Trying hard not to blog...
I Made a Mix-Tape
This journal's pretty much my own copypasta central. From somewhere else...

Sorce's Mixed-up Tape

Because it's fun to see what I actually retain.

"Darkness Falls"
The X-Files 1x20

Synopsis: Mulder and Scully go to the woods to investigate the disappearance of some lumberjacks from a logging community, and end up fighting eco-terrorists and killer fireflies.

Why I love it:
Sorce
It is probably one of (if not the) my favorites in the entire series. Why, you ask? Well, I could say things about badass huge trees, or retarded eco-terrorists, or glowing bugs, and they'd all be relatively legit, but it's not the primary reason. That reason would be the last line of the episode; where the government agent says that failure isn't an option. I was like "woah". Admittedly, it's not the real one, but that was the (one of) the first times where I saw the government as this "Don't ******** with us, we will annihilate you" entity, and I thought it was awesome.

"Over the Edge"
The New Batman Adventures 1x12

Synopsis: During a fight with the Scarecrow, Batgirl is ambushed on a rooftop and falls to her death. Having watched his daughter's demise, Jim Gordon blames Batman for her fate and vows revenge, even recruiting Bane in the process.

Why I love it: It was a great twist on the status quo, seeing the near-dissolution of the Bat-Family all under Gordon's watch. Batgirl's death, Nightwing's arrest, Bane killing Batman... of course this was a kid's show, so it ends up all being a fever dream of Babs' while under Scarecrow's Gas. There's just no hint of it until the last couple minutes of the show. It gave the audience a good insight into Babs' mind as well, and how she sees "the world" and her place in it.

"Window of Opportunity"
Stargate SG-1 4x06

Synopsis: O'Neill and Teal'c are caught in a time loop in the SGC, and must relive the same 10 hours over and over again.

Why I love it: For a while, whenever I'd turn on this show, it'd be this episode. So I've seen it a lot. It's basically Groundhog Day with military sci-fi. Wackiness ensues, from hitting golf balls into the open Stargate, a make-out session, continual doors to the face, etc. Of course, O'Neill and Teal'c have to find a way to fix the loop, and they do, but that wasn't really the point of the episode; we got to watch two of "our" main characters be hilarious both apart and together.

"In the Pale Moonlight"
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 6x19

Synopsis: Sick of the losses the Federation is taking in the war, Sisko enlists Garak's help to persuade the Romulans to join the Federation against the Dominion. Sisko soon learns that, to save the Federation, he must abandon the values it stands for.

Why I like it: Because you get to watch a good man do "what it takes" to make sure the good guys win. Also this monologue.

"DOUBLE LIPS"
PARANOIA AGENT x03

User Image

Synopsis: Harumi Chono possesses another hedonistic personality named Maria
who spends nights as a prostitute. When Harumi receives an offer of marriage from
a co-worker she decides to put a end to Maria - but Maria won't take it sitting down.

Why I love it: I'm one to really dig stories dealing with dissociative identity disorder, primarily because I see tragedy and intrigue in the subject and do like sometimes how the disorder is portrayed thematically or cinematically. This is Satoshi Kon, and there is always something worth seeing in his tales of struggle. The war of words between the two women is also quite interesting to hear.
