Ok. I got a tip from a dude at work to read this book. He told me that I might like it when i was buying this book by James Patteson called Sam's Letters to Jennifer. It happens that I really am a huge fan of books written in the style of journals, letters, and other similar devices. Some narration is ok.. but I really like how some writers can put together an entire plot and deep character development just through letters. I really like that type. Nopenname, the owner of the serafinas, gave me some tips on a few more books written like that. I might have to check them out when I'm done with this one. I think I"ll stick to one book at a time.
So, I finally got around to purchasing this book, and so far, I am enjoying it. What an interesting character this Charlie is. I am only halfway through it. Normally, I can do a 200 page book in a few days. This one I've slowed down and taking it nice and slow. I read about five of his letters at a time is how I read it. I am in February with his letters. I can see where people like to compare/contrast it with Catcher in the Rye. And, ironically enough, that book had several references made to it inside this book. funny...
Not sure why I'm talking about this when I'm not even done with it. He does describe these experiences he has. I wonder if it's just asthma.. or a juvenile diabetes... or what... maybe htey are just panick attacks?
I am thinking when I am done I might reread the hobbit... today is my day off... I want to do something tonight. I kind of don't want to play any online games. I tend to get addicted to playing them, and I do realize that I allow myself to give too much time to them. I think to myself how I need to spend more time reading to Naaman. I need to spend some time organizing my room. I need to get my pantry more organized. I need to make lists for back to school and set up appointments.
Oh, last night i turned in my vacation time request for about a good five days off work in august. I included dates to cover dream cruise weekend. Every DC weekend since i started there I have worked ten hour shifts covering so others could go. Well, there is this lady at my work who happens to live real close to woodward and hosts a DC party/bbq. I want to go this year. She is so nice. I went christmas shopping with her. And, we went to Panera for lunch after. I would love to go hang out with her again sometime.
I also been meaning to clean up enough to have Sherise over too. I love the girls at work. Oh! I am so proud of myself... well not proud but satisfied. One thing I've picked up out of this book was how he talked about his teacher encouraging him to "participate" in life. His teacher encourages this because he tends to be the type who just stands on teh sidelines observing. I can be like that too. I participate online, but I think I need to participate more in real life. I was going to my mom's group that meets every other thursday. We are off for the summer because the facilitator runs a children's summer program out of antoher city in our county. We'll be back probably sometime end of august beginning of september.
I want to go back to going to church sometimes.
