we are a family? A real family?"
"Of course we are Gwee. We all love and take care of each other. That's what a family is all about." Tara said, picking up Kali now too.
"I LOVE YOU TARA!" Kali and Gwee both declared, hugging Tara tightly.
"I love you guys too." Tara said, then looked sternly at Gwee. "Now, families may fight, but they never actually harm each other. Promise me you won't ever use your fire again unless it is to protect me or Kali."
"I promise you Tara!" Gwee said hugging Tara again. Tara hugged her and Kail back, finally crying the tears she had been holding back. So on that stormy day, a family was born. A mis-matched crazy family, but a family none the less. Because in the end, all we really have is our family and friends.
