News of my pregnancy traveled fast. Of course, I was only 19 at the time. Raphael was furious of me. "Felicia!" He yelled, "I've already told you! You will be changed at 21! There is no need to rush things!"
I've never seen him so angry before. His eyes seemed to black out as he yelled- A side effect of the Vampirisim Trait. The tradition of the Von Helson name was to change all Family at 21 years. But I never intended on my pregnancy, and I wasn't about to give my baby away either...
Because of complications, our sect gathered and decided that they would change me at 19, but at a cost. The Vampirisim Trait effects the body in many ways.
It replaces the body's need for food with blood,
It slows the aging process drastically,
It creates artificial Immortality in a sense, that without blood the body goes dormant, but does not die.
Raphael's crystal-blue eyes reflected my face, as he changed me. I felt my body go through mortal death, but I feared for my child than my own life. It was decided that David and I were to move away, for a while, until the baby was 5 years. And so we left Durem to the hills not too far off, and 9 months later my baby was born.
I named him Vladimir, though David objected that we name him Adam. Vladimir was born in the lap of luxury, and I was afraid that it might effect his personality in the future. I grew up with so little and he grew up with the world in his hands. Raphael belonged to a counsel of elite Vampires far off past the mountains. Because I was changed so young, he said I too was to become part of it.
6 Months later, David was called for war, something which he dreaded for a long time. Though, he knew that he would have to serve eventually, he left me to tend to Vladimir alone.
When Vladimir turned 5, capable of speaking, he asked me where his father was.
It pained me to hear these words, and from my own child. "Darling, we can't discuss this now." I said to him. "We have to pack, we're leaving for VH Manor today."
