Koiyuki badlywornshoes Interesting are the differences between Western and Eastern massage. I was licensed after taking massage therapy courses in America in forms which are only vaguely sensual. Eastern massage seems far more sexual and generally more gratifying, and why shouldn't it be? Many (if not most) of our body's nerve clusters are in sexual areas (neck, spine, breasts, genitals, etc). I've had massages done on me in both Japan and Thailand and they are different than what you find in the States. I personally think it's due to the cultural differences. In the western world, sensuality and sexuality are treated as two totally different animals, whereas the opposite is true in the East. Mindsets also play a big part in the overall experience. In my eyes, a great masseuse relaxes all parts of the being, body, mind and soul. And with rates going $30 an hour and up it better damn well be a totally relaxing experience. After typing that, I really got to thinking, what exactly differentiates eastern and western train of thought on the two? What does make them so different from one another? What are your thoughts on sensuality and sexuality?

I think that the biggest difference between the East and West are laws and sexual equity between the sexes.
Let me explain.
In places like India, China, and the like, there are TONS of people. There are so many more people per square inch of land, it's not even funny. Therefore, in order for you to get noticed at ALL, you have to offer more and more specialty services. Why do you think that prostitution over in these countries tends to be more rampant and more extreme in what the prostitutes will offer?
Additionally, if you look at gender relations in these places, you'll notice that women are very much seen as subservient and inferior to men. It's not simply that the women must cater to men's desires, but that they are EXPECTED to do whatever a man says, by their parents, peers, and societal standards. Therefore, it would follow that sexual massage is often a good way for a female massager to get more business, especially from males who demand all kinds of different treatment.
Personally, I think that it's not "sexual puritanism" on our part that keeps sexual massage from being widespread in the US. It's mainly laws that keep out prostitution, and the fact that women here are not EXPECTED to do what men say. It's quite the addicting concept if you've never lived in a place that ever encourages you to do more than be subservient to a male figure.

I think the west's "Sexual Puritanism" has a lot more to do with it than that.
But in the end it does boil down too what you are legally allowed to offer. I know I'm gonna sound like a perv when I say this, but I think the demonification of sex is unfounded...but I'm going off on a tangent again.
There is a brighter side to this, at least from my perspective. No matter where you go there are going to be people who aren't ready to do such sexual favors in the line of their work...or even at any point in life. With the laws set forth in the west it gives them a fairer shot at retaining business.
