The Snow Maiden is a beautiful creature that comes from the Snow Kingdom in Alaska and she comes from the Snow Palace where “The royal ones live.” I actually come from the palace (isn’t that such a surprise?). I’m royalty and believe me it’s not easy. You know why? Because we work really hard to make winter as beautiful as possible before we bring it to the world for everyone to see and enjoy. The rest of my people live outside the palace walls, but there is a giant stone wall around the village that protects them and also helps to keep most of the cold weather out. We have specific names for the guys and the girls. The girls are called Dames and the men are called Messieurs.
I left my home when I was younger and I fell madly in love with a vampire. It doesn't upset my people because we have been allies with vampires for centuries. I'm the first one to ever leave the safety of my home and go to explore the world beyond the walls of my village. I have a child and I named her Asumi and she's such a sweetheart and we both love her so much, but I know I have to return home. I told my little girl that I had to go, but mommy was going to be back. She wouldn’t stop crying it was so sad to see my baby girl cry like that I knew she didn’t want mommy to go. I patted her head and hugged my husband kissing him on the lips then kissing my daughter on the head hugging her. I then gathered my things up and left, sad to be leaving them for I don’t know how long.
I’m pregnant with another child and I hope this stressful situation that is happening before me doesn’t harm my baby. We already decided to name her Winter because it's a beautiful strong name. Anyways yesterday my father came to visit me and he asked me to come home as soon as possible that something happened to my mother. As soon as I entered back into the village I could feel some type of dark force was at work and everyone seemed sad and depressed. They were just sitting on their porches staring at me probably hoping that I can fix whatever problem was at work here.
My legs just started moving on my own and I was running towards the inner walls of the palace scared out of my mind and the eyes they were just staring at me it was really creepy in a way. As soon as I entered my father greeted me and told me everything that was happening. My mother had been kidnapped and I was not only thinking no in my head I was screaming it out loud. Why is this happening to my family? All of a sudden realization hit me and I knew it was my time to stand up and help not only the people I love, but help my people out that I would someday rule.
I couldn't lose any of the people I would rule one day or they would never respect me again and I just knew it. I knew for one thing Winter wasn't going to be safe, but I knew I had no choice, but to save my mother. My mother didn’t name me Snow just because it was a pretty name she named me Snow because I have an amazing gift to help the one’s out that I love. My mom always told me there was something special inside me now it was time to see if what she said was really true. So, I walked outside and looked up at the sun and started to chant a spell and the moon appeared and rose up into the sky and blocked the sun causing a lunar eclipse.
I was really surprised that the moon had obeyed my call. I guess my mom was right I really had a special gift! I remembered my mom telling me if the moon did obey me it would only last three hours before the moon would destroy the sun if I didn’t turn it back in time. I really don’t want to live in eternal darkness it would be really scary. I ran across the snowy ground at 60 mph.
I chanted another spell and the sky made an arch of moonlight that pointed me to my destination of where my mother was at. I didn’t know I was so powerful! I just realized I had an amazing gift and if I could use it I could save my mother! I felt a sharp pain in my back and then I heard skin tearing and felt bones breaking. I then felt something rip right out of my back and I looked back noticing two pure white wings unfolding and stretching out.
Then, they came out and they were six feet tall and they towered over me. I tried to move them, but they just wouldn’t move. I tried again and got them to move slightly. I realized that I had to use my muscles in the wings to help me control them because they had little tiny bones in them that could most likely break easily. I started to flap them and raised a little off the ground and fell.
I tried again and managed to get four feet off the ground I swooped and tittered. I finally got the hang of it and soared into the sky ready to follow the streak that would lead me to my mom. I just didn’t know what I may have to fight on the way or what new powers I may find out about myself. As I flew I felt this unusual power I never felt before coursing through my very veins that I didn’t know if I could control it. I knew my mother was right that I Snow Moon am truly a powerful goddess that was called a Snow Maiden and I’m the one the gods had chosen to save and watch over my people.
I thought it was only a story my mother would tell me as a child, but it wasn’t it was true all along not some dumb myth. I tittered and tried to land on the ground because I was getting out of energy and my wings were killing me, but somehow I manage to land on my feet and I felt the ground shake under me. That’s when I knew my powers were only going to get stronger if I kept practicing. I felt another presence and I knew I wasn’t alone. I saw in the distance something really strange and weird.
I decided not to approach it till I could figure out how to make a weapon with my power and I prayed that it wouldn’t notice me here stumbling around trying to figure out how to use my powers. I chanted a spell my mom had taught me that was supposed to summon a weapon and all of a sudden a magical compound bow appeared in my hand. I just stared at it shocked for like five minutes and then I heard footprints coming towards me. I saw that thing I didn’t know what it was and it was running towards me! It looked like it was made out of snow and I still didn’t know how to use this bow!
The monster that’s what I’m assuming what it was it wasn’t moving very fast so I had some time to get ready and think about the thing my dad had taught me. It was about the steps to using a bow properly when I was younger. I failed miserably at trying to use a bow when I was young, but I was older now so maybe I could do it all I had to do was follow his steps and I should be successful. So, first thing is your stance and posture. So, you would hold the bow with your non dominant hand and stand at a right angle to the target. Have your toes against an imaginary line and stand tall making sure your balance.
Most important thing my dad taught me is RELAX WHEN YOU’RE HOLDING A BOW DON’T GET TOO STRESSED OUT! It went on for about another ten minutes of me trying to figure out how to use the bow when I finally got to the very last step and that was to release the arrow and pray you hit the target. I watched the arrow soar across the field as it lit on fire heading towards where the monster was at. It hit it right in the heart and the monster burst into flames and fell to the ground melting. I smiled proud of myself for figuring out how to use a bow.
