You all should have seen it by now, the little reminder next to your gold that tells you that Gaia's gone commercial in a big way. While it was only previously possible to use real currency as a way to buy an investment a la donation items, it is now possible to put it straight away into items.
Personally I disagree with this method, but I can understand why it looks good to gaia.
So, what're your opinions?

I personally dislike it. A bunch of members will be using a lot of money only to get gold. It is rather... ingenious though.
It also shows that Gaia really wants money.
This will throw off the Marketplace. More expensive items that noobs got.
I disagree. It's just one more step towards gaia selling out. We'll start having advertisements in towns. It foreshadows a terrible time on gaia.

We'll probably have billboards in towns. .____.
But you can tell that Gaia wants the money. $5 is about 30k in Gaia Cash or something like that?
We're falling into the pit of money. T___T

That'll also make Market prices skyrocket.

But then again, the gift credits have been around for a loong time too, right? And that's pretty much the same thing as the Gaia cash, I believe... just a different name. I'm not too familiar with that system, so correct me if I'm wrong.
But we might be okay.
Not too big of a MP explosion, maybe? [/optimism.]
on an off topic note.
I read the first hundred or so pages of HP7 while my sisters were shopping for school supplies today. I was so annoyed that they only took 45 min. this year instead of the usual three bajillion. @___@

Wait... We had this before though. The Cash is not a new thing, it was called Gift Credits and they weren't worth a fart in the air conditioning. The only difference is now if I want to buy them, you get a decent ammount for your money. You can't really say that Gaia is going commercial, it already was. Just instead of getting MC's and selling them for money, you can buy things from the stores and sell them for money.

Well, whether we like it or not it is here. We can either use it and blow our cash on items or we can ignore it and hold picket signs. Either way, it'll still be there. It isn't going anywhere and I am not going to bother hating it. I'll probably use it every now and then. I don't see a problem with it.

I'm truthfully impartial about the Cash system.
I'm probably going to use it to buy MCs and certain items... but I will still have my gold function as the primary currency.

Commercial or not... It might be useful, it'll probably screw the economy, and the admins will bathe in cash... Real world cash.

The whole thing about exchanging it to gold to buy monthly collectibles off the market place... really wouldn't work if you think about it.
Going off what someone said $5 = roughly 30k gold
Think of like... getting a devil's tail
tektek price ~11,258,797 Gold
11,258,797 Gold / 30k gold == about 375.3
375.3 times rounded up to 376 times * $5
== 1,880 US Dollars
No one is going to spend that much for a devil's tail... and if they do, hats off to them.
Consider the audience of Gaia... Most are under the age of 18, they don't exactly have that kind of money to blow around...
So.. its really not going to affect prices THAT much
But that isn't to say that there won't be inflation, nor do I necessarily agree with it. But again, as someone else has said, I'm not really going to protest or object to it. It's Gaia's world... let them do what they see fit with it.

Many days it has been since the lore of 2003 and the magical fable of a better Gaia it doth bringeth.
Like the people of Waknuk, we look to the land of years ago like the old people, cutting through mountains and soaring through skies.
However, the truth is: Gaia wasn't so miraculous in those days either. For though it was free of commercialism, it was wrought with the wisdom of of still-born noobs.
So tell me, young Gaians, still blinking into the sun like puppies from the womb, would ye rather have an impoverished Gaia, or a corrupt one?
. . . Whoa... I just blacked out there for a moment. What happened?

What happened? You farted and it smelled of daisies. No, but really you're right. It's not that big of a change, and it should help gaia hopefully be able to pay for us to do more cool stuff. Although those still born noobs are generally still about. course... I still consider gaia fishing a relatively recent event.
