After traveling through the forest a lengthy ways, under fallen logs and over small brooks, we made it home.
Or at least the horizontal traveling was done. I quickly jumped atop a fallen log and started walking it's length. It was still suspended atop branches of another mighty oak, so i was able to get up into the branches of the trees that way.
The branch the fallen tree lead to acted as another pathway--once i got to the end of this branch, i jumped down.
I landed on the front porch of a large structure--our save haven. Our tree house. Our home. James landed beside me a moment later and started walking around the first house, up a roped bridge and to other sections of the house, all suspended in the air, clinging to the nearby trees and linked to one another with ropes bridges and latters.
James walked into Kevin's room, and i followed. Sure enough, pieces of wood lay on the ground and Ken sat in an open arch way, pouting down at us.
"He's too scared to jump down" James remarked.
"Nope!" Keven protested quickly, "I'll break something! not scared, just, picking the better option out! Plus we'll need someone up here to help, and i can't get back up after i jump down!" Keven tucked some of his black hair behind his ear, and fixed his glasses before he pushed himself up and sat on his knees to peer down at us better. "Is Mikey the only one you brought?"
"Who else do i need?" James protested, picking up a log and rolling it into place as the base for the stairs. Keven shrugged in response.
I sighed, "Top or bottom, m'dear?"
"You be bottom" James replied with a smirk, nodding his head toward the logs. Gah, even though James was shorter than I he always stuck me with working bottom on projects, giving me some bullshit excuse each time. He just wanted to do the majority of the work, look the best and all that. I was tacked down at second for everything. Although if it wasn't for the strength issue, i'm sure James would pick either of the girls over me. I walked over and sat atop of the logs and james moved the framework of the stairs over me, and pushed it into place.
"kay Mikey, hold it down" He murmered, grabbing some of the other chucks of wood and pushing them into place, using pressure to keep them tucked away. I held the framework down and against the wall so it wouldn't fall away before James pushed in some of the pieces that held it back. Although the pieces made it almost impossible for me to slip out.
"gaiii!" I pulled my hand back and put it in my mouth.
"Oh! crap, did i get your finger, mikey!?" James stammered quickly, "I didn't realize your hand was there! You should move your other hand so i don't hit that one."
"Ahuhimonthat" i replied quickly as i re positioned myself and ignored the blood dripping down my finger. Fun times. Fun times.
