UNIT 97

Unit 97 is a group of seven genetically engineered beings who were created after a man simply called 'the doctor' perfected his experiment after supplementary research following the proposed 'failed' procedure induced on KenoTao. Though they were created about ten years ago, until recently they have been nothing more than guinea pigs constantly under surveillance. However, due to the event in January when Keno destroyed a city block, followed by a broadcast by him in March, attention has been shifted from data gathering, to field testing of sorts. The doctor has been working diligently to figure out how it is Keno could have amassed so much power when originally there was no reaction to the fusion process. With only biological anomalies to work with, he tried taking what he knew then and what he knows now to fill in the unexplained processes that led to Keno's growth and development. Having found a few tracks that match up with the subject's current estimated power, the doctor looked further into the research and discovered that there is a probability that Keno is unstable. Whether he is loosely unstable or highly unstable is unknown. What this could mean for the world is classified. Nonetheless, to prevent the worst case scenario, the doctor has suggested the subject be eliminated.

To make matters worse, the umbrella entity which refuses to reveal itself sees Keno as a threat to the entire joint operations. Should any connection to 'the lab' be revealed, it would only be a matter of time before the lab was connected to them. In order to preserve and maintain their work, they have agreed unanimously that detaining the target would not be sufficient. Therefore, Unit 97 has been deployed to find KenoTao, and eliminate him.

Members

Name: Vali
Species: Gray Wolf
Age: 38
Height: 6' 0"
Weight: 183 lbs

Appearance: Vali is a tall, lean male of six feet even. His body is all muscle, but his abdomen shows the sharpest definition of his physique. His head is topped with long wild hair that falls as far as his mid shoulder, as black as night, but lacking luster, being dirty and messy looking. His eyes are dark set and when he looks up or down at any angle, a glowing rim of green illuminates the border between the iris and the white of his eye. His skin is pale and rough, his face rugged and dirty looking. His arms and chest are padded with dark, thick body hair that covers most of the flesh beneath. His nails are also dirty, broken, aged, and jagged from lack of care. The only thing about him that looks even remotely clean are his teeth, but since he doesn't smile much, it's not likely to show.

Often he wears a black long coat - when he goes out - that falls to just past his knee caps. It's never buttoned up though, so one can always see his red T-shirt tucked neatly into his khaki pants that bunch up at his ankles. A plain leather belt holds the pants fast around his waist. Being of simple tastes, he wears simple slip-in shoes that match the belt. Despite how neat he tries to present himself though, he still looks like a criminal.

Personality: Vali is very aloof, and very silent. Usually calm natured, he analyzes everything about his target and then redirects it in a tactical counterattack. Despite his real lack of personality, he subtly, but menacingly, asserts his authority without having to take aggressive measures. Thus, he appears to be very stoic and dry. As dangerous as he is, he doesn't rush in to combat like some of his peers, but when he does fight, he aims to totally cripple his opponent before killing him.

Abilities: Vali has innately an acute sense of hearing and smell. Everything is a shade of gray to him, but he can still easily discern one thing from another so long as they reflect different amounts of light.

He isn't full of various ki abilities, but he has mastered the list of basics, which, due to his large amount of power, are more than enough to tear most targets to pieces. This list includes the ball, blast, wave, kiai, eye beam, mouth beam, burst, barrier, suppression, sensory, and the ability of flight.

Howl- a combination of a mouth beam and an oversized kiai with tremendous force. Its purpose is to catch the target in a submission as he will try to dodge the mouth beam, but still be caught by the large kiai which may very well crush him due to the sheer amount of force Vali puts into it.

Razors - this move is particularly damaging because it's kienzan firing from his fingernails. Each finger is capable of firing multiple mini kienzan at a target in either a spray or linear manner. Their size makes the difference however as they are usually aimed at a specific point on the body and are small enough, and in such numbers, that evading them maybe very well be impossible.

Name: Mani
Species: Gray Wolf
Age: 12
Height: 4' 5"
Weight: 76 lbs.

Appearance: Mani is a lanky boy with pale skin. His hair is similar to Vali's, but shorter, has more sheen and appears better kept. His eyes are a plain dark brown, but once again they are similar in behavior to Vali's when he looks up or down. Though skinny, his body still appears well fed, and though pale he still has the glowing pink of youth and his face is very round.

The boy wears simple clothing, being only a pair of jeans, a plain white T-shirt, and some new looking black and white sneakers that the hem of his pants only just meet.

