Lately, things were going downhill.
Or at least, Xiao Lang thought so anyhow. Not only was his peace and quiet interrupted by the fact his owner had tossed a guardian on top of him, but said owner insisted he do something called 'socialize'.
Socialize.... socialize.
He'd had to pretty much look up the damned word; it was rather pathetic really. Thus was why the green clad male currently sat outside of the mountain cabin, his ears flattened against his hat and neck, his back reclined against a random tree and arms crossed over his chest. The small black guardian whom his human had said was named Spinel Sun currently rested on top of his hat, snoring slightly as it pawed at it's small maw.
Well! The human could drag him out of their house and force him outside, but she could NOT force him to BE with others. That's what Xiao Lang thought as he glowered at a nearby rock, almost as if said rock were the bane of his existence; as if it were responsible for all the pains he'd been going through as of late. Idly he wondered if he could slice the dumb rock in half with his sword, but chances were if he tried to work his sword right now, he'd end up making a fool of himself.
Paws did not agree with weapons.
Grumbling to himself, the kitsu shook his head and dropped the guardian on the floor as he stood up, glaring down at it, "I don't want you either," he grumped as he walked off in a random direction, towards the forest, "Don't NEED you..." now, Spinel, on any other situation would have allowed the grumpy male to leave, but... he was now bonded to Xiao Lang and thus decided that following, if from a safe distance... would be the best idea. And that's just what he did, flapping his small butter wings as the kitsu ventured deeper and deeper into the woods.
The walking continued till Xiao Lang suddenly halted his steps and looked around, his ears twitching at some random nearby noises that indicated the proximity of something or other, "WHO GOES THERE!" the words were practically snarled as Spinel caught up and hugged his bonded one's front arm, blue eyes following the kitsu's gaze as they looked around. Not only was someone coming... but Spinel was 99% sure they were lost now.

"Sakura, I think we're lost." Kuro crossed his arms from where he was sitting plunked in the middle of the female's hair, not minding that he was likely mussing it up. One of the massive ears to his either side twitched, the ribbons he occasionally used as reigns flipping over once more as Sakura turned her head. The bells jingled a little, and Kuro wondered at the wisdom of wearing this kind of outfit around. Still, Sakura loved it and it weren't as if they really had anything to hide from--anything he knew of, anyway.
With a wince the mustard yellow guardian remembered the .. the THINGS he now had to live with, if he were to stay near the Kitsusagi he'd been assigned to protect. Actually, there were more than a few things that he would have loved to be rid of. At least today they weren't following, and though his stomach longed for the comforts of the kitchen he was relieved to get away from the squealing and glomping and pie-throwing and toothpaste smearing and kitty litter artwork and... and... and... His vision went dizzy for a moment.
Kero shook his head to clear it, slapping one paw to his temple. "We've been out in these woods for hours!"
Below him, for he was sitting on her head after all, Sakura pouted. To her credit, the girl thought she was only frowning and thus didn't know how pathetic her expression truly was. "KeeerrrrOOoooo," She whined in an agitated manner, a sound made deep in her throat something like growling. They'd been in the woods for awhile, alright, but not so terribly long as to suspect that they were lost. At least, that was what Sakura wanted to believe.
The female looked about her slowly, tails echoing her movements, and considered that they hadn't actually been on the path for quite some time. Picking her feet up high, as she had been all day to avoid getting her dress too dirty, the female plunged on into the woods without much more hesitation. "We're not lost," She denied to them both, "Just a little turned around. We'll find someone soon, I'm sure."
"Mrrr you better hope we find some food with them," Kero murmured unhappily. He stretched himself out on her stomach then and buried his face in her hair, not at all minding how pathetic a picture he was making like this.
"What was that?" His charge asked innocently, fully unaware of the tone Kero had been taking with her. Too exasperated to explain the guardian just lifted a paw to wave the question off before dropping it heavily back on her head.
Sakura winced at that but said nothing as there was no point. Instead she continued to look around the woods for telltale sign of the path they had been following. She thought the woods were pretty, at least, an opinion she knew her Guardian did not and would not share so long as there were no sign of food about. How on earth he remained so tiny Sakura really didn't know, but she wasn't about to complain either when she was the one that had to carry him! Seeing a patch of rather beautiful flowers Sakura smiled and stopped to smell them. That was when a shout reached her ears.
Perking both up to catch any more possible sounds, Sakura lifted her head as well. It seemed to have come from a few bushes ahead. Seeing no reason not to go forward, but knowing better than to plunge into it, the female headed that direction at a steady pace. The shout had, of course, gotten Kero's attention as well. The Guardian deigned to raise his head and look up when they began to move that way, and slowly his expression migrated from tired to worried.
