You know Grimlock(the T-Rex robot) is an Autobot right?
Then how come somewhere in the series, he's a Decepticon?

Please do tells me mrgreen

I know in the original comics Grimlock and the other Dinobots were created by Shockwave, so I would have to say that's where he was considered a Decepticon.

Also in the Dreamwave version Grimlock switched to the Decepticon side during the Lazarus arc. Of course he came back to the Autobot side in War and Peace though.

I gotta correct you here on the Marvel comics origin of Grimlock....he wasn`t created by Shockwave, he and his fellow dinobots went into stasis lock after a fight with Shockwave. in the original cartoon he was made by wheeljack, Ratchet, Sparkplug(NOT the minicon!), Spike and Chip.

Hm, I've always heard people describe it as if Shockwave created them. Matt still sums it up best with his comic though.Grimmy's origins

And that pic of Tracks in your sig is freakin awesome! Did you draw it?

nope, in the original Marvel comics the dinobots were part of the Ark crew and were reactivated because Shockwave popped up in the Savage Land.the Ark reformatted them to their dinosaur altmodes and sent them to stop Shockwave.unfortunately, it ended in a tie with both combatant parties ending in stasislock till 1984. and no, I did not draw my sig. an old friend I haven`t talked to in years drew it for me.

fools...... scream I go by the only good thing the original 80s series. The Dinobots were created on Earth by the Autobots to battle the new foes the Combaticons who were created by Starscream. The reason that they're so stupid is their circuitry is simple.

Brian...you are entitled to you're opinion, but if you're going to insult anyone, don't. Now if you [sarcasm] Fools[/sarcasm], that be another story, but as it looks right now, you've gotten yourself your first warning.

Not to mention you're statment is completely wrong, Spike and Chip created the dinobots, just because they thought it be cool to have Dinosaurs on the Autobots side, that were created before long before the Combatcons were reawaked.

Yes Reawakened. Starscream didn't build them, he stole their sparks from a decepticon prison and gave them new bodies.

Also, since the Dinobots showed up in the comics first I prefer Marvels origin rather than the cartoon. Not to mention the fact that Grimloks first Techspech said he had a 7 intelligence, he was nobodies fool. Why the cartoon made him stupid I have no idea. Arogent he was, but stupid, not so much.

Well to be fair in the cartoon Grimlock was given a chance to be super smart. He was so smart that he built Computron and the technobots all on his own on Cybertron. Unfortunately he gave up that brain to Computron because once the technobots combined the gestalt was so stupid that it couldn't even hold the form together. So it would make sense that his intelligence should be higher. But this was in 1 episode much later in the series.

I do have another theory as to why the Dinobots were stupid. Could you imagine super intelligent bots with firepower as powerful as the Dinobots? I think if that actually happened then the series would be over because Dinobots could take out Devastator and they did Megatron as well. The Decepticons would be long gone and the cartoon won't even hit season 3 lol. So it's a balancing act; they have the brawns but not so much the brains.

The whole reason the Dino's were stupid in the cartoon was because Ratchet and the others decided they should make them just like real dinos, real dinos had small brains, so the Dino bots would be given simple circuitry. And like the others said Bryan, the Dinobots had nothing to do with the Combaticons. In fact, they weren't even mentioned when the Dinobots were created. They just thought it would be cool to have that much strength and firepower on their side.

Grimlock has tended to be one of those borderline characters that doesn't always follow the Autobot ideal. He tends to have major issues with usual Autobot leadership and policies.

Grimlock just follows the fittest leader, which is why for a short time in G1 he followed Megatron. Part of why Grimlock followed Megatron was that he was tricked. Even if the dinobots were Decepticons, Grimlock, though somewhat begrudgingly, does respect and admire Optimus. Even though he's not kissing the ground Prime walks on and crying "god" everytime Prime enters a room, he is an Autobot, though a rather rough and tumble one.

ilu dinobots n~n

By the way, I don't think the dinobots are stupid at all. They're very interesting in their own ways, even if the other dinobots personalities/mannerisms are often overlooked while observing their size and fighting ability.

I stand by the fact everyone is a Grimlock fangirl at heart, though the girl part is optional. >D

I maintain that this is canon.

I concur on that vid, it's not too far off from the original episode xd

Although, I will admit that the dinobots weren't my favorite.
Useful for added strength, yes! Among my favorites? No. It's curious that they decided to make Dinobots in the first place though. Doesn't exactly adhere to the whole "Robots in disguise" motto. But oh well! They're still neat!
