Lessons Learned
I like writing :) You don't have to read nothin' but I feel the need to write it.
Lessons Learned: 1950s and Dancing

Da da da-da-da-da, da da da

Wow. I am just, beyond tired. All day Saturday, literally from 11AM-2PM. What did I dance, okay lets see. Lindy Hop, African Jazz, Hip-Hop, Samba, Foxtrot and Salsa. And yous always known that I've danced tango. So, Lindy Hop is like my favorite.

Today,er,yesterday...Sunday, I danced Lindy Hop all day. I tell you boy, I hate (obviously) the anti-feminism and racism and what have you in the past but there are some things I wouldn't mind seeing again. For the guys, I totally dug the fashion you know what I mean? Guys (not saying there are absolutely none out there and to you I tip my proverbial hat) cared what they looked like. Of course so did the women. All in all there was a certain type of class and respect I feel has died in our generation. For example; mad old ella fitzgerald, lil' richie, dizzy G. and what have you are classics and you'll hear them at weddings or fancy parties.

What are they going to play at our weddings? DJ Got Us Falling in Love Again? Poker Face? What nonsense.

It's strange, I suppose, having this twisted nostalgia for a world I never really knew. Am I saying that times past were the absolute best? No, I'm a minority female. Lets face it, any time before now kind of tanks for me. Do I wish there were some aspects I wish we could pull out (for both the guys and the dolls?) from times past? Yes.

You know, it's absolutely possible (lets face it, if it is anything after 65 mya I have no bloody clue) that I am basing all of this off of a dreamy, movie-based, nonsense idea...I still wouldn't mind it.

I think, well, that's why I like the lindy hop so much. It's fun for the sake of fun! There is no pressure to feel sexy, trendy or what have you. You just, dance for the sake of dancing. I have danced other dances, Tango and Salsa especially. Those dances have a certain...femininity isn't the word, but if I say "sex while dancing" you'll probably think of tango and if I say anything about those crazy hips you'll think salsa. I'm not saying every milonga I've gone to or what have you has been overtly sensual. Still, Tango (though more sensual) and the Foxtrot (what little I learned) are very...elegant, classy. Salsa and what little I know from Samba are for fun, but still a tad sexual. Lindy Hop, well, maybe I'm naive (I am probably very naive) but it feels like I'm playing tag with my friends from childhood. We're having fun, because we want to.

Now, why all this dancing nonsense and crazy 50s nostalgia?

Because lets face it, I am mad behind with roleplay posts sweatdrop

And I seem to find the happiness I seek when we're out together dancing cheek to cheek
