take me away to my secret place
where these strangers know nothing of my face
a life on the run, in a shadow i hide
these nights have become a frightful ride
my past i can't outrun, my mind i cannot escape
i shall chase this fantasy that i can't help but make
running from abuse, running from shame
but most of all running from pain
these scars still ache, my eyes still sting
but i smile in the promise my future now brings
another new chapter, a fresh new page
is my escape from this anger and rage
in these streets i stride, on these rocks i walk
all the pain i bore was simply just talk
the sun in my face, the wind in my hair
my life not only beauty...but also despair