Personality: Obviously he acts like a kid. He is playful, energetic, a bit bouncy, and scatter brained. Usually he's always smiling and it makes him look harmless, but supposedly he is the most powerful in the group. His past has no childhood trauma to speak up, and though he looks almost like a mini Vali, it is unclear as to whether the two are actually related.

Abilities: Mani also has sharp hearing and smelling capabilities and the same visual condition as Vali.

He too, like Vali, is skilled at the basics of ki, but has to this day no special techniques of his own as he has not been in need of them.

Name: Jagan
Species: Kodiak Bear
Age: 33
Height: 6' 5"
Weight: 254 lbs.

Appearance: Jagan is a big guy with a military style buzz cut of dirty blonde hair to match his hazel eyes. His arms, legs, and chest all have a light amount of thick hair the same color as that on his head. The man is thick skinned and seemingly thick set, which only makes sense since his body is storing a vast amount of power. Despite the size of his body, it's mostly dense muscle, making punching him feel like hitting a tire. There's a scar on his left shoulder that has no real significance except for the fact that you can see it clearly along with some chest hair that isn't sufficiently covered by the black wife beater. Around his wrists to his palms are hand wraps and decorating his large legs are coarse, white Tae-kwon-do pants that reach down to a pair of heavy steel and leather boots.

Jagan is pretty arrogant because he's a big guy, has plenty of strength, and phenomenal speeds. There are records that he is able to maintain a velocity as high as 3,307,216 mph while airborne and can match that speed in a linear 100 meter dash. His only real loyalty is to the Unit but he does have a bit of a moral code. He's no threat to normal people, but even he isn't above being provoked into action.

Abilities: Jagan is particularly good at smelling and is surprisingly agile. He has a large amount of patience when waiting for his prey, and despite his size can seem extremely harmless until he strikes.

Basics

Hellzone Grenade - a volley of ki blasts fired in the general direction of Jagan's target. After seemingly missing the majority of the attacks, the opponent find himself surrounded by all angles and no sooner does this dawn on him than they converge on his location collectively.

Shunkan Idou - Also known as Instantaneous Movement, this technique allows the user to move faster than the speed of light by locking onto another being's ki.

Shockwave - a kiai dome that radiates from his body at various frequencies, usually as a defensive maneuver.

Art of the Two Layers - This is a melee skill that improves on the traditional punch. A punch is when you apply force to something with your fist. All objects carry resistance, so the force of the punch is not fully transferred to the object. In other words, some force is wasted. The secret of the Two Layers is this:
You bring your fist against an object with the joint of your fingers closest to your knuckles impacting the object. Then, the instant that impact meets the objects resistance, a second blow is delivered by folding your fist normally. That impact is transferred without having to meet the resistance, thus significantly damaging, if not destroying the object. borrowed from jade's profile

After Image - the ability to use extremely high speed to relocate one's self while leaving behind a vapor trail.

Name: Ravana
Race: Saiya-jin
Age: 35
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 176 lbs.

Appearance: being a Saiya-jin, Ravana has a natural athletic warrior build. He only has about 6% body fat and the rest is pure bio-engineered Saiya-jin muscle. A strange twist however is his cornrow hairstyle, but he still retains the black eyes and brown tail indigenous to his people. Naturally, Ravana proudly adorns himself with traditional Saiya-jin attire, with a white body suit and a more modern shoulder-less and crotch guard-less black armor top to match the boots and gloves. His tail of course is wrapped around his waist like a belt and usually never comes undone.

Personality: Of course this one is arrogant and over confident. Even were he not bio-engineered, he would be full of himsefl and his power. So the fact that he considers himself the perfect Saiya-jin is only gonna add fuel to the fire. He's quick to boast and quick to fight, and of course can be easily angered by anyone who doubts his power or treats him like an inferior. Under his sleeve is a plethora of ace cards, but even without them he's got enough power in an eyelash to raise hell.

Abilities: Of course as a Saiya-jin his sense of smell excels that of humans, but most everything else is about the same, just more sharply tuned. He is also adept at the basics of course.

Big Bang - Ravana extends one arm and opens his palm, holding it up as though to stay stop. He collects a vast amount of ki that he releases as a sphere. Upon impact, this technique results in a massive and powerful explosion.

Final Flash - the Saiya-jin extends both hands outward from the side of his body as he gathers ki and then brings his hands together in front of him at the base of the palms, from which he releases a large golden beam that consumes everything in its path.