I didn’t realize my powers were such an incredible thing just to know that the arrow would adjust to what type of enemy it was so it would usually kill it on the first try depending on it’s strength. I sighed and made the bow disappear as I soar once again up into the sky ready to kick some butt. I landed about twenty minutes later at my destination and I observed where I was at until I heard somebody yelling from the house. I ran towards the house ready to kick down a door if needed too. I slammed my foot so hard against the door the wood splintered and went everywhere.
I was so furious my usually blue eyes were now silver with purple flecks in them and my snow white hair had turned to a golden color. I searched for the house listening to any sound of noise or commotion and then I heard something move downstairs. So, I ran towards the steps and slammed against the door making it open and I made sure my presence was noticed. I looked down the steps and realized it was pitch black. Great another problem!
I focused in on my energy and let out a deep breath opening my eyes and there was a blue flame flickering in my hand. Yes, it work! I got light now! I moved carefully down the stairs so I wouldn’t trip and fall because if I did I could harm Winter. I didn’t want to hurt my unborn baby and then I noticed there was a hole in one step I dodged around it and continued to the bottom. It took me about two mins to get down because I was being way too cautious, but I had to be.
I looked around once I landed safely on the ground and noticed a woman in the corner tied up. I moved closer being cautious because I didn’t know if it was a trick or not. It was so amazing it was actually my mother she was alive!! She was okay! I took the handkerchief around her mouth off and she smiled at me.
“Thank you,” she said.
“You’re welcome mom, I’m just so glad you are safe!” I replied.
“Watch out there is someone behind you!”
I dodged out of the way at the last minute in shock. I looked at the man standing there glaring at me rather angrily and I decided to summon my courage up. I made a sword appear in my hand and this was a weapon I was familiar with and I knew how exactly to use it. I swung it towards the man and he dodged it. I glared at and started to stalk him like a cat would when it was going to pounce on it’s prey.
I wasn’t going to die here not now when I had a beautiful child on the way. I lunged at him and cut his arm smiling happy with my strike. I honed in on my powers and summoned a blizzard in the room as the windows slammed open and off their hinges. He was distracted and couldn’t see my movements any longer so I attacked him slamming him into the ground. I put my hand where his heart was at and I summoned all my strength to freeze his fiery heart.
A wave of anger struck across his face as his body grew stiff and began to freeze. I knew it would only last so long because he had fire powers which could thaw things and out and destory me. I summoned an ice dagger in my hand slammed it into his heart and he gasped for air so I slammed it harder finally killing him. I didn't care that I had taken his life because nobody kidnaps my mom and gets away with it not as long as I am alive. I finally untied my mom and she seemed to be really happy. I helped her walk out of the house because she had hurt her leg and I knew we couldn’t fly home with her injured leg.
So, we started to walk and she told me to stop that she can summon a snow sled with dogs that could carry us home. I smiled as I watched her work her magic and hoped one day with the proper training and mentor from my mom I would be able to do so much more. When we got home the whole kingdom rejoiced and I knew I was the hero they foretold about. I knew now that I was an amazing girl with powers so extraordinary like my mom and that one of my children or maybe both of them will end up with the gift I have so I could train them to be just like me and my mom. I would let my mom determine if Asumi had my powers and maybe we could start to train her along with me.
If my mom could train Asumi at a young age it will really help her powers to be better maybe than mine when she gets older. My powers weren’t a curse and I knew it they were a gift of great responsibility so I decided I had to tell Asumi who were mommy was and let her decide if she wants to accept that she has a gift or ignore it like I did when I was a child. I decided I was going to accept this gift so I could better understand it and help my daughter better understand it to. I chanted softly and the moon went back to where it belongs till the day was over. I hopped onto the sleigh to head home with my mom to probably be praised and given gifts for the courageous thing I had did.
The world finally felt like it was at peace and as soon as I entered the village everyone was cheering and clapping for me. I looked towards the palace and saw my father standing outside waiting for me. I noticed something strange though my husband and my six year old daughter Asumi was standing there waiting for me. My dad must have asked them to come to celebrate my return home from my dangerous mission that could have cost my life and my baby’s life. As soon as I arrived there me, my mother and Asumi went off to the side.
I explained everything to Asumi and what she told me shocked me more then my mother. She said I am willing to learn to use my powers wisely mommy so please train me. I just broke down and started crying hearing my own daughter say that to me. I knew she was going to make an amazing Snow Maiden and she was truly the next one in my bloodline. My mom had given birth to me and I became a Snow Maiden.
Now my daughters were going to both be Snow Maidens at some point in their lives I hoped. The girls only receive the power of the Snow Maiden and that was a gift and miracle in itself. I decided to try to learn more about the women in my past that had also been Snow Maidens because it would be a good place to start. First, we had a celebration for my return home and then I would start doing research and training with my mother and daughter. My mother told me that we are eternal beings unless our powers are stolen or we are killed by fire. My mother had told me that my grandmother had died from her powers being stolen she started to grow older and then later on in her life she died at age eighty. Another one of my family members which was my aunt was set on fire by the same people that had attacked my grandmother and kidnapped my mom. It was horrible knowing this stuff could happen to us at any given time. I knew for a fact my major objective was to stay close to my family and protect the ones I love. I went back to the state I lived to got my stuff and returned home to stay and live there within the protective walls of my homeland. My life went on as normal and five months later I had a beautiful healthy child that I named Winter and she grew up to become a beautiful strong young women just like her mother and older sister.
