APOCALYPTICA are a singular voice in music. From their days as a cover band in Finland to one of the most original metal bands in history, they've long since left their days as a musical curiosity behind them. Sold out venues the world over say it all - the band that closed the chasm between Shostakovich and Metallica, between concert halls and rock venues - has become one of the most respected groups on the planet. At last, they're releasing recorded document of their remarkable rise to fame. '"Amplified - A Decade of Reinventing the Cello" is a retrospective testament to the first ten years of a soaring career that no one, not even them, could have predicted. And with their upcoming "The Life Burns Tour" DVD, they've got even more goods to prove it.

I've heard of this band, I liked what I heard. The thing I remember most is their cover of the Rammstein song.

I would've said that Neo-classical has influences & roots around Goth...

They've got a Thrash basis, as they started out by doing Metallica covers...& the Symphonic because Cellos are usually in an orchestra...

M-a says they're Symphonic Heavy Metal which I don't know whether or not to agree to it. If "Hall of the Mountain King" is an example of their original material then I would agree with this.

But, for the most part I don't know which songs are covers and which are original (other than the Metallica covers). "Repressed" sounds a lot like mid-period Sepultura and since they cover Metallica that would make them thrash, but their original stuff might be different.

And just having cellos doesn't make them symphonic or neo-classical.

@mathias: Use http://metal-archives.com/ for genres they're a lot more reliable than wiki/myspace.
