Wiki Wankelwas actually first used by NSU motors, VAZ in the Soviet, Comotor, South China Institute of Technology and even Mercedes Benz in a concept car. good engine cool (if somewhat fragile sometimes)

Lots of power, on stock internals. That's one of the great things about a rotary. Plus, there's no rev limit.

It is actually very common to see plane hobbists put in custom 3-5 rotor motors (and some just rock 13BT's ) in light aircraft because with a plane torque isn't a big deal as long as you have horses your fine and yes rotarys have no rev limit they will however eventually stop gaining any speed but most will hit 11000 RPM without much problem mine as it sits will probably do between 9500 to 10000. and as far as rotary boats go this is how they work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpxK2ub-qCshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0W7Vlgh35I

Holy s**t that boat is absolutely sick. I've taken rides in 200 mph boats before; my dad knows the guys at a Fountain dealership. They're scary fast. But, turbo rotary? Just the feeling of the boost must be sick.

Okay so my brother has an Rx8 and he plans on throwing a supercharger on it. Now for most cars a turbo would be a better choice, but I'm guessing he is getting a supercharger because it would provide more torque right?

He's probably getting a supercharger because it's easier to maintain.

Millefune He's probably getting a supercharger because it's easier to maintain. Maybe, seems like a turbo would do better though, due to the amount of unused gas that rotaries tend to burn would help a turbine spin, but he knows his car better than me. 3nodding
