I'm starting one, been starting one for a while now, however I'm terrible at coming up with the basics for it because I don't just think of things until a question is asked.

So I'm looking for some help, ask me some questions you would ask about a religion, I wont reply to them with the answer (unless you want me too) because I'm not going to preach and s**t lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated though ^_^.

Answers'd be nice, I think. After all, we may want to convert if your religion sounds prettier than the one we hold at present. |D

1.1) Who're the major deities in this religion?
1.2) How do they interact with a) the world, b) people in general, c) their followers, if at all?

2.1) What holy books are there?
2.2) Why are they holy books?

3.1) What rites/ceremonies are practised?
3.2) Why?

4.1) What are the main principles/tenants/beliefs behind the religion? (ie, You must do/be/believe such and such)
4.2.1) What are the main morals and ethics in the religion?
4.2.2) How are they decided?
4.2.3) Why those ones?

5.1) How does the religion view a) humanity, b) other religions, c) gods/goddesses, d) politics, e) law, f) the afterlife, g) supernatural/magickal events or beings?

Again, answers would be nice. |D~

Mitsh

1.1) Who're the major deities in this religion?

Bast, Eris, and Ma'at (but not limited to them at all, any deity can be worshiped along with Bast, Eris. and Ma'at)

Quote:

1.2) How do they interact with a) the world, b) people in general, c) their followers, if at all?

a) very little with the world itself when it comes to Bast, Eris of course inspires chaos, and the order among chaos. Ma'at affects the world in the sense of being a mediator of balance, trying to keep things equal.

b) people in general, hmm...I'll have to work on how I can word that, I really am terrible with words XD

c) Bast works to teach order and strength of spirit and mind, she cares deeply for her followers and is a very protective Goddess; She is the left side of the scale. Eris teaches that chaos can bring joy AND sadness depending on how it is used, it can bring peace and it can bring war; She is the right side of the scale. Ma'at gives guidance and is the center of the scale.

Quote:

2.1) What holy books are there?

None at the moment, although I could write out things using various sources. The religion could be seen as a mix of Thelema, Discordianism, and a little bit of Kemetic belief, along with a couple various non-related things.

Quote:

2.2) Why are they holy books?

Well technically they wouldn't be holy books, just the official books of the religion, I would never claim a book I wrote or pieced together to be holy unless by some very rare and improbable chance I was divinely inspired by one of the deities lmao.

Quote:

3.1) What rites/ceremonies are practiced?

I haven't thought much into that. I'd like to set some up, but I really wouldn't know where to start. Any ideas?

Quote:

4.1) What are the main principles/tenants/beliefs behind the religion? (ie, You must do/be/believe such and such)

You should try to achieve balance in your life, thats what the religion is based around; Balance. You must believe in true, and free, freedom. Freedom to watch, see, hear, say, and be who you want. Freedom to love and marry who you want. Freedom to learn and research what you want, freedom to ask questions, question authority, question everything you see and study the profound enigmas in this world and beyond it.

Quote:

4.2.1) What are the main morals and ethics in the religion?

Basically? The 38-42 declarations to Ma'at, however these are far from strict rules, and vary by source so they are more guidelines that are good to obtain balance but should be regarded as only a guide, not a chain locking you down. Aside from that, don't cause harm to another unless they deserve it.
(btw, the guidelines can be found on wiki, and various other sites)

Quote:

4.2.2) How are they decided?
4.2.3) Why those ones?

Already written, and fit the basis of the religion.

Quote:

5.1) How does the religion view a) humanity, b) other religions, c) gods/goddesses, d) politics, e) law, f) the afterlife, g) supernatural/magickal events or beings?

a) humans are here to serve as a vessel to live, you live you experience life, you die, then you return(in some cases, not all). It's a constant learning experience.

b) other religions are perfectly fine with us, although some may choose not to feel the same, personally I dislike religions that strip you of your rights and freedom of thought and makes you think it's wrong to question them.

c) other gods and goddess' are no lesser or greater (in terms of importance) than the major deities involved in the religion.

d) That religion should, in no way, be involved in them or the laws of governments.

e) Same for the law, also, there are many foolish and outdated laws around the world. I'm not saying to go out there and break them, but I'm not telling you not too either, order brings chaos and chaos brings order, they go hand in hand, therefore strive to follow both and the laws other set for you shouldn't even matter.

f) Basically, When you die your soul passes into the astral plane, from there you may either be reincarnated at some point in time, or you may stay in the astral, or you may move on to deeper planes of existence. However the deeper in the planes you go, the more of your "self" you lose as your energy is pulled back into the source, when/if you ever reach the deepest plane you lose all sense of self and become one with energy itself. This, in a sense, is the death of a soul.

g) Supernatural/Magical events or beings? Hmm, elaborate? What about them really? Does the religion believe in them? Yes of course, by all means it's certainly apart of the religion.

And thanks for all the help Mitsh ^_^.

Being a devout Luminate (the most devout possible, in fact) I do declare Mitsh answered this best, so go with his. And Mitsh, if you wanted to grab your questions, throw them together, maybe polish and stick it in the Writing Subforum, I've been looking for a religion spreadsheet type thing, to break them down and compare and contrast.

Yes he did, now all I gotta think of is a goddamn name. I agree, it'd be nice for this "religion spreadsheet" to be set up somewhere for future reference lol.
