FAE: Also Known as Fairies, Fae Folk, Little People
Fairies are magical beings of the Other Realm. They vary in appearance and size depending on Geographical Location, Element and Season.
These factors also have an effect on their magic. Fairies range in size depending on their power the smallest being 6 inches (typical trouble maker) right up to 7 feet tall (Fairy lords and ladies) most fairies that you will encounter in the wild tend to fall in to the 6 inches to 1 foot in height. They appear human at first but upon closer inspection they hold a delicate beauty They are curious creatures, especially when it comes to human affairs
You will find that Some fairies favor a particular region over others (ie:Leprechauns and Ireland) and almost never wander from their place of comfort.
Traits of Fairies by Element
Earth Fairies:
Round features, curves on females, toned bodies on males.
light to dark brown skin
Hair color ranges from greens, pinks, blondes, browns, reds. Curly and thick.
Eyes range from browns to greens
clothing tends to be made from the plants around then
They make their homes in trees, caves, flower groves, hedges, burrows.
Water Fairies:
Webbed hands and feet, athletic body types
Pale to dark blue skin
Pale and dark blues, aqua, turquoise for hair colors, hair is thin and straight.
Eyes range in color with blues and aqua
They live along the shore, underwater caves, seaweed groves, near lakes and ponds living in the reeds.
Clothes are made out of seaweed and other aquatic plant life.
Fire Fairies:
Sharp body types and features
red to black skin
Hair colors range from bright to dark reds, very thick. Most fire fairies will keep their hair short or tied back. Some females will wear it long and down.
Eyes are normally red, rare times will they be black.
They like to live deep in the ground, near volcanoes, any place Warm.
For clothing they cover themselves in paint and a thin layer of clay
Wind Fairies:
wispy body types. slender, tiny.
Very pale blue or green skin color.
Hair is fine and flowy, pale blues, yellow and greens
Eyes are opaque to a pale, pale blue
They do not like to wear clothes, the higher region Wind Fairies (Mountain Fairies) will sometimes use fur of dead animals or clothing scraps left behind by humans.
They live in tree tops, abandoned bird nests and houses. crevaces in mountain sides
FAE HUNTING:
To track and Hunt Fae Folk normally for sport and pleasure.
There are a few people out there who hunt the Fae simply to return them to the safety of their realm. Fae hunting is not just restricted to fairies though and has been used when referring to hunting any mythical creature that wanders into the realm of humans (Golems, Griffons, Unicorns, etc) although fairies are the main prey.
There are a variety of Tools used in Catching Fae, Most people like to use the simple butterfly net made with Iron thread, these are most effective against the less powerful fairies. Darts and bullets designed to stun and disable Fae Magic have recently hit the black market. Guns, bows and other projectiles have been designed for taking on the Fae, most are made out of Iron, others have been enchanted against Fae magic by powerful Sorcerers.
Several devices have been made to aid those who do not have "The Sight"
Watches, PDAs, computers and even glasses have been developed to track the magic patterns of Fae and mythical creatures as they resonate The Old Magic compared to today's modern magic users. Where there are some people who still use the Old Magic there have been cases of Mistaken Identity. Some Fae hunters actually use the Devices to track down those who can use the old Magic, for what reasons no one is quite sure.
The Sight: A mystical ability that can only be passed on by Choice from one Family member to another but only through a direct Link (Father/Mother - Son/Daughter).
The sight allows the person to see creatures of mystical origin (Fairies, Unicorns, Golems, Dragons etc,) with out assistance of any kind. It is rare to find someone who holds the sight, well, at least someone who uses it and is open with it. Most people with the sight prefer to keep it hidden as they are often hunted and held captive for use of their abilities, other times they are killed or have their eyes cut out for their Unholy sin of an ability.
