Im sure you all know exactly what im gonna say. How may of you phans...well who also like Harry Potter noticed the similarities between Erik and Severus Snape almost immediately?
I mean lets see obvious ones
-lives underground
-wears black swooshy capes/robes
-most everyone is afraid of their precense
- their voices are both awesome (ok this ties speciafially with alan rickman)
I mean you could really analyze it and see how similar these two characters are..and i do absolutely adore both of them!
anyone share my sentiments?

i totally agree. i like both of them, and they are very much alike. i can't wait to see the fifth movie and read the seventh book when it comes out.

I love Snape, and Alan Rickman is definitely one of my favorite actors... but I don't really think the two are comparable. Erik actually has much more depth to his character, and if you look at both of their backgrounds, Erik definitely has a much more interesting past. Snape was a whiny loser kid in school who grew up to become a death eater, but then (supposedly) reformed and became a teacher. Erik was professional architect of torture devices. AND a musician. I mean... yeah. Erik is just cooler. Hey, Snape is a cool second choice, but he can't even stand up to Erik's standards in my book.

I did have crushes on both in the past.
But I think I get your meaning. I can kind of see how they're similar. Their personalities do strike me as having certain parallels, and both have been harassed and/or villified for most of their lives. All the same, the respective stories in which they originate are very different from one another, and so it is rather difficult to truly compare the characters due to the disparity of setting, situation and so on. Different enough, that is, where pointing out certain personality likenesses is a fair argument, but not much beyond that.

I agree, I guess thats sort of what I meant. The stories are very different and drawing a close comparison doesnt work. But they have some similarities and i think thats definetly awesome, since i love both characters.

You know what is funny?
I was doing a Snape quiz recently, and one selection of answers throughout the whole thing was Erik-Related. xD
It was like
"Who does Snape love?"
"CHRISTINE, OF COURSE!"
It was really silly and amusing. x3
But I must say, I do love Snape, and I do love Erik. They both need a nice hug. < 3

Probably why I am attracted to him. o.O
I can see some resemblances like the dark-y attitude and stuff.
I think J.K. Rowling could have done a lot more with Snape to show why exactly he is such an a*****e. xD I know he gets teased and stuff, but I'd like to see this whole book on everything Snape. xD Maybe a good idea for fanfiction once I finish the series... kind of like Phantom by Susan Kay 'cept Snape. smile
I am saying this before reading Half-Blood Prince... sad I am only on the 4th book, but I am reading as fast as I can! xd

Nothing is really stated outright, but you learn a lot more about his situation. He's pretty much a major enigma until the end of the last book.
