Keirro dragged Ranis into the classroom. The feral child was obviously not used to crowded surroundings and fought with all his might to avoid other children. Keirro sighed as she removed the boy's harness in public for the first time, half expecting the world to collapse into itself. She placed her hands on the boy's shoulders and looked at him square in the eye.
"So help me God, if you bite a single child I will lock you up with a thousand children. Got it?" growled Keirro.
"Kay."Ranis barked. Ranis had difficulty hearing the threat. His attentionspan was diverted by the other children. Ranis could smell filth on them, even though thier mothers had scrubbed them down with the finest soaps. The scent of glue and paint hung in the air and the room was filled with children crying, shouting or chattering on mindlessly about how much useless information they knew. Ranis was certain that he would have a hard time fitting in. None of the other children looked like him. They were dressed up all pretty and didn't have horns, tails or funny eyes like he did. The other children dtared at him, aggrivating the young liongoat.

Lavi kneeled in the doorway as she ruffled Ayame's hair slightly. Ayame had proven slightly interested in school, especially after being told about the classes in which she wa supposed to draw. Lavi looked lovingly into her red eye's and then gave the now quiet child a kiss on her forehead before turning her around and giving her a light nudge into the classroom.
Ayame looked around at the haphazard classroom and though at first she thought the stares from various children were for her she soon saw where their attention was directed: a peculiar looking boy around her age with a cute tail that seemed to lash back and forth, a set of horns and...those green eyes...
She blinked and turned her attention away mostly as she sat down at the table in a chair opposite of him and twittered her wings. Her eyes soon found themselves locked on a picture behind Ranis.

Ranis started whimpering as he watched his guardian walk out the door. He didn't want to be alone here. This place was confusing and chaotic to the boy's senses. It didn't help that there was a girl staring in his direction. Why was she staring? She was the one with the funny wings.
"Ba!Ba!" Ranis barked in attempt to get the girl to stop staring. Ranis had little understanding for manners or polite behavior. He stared at the girl with his feral eyes.

Ayame looked down at his face when she heard his voice, what had he tried to say? She focused on him now, locked into his eyes...such a wonderful color...
A bottle of paste came crashing down in the middle of their table, splattering every which way, splattering her with stick bits of gunk. She looked down at her dress, now covered with globs of paste and frowned, nearly ready to cry. This had been a new dress...
An outbreak of laughter from another of the round tables and several imitations of the throw were made as one flexed his little arms to his peers, offering the lone Ayame and Ranis a malicous grin.

Globs of paste flew into Ranis's hair. He noticed poor Ayame across from him get splattered with the sticky substance. His outrage grew as his pentup frustration reached a boiling point. The boy growled as his attention turned to the bullies across the room.
"Rawwwwwwrrrrr!!" The toddler cried out, flashing his fangs as he charged at the bullies, his fists flying.

The kids at the table scattered to the corner of the room, screaming their heads off as They saw the crazed Ranis leap towards them. The room quickly fell into disarray as other tables scattered away from the group of bullies to huddle out of the way behhind desks and tables, whimpering and whining and crying.
A hand from behind took hold of Ranis and lifted him into the air, holding him from behind just under his shoulders. The hands proceeded to place Ranis back at his desk and be turned to face one of those glares that teachers somehow learn to give that seem to encompass the power of the universe on a pencil tip before She let go and went across the room to the bullies, reprimanding them and sending 3 of them out of the room with her assistant, who had been waiting quietly at the door, where they were taken to another room to be cleaned up.
Ayame had looked up in shock as soon as Ranis had yelled out, following him with her eyes as he rushed them and the chaos that ensued as he approached. She could hardly do more then blink in wonder as the scene unfolded.

Ranis growled and folded his arms as he was plopped down in his seat. He totally had the situation under control. If it wasn't for that teacher, those boys would have been pulverized by the toddler's tiny fists.
Ranis looked at the strange girl sitting across from him. What was wrong hith her back? Was she mutated or something? She was the only girl Ranis could recall meeting that had wings.
"whawronwiu?" he growled at the girl.

Ayame looked across at Ranis and promptly signed to him, "I'm fine, was hoping you would get those boy's, they ruined my dress. What about you?" She set down what she was doing and softly smiled as she waited for him to respond in turn.

Ranis blinked as he watched Ayame's hands. The movements seemed foreign and yet he was able to understand that Ayame was saying something positive. The toddler leaned forward as much as he could to sniff her hands. She smelled like grass, and somewhat like paste. He looked up at her with confused curiosity. His feral eyes blinking up at her as he remained leaned over his desk.
"Maow?" he mewed. Her hands her so different, yet they did not frighten him. Usually he reacted to such things in a negative way. The hands seemed happy. They did not produce sound the way voices did and that was relief to Ranis's ears.

