I'm 20 years old, at my THIRD year of community college instead of my first year at university (not enough credits to transfer yet), live at home, don't know how to drive, work at wal-mart, and have never been on a date.
...
does this equal pathetic? I can't help but feel that it does... sweatdrop

what are you looking for? Comparing yourself to some imaginary timeline is worthless.
I went on my first date when I was 18, didn't have my first kiss till 25!
Somehow, though, I am "catching up" if you will. I am dating a really awesome guy now.

You're not pathetic. And if you ever say you are again, I will yell at you mercilessly. I hate it when people put themselves down.

Do me a favor for a sec, k? smile
Imagine you heard your daughter talking about herself like that. How would you feel?
Now, imagine how Heavenly Father feels.
We all a have weaknesses, sure. We also have strengths. There are enough people in the world willing to tear you down; you've got to stand strong and build yourself up!
Only you can live your life. As long as you live it in the way that's right for you and in accordance with gospel laws, it doesn't matter what you study or where you work.
"In the end the race is long and it's only with yourself."

Jigoku_Angel I'm 20 years old, at my THIRD year of community college instead of my first year at university (not enough credits to transfer yet), live at home, don't know how to drive, work at wal-mart, and have never been on a date. ... does this equal pathetic? I can't help but feel that it does... sweatdrop *checks off list* I'm nearly 20, starting my third year at a community college, live at home, can't drive, work at a bookstore, never been on a date. I think that if you think you're pathetic, than I'm right along with you. I don't think I'm pathestic. I think I'm lazy half the time but am working at it. We're in the same boat. Don't call me pathetic by calling yourself pathectic. Call yourself causious and scared out of your wits about the future when you left high school. Just take it one step at a time, and start by being happy that you're doing anything at all!

I've been very anxious and frustrated lately at things out of my control. Its like I'v ebeen on an anger sugar rush - yell and complain and stab broken down boxes with my box cutter, then be all 'meh'-ish and tired.
a recheck on my list:
community college -- at least I;m not in debt like my older sister is live at home -- so does my older brother don't know how to drive -- my mom didn;t learn until she was 26 work at wal-mart -- my brother works in the department next to mine never been on a date -- I'm a very introverted person, so duh.
This thread was made when I was in one of my emotional crashes. ^_^; The night before I posted it, I had a dream that I was getting married and then waking up to reality, well, it was a bit saddening.
Ignore this topic from now on, thank you.

I don't want to ignore this thread. There's nothing wrong with needing to be cheered up. Please don't keep your feelings to yourself. We're always talking about serving others; we need to remember that that also means that we have to let others serve us.
Lots of people are living at home with their parents. The world has gotten more difficult and expensive recently and many people (my husband and I included) need the extra help that our parents can give.
There's nothing wrong with community college. It's got more affordable prices, smaller classes; you get more personalized attention and learn the exact same things as someone in their first two years at university.
You'll date when you're ready. I'm an introvert too and I dated before I was really ready and I hurt someone because of it. sad Be sure when you begin dating you're doing it because you're ready to and you want to find that special person, not because you (or anyone else!) think you "should" be dating. (No, I'm not projecting... well, maybe a little...)

Yup, you're not alone. I'm going on to my third year of community college, I didn't have a job until the end of my first year (I'm still working there, in addition to a tutoring job, also at the college) I hadn't had a date until after I was 19, am 20 now and haven't been on a date since. I haven't really had any best friends until AFTER I was out of high school(Now I have at least three.) I still kind of live with my parents(It's a long story...) I do know how to drive, but I didn't get my license until I was 18(In fact, now I'm the household taxi, and so get less sleep)
I know how y'all feel, I've been feeling meh and blah recently >.O

Nope. You're not alone. smile
While it is good to have friends nearby you can hang-out with, far away friends are nothing to be sneezed at. smile Heck, if it weren't for the internet and my friend from Texas, I wouldn't have my husband! He's from Toronto, Ontario. I'm from Maryland. Yeah, it's a long story. smile

Here it's like.... ooohhhh.... what, $65? And they have classes at my school that can prep you, or you can just buy the $23 book. Depending on how well you do, some colleges like mine give you full ride scholarships for 1 to 4 semesters, so long as you keep a B average. Doesn't cover books, but it's still a good start. DON'T GIVE UP!! 3nodding

I got my high school diploma and was trained in a trade (facilities maintenance) of my choice. Heck, I even went on a few dates while I was in the program. XP Look it up. It could help.
