Heart Ache is the Reason for the Mask
The disfunctional life of a teenager, too smart for her own good...
Well, today marks the official start of Memorial Weekend...but I think that most of us have forgotten what "Memorial Day" is really about...it's not about the BBQs, it's not really even about gettin' friends and family together in the backyard...
For those of us who have family that Serve (in the Military), we know what it's really about...it's about remembering how lucky we are, how lucky we are to have the family we do. Memorial Day is about remembering those who've Served in the Military to protect us. Now and previously...Now for those of you who are like me, heh, who are completely against this war, and who utterly dispise the government, it may be hard to recognize that the soldiers out there are actually good people, actually, they are AMAZING people...I mean think about it, we bash them, yet we don't know if they stand for the war or not? Isn't that a little harsh? Judging before we know whether or not they even stand for the principles of that war? I used to be like that, but ever since my father's death, (not in Iraq, but he did serve), I've become more sensitive to this concept...They are truly amazing people, I mean, following orders under that amount of pressure, as well as being traumatized with those horrible images of bombings, and comrades dying...We really should be more greatful for the luxury we have of staying in our homes, especially the kids of 18, who just got outta high-school, were this any different kids would be heading out into war, we really should be thankful...they go through all of that, and we get to sidown, and watch it on T.V....So, I want to challange anyone who reads this, to silently thank, send a letter, or pray for our troops, and Vets...Our Vets do not get the treatment they need because of our selfishness...That, to me, is sick...because we don't want to...they suffer, mentally, physically...I mean, while being homeless, I've seen a few Vets out on the street, and I cry, I really do...it's aweful...so, you be thankful that you're not drafted, and that you are safe...
Take the time this weekend to honour an Active Duty or Veteran Soldier...
