The day was certainly a splendid one. Rhapsody churred happily as she heard the rumble of thunder after a passing rain, shaking a bit of dampness from her fur and flicking her ears lazily, before smiling and trotting onwards, tails flicking about happily.

"Such a lovely day~" she singsonged, purring as she made her way along the rabbit-paths, winding her way out of the forest, and purring all the louder when she thought new sunlight would reach her -

Oh, goodness.

Rhapsody yelped in surprise as she walked right into a new downpour, which had been dampened previously by the canopy of leaves overhead when she had been covered in the forest. The brightly colored kitsu scrambled back into the cover, glaring up at the sky momentarily. "Oh, that was terrible, terrible!"

User Image((Counter title: Sure, I'm a Ninja, but I'm Unmotivated.))

He'd been dozing through the rain against the thick trunk of a tall pine, curled among the meager roots of the tree with his head resting upon his paws. Days seeped slowly and uneventfully by for Kakashi. There was training, and there was reading, but ever since his kids had grown up and left, nothing very eventful ever happened. Sure, sometimes he was visited, either by his grandson or the daughter he had found a nuisance, but that was the most he had ever got. His was not a normal ending. After you had kids, you were supposed to settle down and get old with your mate. His supposed mate probably wouldn't let him get within five feet of him.

Some days he would be thankful for being alone with no one but Pakkun at his side, more or less acting as his conscious. Other days... Well, he didn't reflect on those days. Something had woken him up as it passed, or roused him from his daze. A sing-song voice, light at carefree. Through his mask, Kakashi gave a soft sniff. Whoever it was, they were going to be in for a surpri--

Too late. Shaking himself lazily, the silver-haired ninja stood, and though the forrest may have been littered with natural debris, his footfalls were silent. Up a tree, without a sound or effort of nails against the wood. He could bounce tree to tree with all the ease of climbing stairs. And now he could see her- a crimson female ducking for cover from the sun shower. Continually silent, he quickly climbed up the tree before he could be seen, shading himself from view behind a low-hanging branch.

"Actually," The voice might seem to purr from anywhere, the way he could throw it off the trees. "I'd say the place needed it. It might stop in an hour or so... but I'm no weatherman."

((xD <3 Much love.))

Rhapsody shook herself off, fluffing a little, only to pause when came that sudden voice. She turned in a quick circle, somehow managing to avoid tripping herself (this time), before cocking her head and making a slight face. "Well now, what's this? The trees have begun to yatter as well? Certainly a tree could be no weatherman, and a tree also cannot talk, so there must be someone else out there!"

She leaned forward a bit, peering around in the trees and sniffing lightly, ears focused as she tried to catch any hint of the one speaking to her. "Well now, come on. Show yourself! I'm hardly going to bite, and with as well as you're hiding, I'm sure you could get away as fast and as talkatively as you wanted! Come on, come on! I don't like talking to those I can't see!"

"You're pretty over-eager for someone whose fur is drenched and likely to mat soon." Returned the voice, giving way for a small pause. "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought we were having a state-the-obvious contest. I'm a bit competitive. Of course I'm not a tree... or am I?"

Unseen, Kakashi cocked his head as she bid him to come out. A chuckle would float down to her, dry despite the weather. "Patience, now. I thought women liked a little mystery~ I'm afraid I find it more interesting this way, and I've already settled down. I'm afraid you're out of luck. Are you in some sort of hurry?"

Rhapsody giggled at the other's - wherever he was - words, ears perked once again. "You aren't a tree. I don't imagine a voice like yours to be the voice of a tree," she said simply, nodding a few times.

"In a hurry? Hardly! I just wish to see who I'm speaking to, and I don't much feel like getting any wetter. But, I wish to continue the conversation, and don't want to leave you here in search of shelter. Please show yourself?"

"Now, if I were a tree, that would have hurt my feelings. I just might have to throw a few pine cones at you~" Shifting his weight up and down, he shook the branch beneath him, having it rain down its clinging moisture before nimbly climbing around to the other side of the trunk. Were she looking, there might have been a faint flash of tan as his tails circled about the bark.

"Well good, because I happen to have a good amount of time on my hands. No sense talking to a girl who wont even get past the formalities." As he spoke, he clambered down the trunk of the tree, launching off to another with practiced ease. There seemed to be a pause where he might have left her, though he was taking some of the extra effort to quietly sneak up on her. The nudge to one of her hind flanks was the first indication she got of his presence. "Well, since you asked so nicely..."

The one visible black eye arched its brow, everything else about his face hidden away so whatever he was expressing couldn't be betrayed. "A little water never hurt anyone, you know, but I know a place."

Rhapsody squeaked in surprise when moisture dropped down from the tree, before laughing delightedly, clearly enjoying the game. She had no problem really, with not seeing the other, simply because the conversation was entertaining enough. Look into the tree, she saw the flash of tan moving - ah! So it was not just a tree speaking to her.

"If it's all about formalities, then there simply is no conversation," replied the female, turning about as she tried to find the other, a delighted expression on her face the entire time. The silence left her straining for words, going still... only to jump when she was nudged, a squeak and a laugh escaping her as the other was finally visible.

"Do you? That would be rather nice. I sometimes don't mind the rain, but this seems like it might be a downpour. Oh! I'm Rhapsody. Did I tell you that? I'm not quite sure... But, all the same, that's who I am."
