I make hundreds of these, and post so few of them. This one I made during a fiftieth wedding anniversary for my grandrents. Antisocial, me? Never!
Tenatively titled 'Eden's Shadow: The second Dark Age'
They called it the mecca of human technology, this domed city orbiting the world from the moon's craggy face. Yet in the end, it would be the first nail in the coffin of the old world. On the planet earth, thousands were dying each new week due to a plague seemingly without origin. Human bodies, by then immune to all but the worst cases of cancer or the common cold, were ill-prepared for the sudden assault of what became known as the Reaper syndrome. However, the distant moon's residents seemed to be unaffected, even when directly in contact with the deadly mystery. Their blood was drawn in a massive drive, applied liberally to stop the destruction and stem the tide of the disease. It was indeed a miracle cure, the human population was able to soar..and grow..and grow..and grow. Without natural predators besides themselves, with very little disease, the human population rose unchecked. All too soon, famine swept the world, mass unrest and fights numbering hundreds of bodies soon became commonplace. These orgies of blood drew attention, first from governments, and then from businessmen with less scruples than ambition. All too soon, televised combat sparked into prime time, combat football, gladiator warfare, duels to the death, and simple executions became more common than ever before, shot in technicolor and enhanced by the latest in video technology. The old world; the world of science and large-scale wars, is dead. The new way blooming, profits from blood and screams. This is an enviroment slowly sinking into barbarism, enhanced by cybernetics and biological modification. Welcome to the second dark Age
