Anybody ever read it? Summary from the book:

"Imagine that your mother tells you she is going away. She is leaving you with relatives
you have never heard of---and they are members of a strict religious cult. Your name is
changed to a biblical one, Esther, and you are forced to follow the severe set of social
standards set by the cult. You don't know where your mother is, and you are
beginning to question your own identity."

Interestingly, Beale got her inspiration when she was a teacher and a student at her shool was beaten up and expelled from his family for going against their religious beliefs.

Never read it but it sounds interesting. The authors inspiration was a good one.

Yeah, but sad. It would suck to get kicked out of the family for religious beliefs... I actually found the book put me in a pissed mood. It was SO unfair! The girl's uncle and family IGNORE her when she tells them her name is Kirby, not Esther. Then the little 5-year-old cries all the time because she misses her sister who...died... ninja ... and NO ONE comforts her, even during prayers.

They just let her cry, cry and cry...Sick...

Yeah it would suck to get kicked out of the family. Well I haven't found a book yet that has made me mad.

Heh, every now and then I find them. Usually they're about rape or like this unfair controlling religion. Like the book Speak pissed me off occationally. But...nothing else has O.o I think

Yes, but that book (Speak, that is) was really well done. The ending was beautiful.