"Sakura, we can't go over there you don't know who--" He'd begun in whispers as they broke through another brush. Then they were out. Then he saw who had shouted.
...And the thing attached to the other kitsu's leg.
"YOU!!!" Kero shouted, amazingly loud for something so small. Sakura's ears perked again, her eyes widening at her Guardian's sudden change from annoyed to ... well, super annoyed. She attempted to look up at him, but that was rather difficult considering his position and likely caused her to look more than a little silly. So, in defeat, her eyes lowered once more to the other kitsu in green and the... vaguely kero-esque black guardian clutched to his arm.
"You know them, Kero?" She asked softly, eyes not drifting off of Li and his guardian.
"OF COURSE I DO!! THEY'RE... THEY'RE......." Kero's eyes widened for a slight moment. His accusatory stance (pointing at them all dramatically) was ruined in a moment by scratching his head. "Uh... .... huh. I guess I don't know them after all."
Sakura winced, unable to help the blush at her own Guardian's mistake. "Kero, you can't go around shouting at people like that!" She chided, head lowering a little in embarrassment. The female recovered easily, however, and slowly opened her eyes to once more look at Li. Stepping forward, she chuckled softly and offered him a sheepish smile, "Sorry for my Guardian's.. enthusiasm. He's really very nice....eh... once you get to know him."
"Hey!"

Spinel wasn't entirely sure why, but as soon as the loud, enthusiastic guardian came into view, his large black ears flattened back, much in a way that mirrored those of his bonded one's. Frowning, he clung further to the green fabric before humphing loudly and turning to look away from Kero; his short fluffy tail twitched irritably. There was something about the golden guardian that made him feel like rushing off to grab a game, slam it down on the floor and challenge it to a duel.
As stupid as that sounded. Of course Spinel couldn't do that just now, so he settled for leering the newcomers over his shoulder; he liked the girl well enough... but the golden guardian still made him seethe, "Xiao Lang... let's just go now," however, when he received no immediate answer, heavy lidded eyes raised to glance at the kitsu; Xiao Lang had not moved from his spot.
Instead, the kitsu seemed by the staring at the newcomers, very much rooted to the spot. A long pause followed, during which the male finally seemed to regain whatever consciousness had gone stray from him, and slowly he lifted his head, sniffing the air; he left like there was something he was missing her. Some odd sort of detail; something or other, which didn't quite make sense. His instincts told him there was more to this seemingly chaotic situation than was plain at view, and due to his slightly reserved and paranoid nature, he found himself frowning at the girl.
Something... something he should know. He was sure of it. There was something he couldn't quite put his paw on. That when his mind rung out the answer, or what he deemed as the answer anyhow;
There is no such thing as coincidence; only necessity.
Now, if he could only figure out where he'd heard that before... His train of thought crashed as he heard his guardian's voice, ringing over the questions in his mind. Brown eyes met up with heavy lidded green. Just as he nodded and picked up the small black hair ball in his maw (much like he would've a kit, by the scruff of it's neck), the girl talked to him directly... and something crashed. His mouth opened, hanging wide ajar, causing Spinel to crash on the floor with a soft grunt and a glare. Had someone been able to ask Xiao Lang what he felt in that moment, he'd have said it was like feeling a train crashing right into him. Hard; it was an odd sense of Deja Vu that left him breathless for a moment, his ears instantly flattening back, "T-that's okay..." his mouth moved without him commanding it to, and instead of leaving, like he'd planned to, he found himself picking up Spinel from the floor, once more by the scruff of it's neck and slowly padding over to the girl.
It was like feeling the effects of some sort of large magnet which he could not see and for now... the male did not question this; instead he sat himself down before the two newcomers, settling his guardian between his front paws. Despite his earlier claims of not wanting it, truth was... he'd grown rather used to having the small fuzzball about, and thus felt overprotective of it.
The small guardian allowed it's owner to carry him and settle him down between the large folds of fabric the kitsu's sleeves created, for though he still felt quite agitated, for reasons he did not know of (the idea of zooming off with the force of his tiny butter wings to fetch a game seemingly more and more appealing), the fact they were lost hung over his head, "You're loud," the words were drawled and directed at the golden guardian before Spinel looked away, "And lost too it seems."
Xiao Lang's ear twitched to hear his guardian and then his eyes lifted to the cover of the trees. Yes. Lost. But it didn't seem like something so bad anymore, "Who are you?" his voice had calmed down and he didn't seem to stutter, or growl like before.
