Diary of A Broken Compass
Jack Sparrow's compass is not broken, it's just ruled by a confusing Goddess called Ily. What the Captain wants, she delivers. Or does she?
2. Isla De Muerta
Ily paced the cabin as she waited for Jack to return to the Pearl. And as she paced back and forth, she thought of ways to get rid of that dretched Sarah girl whom Jack had taken a fancy. Maybe Sarah should suffer a most painful death, Ily thought. But no, she could not do much, despite being a Goddess. She was a slave to whoever held the strange compass, and not one day passed without Ily vowing to have her revenge against the voodoo priestess who doomed her.

Ily was forced to turn invisible as she noticed the door opening. She could not be seen, by orders of the Captain, by the crew. “Captain!” she reappeared at the sight of the pirate.

“Perhaps I should’ve kept that gold” said Jack snapping shut the compass and dropping it on the desk “it’d be much more useful than you, frankly”

Ily crossed her arms against her chest and pouted, but did not say anything.

“We’re going to the Isla De Muerta” Jack informed her, sitting behind the desk and uncorking a rum bottle that stood by a set of keys.

Ily blinked, many things going through her mind as he mentioned the place, and forgot all about her silent treatment “You don’t need to head that way, Captain”

“Are you the Captain, Ily? Do you command this grand ship?”

“If I did I’d make the wise decision not to approach fools like Sarah, and I’d avoid places like Isla De Muerta” Ily snapped.

“There’ll be no more talking about Sarah, I’m the captain and I say we grasp the opportunity”

Ily let out a growl. She took the compass, shook it once and threw it hard at Jack whom failed to catch it and hit him square on the shoulder. “Sarah is only mortal, Captain, and she will die like all mortals!” With the last words said, she vanished.

Jack was about to call back to her, when he glanced at the now-open compass. It no longer pointed toward the last location, but a new horizon, a heading he suspected was directing him to Isla De Muerta. Like always, she delivered, and that was good enough for him. With a smirk, he downed his rum, fantasizing about the riches hidden in Isla De Muerta that would soon be loaded into the Black Pearl.
