I am taking a break from modding but i'll be leaving the tip up since it truly is helpful.
For now my tip is in regards to trolls, their topics, and what to do about them:
Definition of trolling
No Trolling: Posting material that is inflammatory or intended solely to offend or provoke other members is called 'trolling', and is not permitted. Trolling is considered a form of abuse.

1. Should you see someone trolling the first thing you should do is report them and be sure to give a detailed reason why, or what you feel specifically counts as trolling. Mind you mild use of curse words isn't going to count, but that doesn't immediately discount the possibility of it being part of the problem.
2. Don't post in their topic AT ALL. Generally trolling topics can also be counted as spam, and no one wants to be included for spamming to simply say "obvious troll is obvious" or any other small comment or retaliatory remark. Responding in just about any form is what the user trolling is after; best to effectively let the troll starve and let the topic sit and eventually be drowned out by other topics that are more legitimate until a moderator is able to handle them.
3 Some trolls use offensive pictures in their methods, usually pg-13 in nature. If you see a troll doing anything like that report the topic pronto and even try to contact an online moderator for the forum you're in.