Ayame thought for a moment as the only response was what seemed an inquisitive meow...like a cat....a pair of green eyes and something resembling a cat flashed in her mind for a moment, only to be pushed aside as she tried signing something simpler.
"What's your name?"
Maybe she had gotten the hand signals sort of wrong...or maybe she could teach him like the teacher had done with her and Lavi. She knew she had enjoyed it immensely, and whenver she looked at Lavi while her mother wasn't watching during these sessions she only ever saw a smile of such warmth it encouraged her to keep trying even when she had gotten frustrated to the point of nearly chucking one of her shoes at the instructor when she couldn't get a hold of a part of a lesson.
The teacher soon had the rest of the class settled and was writing her name on the board with a crumbling piece of chalk and announcing herself to the class. Slowly she continued through standard procedures, not giving the two odd students in the back much notice.
Not that Ayame credited her worth noticing as she used the disgusting chalk instead of a fine pencil. Ayame kept her focus and small, soft smile on Rais as she signed something to him, "I am Ayame."

"Ayame..." Ranis mewed. He placed his hands under his chin and blinked at the hands. Was that her name? Ranis sniffed and looked back up at the girl.
"Imma Ranis." His tail flicked back and forth. The teacher was still prattling on. The boy quickly found the older woman to be boring. The boy sighed and lowered his head onto his desk.

She smiled. So he could understand her! She put a finger to her lips as she thought and then an idea sprang to mind. Quickly she signed to Ranis,
"Wanna scare those bullies again? I can help too."
She offered a wicked grin which she flashed in the direction of the other table. The fury in her eyes was evident as she got the remainder of the gooey paste off. Why hadn't the teacher done anything to them...Lavi would have spanked all of them for such an outrageous offense, she decided. If all the teacher wanted to do was go over the simple things then she, with Ranis's help if she could get him to, would take things into her own hands. No one got away with such blasphemy towards new clothing!
"We can get them good, give them bad dreams..." She whispered across the table, her voice like a soft harp even as a whisper. It pleased her more then her thoughts of vengeance, that she was developing like a piece of beautiful art...at least her voice did...and she knew she was cute...."Maybe...have 'ny ideas?" She finished and looked expectantly at Ranis. What was it about those eyes...such a brilliant color...

Ranis grinned in agreement. He was very good at guessing what Ayame's gestures could mean. He had unfinished business with those jerks and he was more than willing to experiment with team work to get the job done. He wasn't too terribly bright, but he had brawn.
At a young age, Ranis was already testing himself against nature on a daily basis. He constantly ate small animals and bugs, he climbed trees, chased cats and even fought against the neighborhood dogs. He even went camping in the woods with a werewolf.
Speaking of nature, Ranis could feel something spiny caught between his teeth. Using his tounge, he spat out the leg of what used to belong to a grasshopper. The crushed leg landed on the boy's desk and Ranis looked back at Ayame with glee.
Most people didn't like bugs or nature. To others, the idea of being lost in a wood terrified them while Ranis thrived and played amongst the bushes and trees. The two toddlers could work with that fear.
"Buggy." replied Ranis.

Ayame grinned, the boy was a genius! That would be perfect, and no one would know how it happened if they did it right. Best to see what Ranis thought about it.
"That gives me an idea, how about this?" She signed to Ranis before pulling out a sheet of paper and drawing hundreds of little bugs in as much detail as she could manage[detail, she had learned, mad this work alot more effectively!] and then a simple green button in one corner. Then she took a pair of paper scissors from her backpack, which was now neatly leaned against the table leg, and cut the paper carefully around the bugs into a few sections. Then, with a grin she cut the green button away from it all before doodling another bug on a piece of sceap, a grasshoper, none the less, and activated it.
The little grasshopper pulled free of the paper and leapt from in front of her to land squarely in front of Ranis. It offered the liongoat boy a calm, bugeyed glance before turning to stare forward.
Ayame barely restrained her glee while she signed to him again, "Think you can get these pieces of paper in the bullies pockets?" She held up the mishapen cuttings.

Ranis was taken aback by the girl's amazing ability. He gave a confused whine. Was it really real? How was she able to do this? He had never known anyone with this kind of power before. He felt slightly jealous of the girl, but didn't outwardly express it.
It seemed familiar, somehow, it was like finding a flower that had not been seen since childhood. He was certain that he had never seen such a gift before, but he had no way of proving that he had ever seen such talent. The frustration forced the boy to gnaw on an eraser.
The boy leaned in towards the grasshopper. He picked it up gingerly, frightened and intrigued by its fragile structure. He opened his mouth as if to bite the bug, but Ayame's hopeful face made the toddler reconsider.
How to sneak close to those boys? Ranis wished Ayame would simply draw hundreds of the grasshoppers, but the boy was sure Ayame probably had something else in mind. Ranis slinked down to the floor and crawled across the floor like a lion stalking prey. He had experience with getting by unnoticed, and it wasn't long before the boy was able to slip the grasshoppers into the bullies pockets.