Kamehameha - one of the most famous ki waves, Ravana cups his hands behind his back and gathers energy before thrusting both arms forward and firing it directly at his target.

Kienzan - the razor sharp energy disc that cuts through most anything.

Master of Energies - Ravana can fire any basic blast of ki from any part of his body at any time as though he were firing from his hands. borrowed from Carl

Super Saiya-jin - despite his raw base form power, Ravana can also transform as high as Super Saiya-jin 3.

Oozaru - Sense his tail is intact, Ravana retains the ability to become a Great Ape, however, unlike traditional Saiya-jin, he has a nifty trick. Most Saiya-jin have to wait until a night of a visible full moon to induce the transformation. However, the doctor was able to redirect this effect by stimulating the frontal lobe's impulse control which in turn convinces the occipital lobe that the body is staring at a full moon, which the parietal lobe then identifies and generates a reaction to. Put simply, Ravana can choose when to transform at any point. As if that weren't bad enough, he has access to the Golden Ape transformation as well.

Name: Diana
Species: Black Mamba
Age: 27
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 140 lbs

Appearance: Diana is a well curved woman with cascading brown hair flowing down to her lower back. Her face is the image of perfection magnified by the unique masterfully fitted green, reptilian eyes. Flawlessly tanned skinned radiates like a vision of a long legged goddess. She protects her womanhood with a green bodysuit that is only exposed from the waist up. Her second layer of clothing consists of a matching set of brown jeans and an opened button-down jacket that only just reaches her lower ribs. The cuffs and collar of the jacket and the hem of the pants are lined with faux fur. Preferring not to wear shoes, only the body suit, which pokes out under her pants, protect her feet.

Personality: She can be a little cocky, but is generally too well mannered. So much so that it's almost impossible to think she's being good for goodness sake. Flair doesn't really appeal to her too much and she's just as likely to kill someone with some flashy display of skill as she would by sniping them or catching them off guard. She is actually a proud fighter, but a bit lazy and likes things done as quickly as possible. However sometimes she'll play with her target because in the end she has nothing bu confidence in her abilities.

Abilities: Diana is very unique as she is the only one able to re design her bone structure to make her skeletal system very dense of highly flexible. As a result she can slither about stealthily or wrap herself around an opponent and crush it. Her vision is also unique due her ability to shift her lens back and forth for focus, but in turn her hearing is more sensitive to a smaller range of sound frequencies. Her sense of taste dominates her smelling and she'll hunt with her tongue sooner than any other part of her body, which is why she'll most often lick her lips with her lips (though it doesn't explain why she does so suggestively). A close second is her ability to react to air vibrations to guide her movement. One nasty little addition to her make up however is the poison that she secretes through her fangs and to a lesser degree, in her saliva. The concentration in her teeth is high enough to do fatal damage within hours without treatment, leaving her prey dead no later than half a day. Her salivic concentration however is so slow, initially attacking the nervous system slowly. She two is a master of the basics of ki manipulation.

Regeneration - though it takes a matter of a few hours, Diana can regenerate any lost limb, organs, bone, tissue, etc. so long as her brain is intact.

Name: Luke
Race: Human
Age: 27
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 230 lbs.

Appearance: Luke is a pretty boy with a head full of blonde hair. Despite his weight, it is mostly attributed to the experiments done to him, and not a matter of obesity. In fact he is quite muscular, especially in the upper body. He's so heavy because his skeletal and muscular structure have been redesigned to resist damage. Back to his hair, it is a drape of blonde locks that fall to his mid back and sometimes over his beautiful baby blue eyes. Under all circumstances, he keeps his face clean shaven and his hair tidy. Preferring to dress luxuriously, he only wears suit or tuxedo style pants of many colors to match his silk or satin, long sleeve button down shirts which are always courteously tucked. His belts are made of Italian leather and the buckles are always well polished. Despite the price of his shoes, he refuses to take them off even in combat.

Personality: Luke enjoys looking good no matter what the situation. He also despises messes. Anything that scuffs his shoes, rips his shirts, tears his pants, or breaks his skin doesn't go well with him. However, since such problems are always easily remedied, he doesn't let himself get too upset about it all. He enjoys the finer things in life, like wine, furs, exotic rugs you're not supposed to step on, but he commonly indulges more on the lay pleasures of life and is just as content.

Abilities: As the perfected human, Luke has improved everywhere in terms of vision, hearing, smelling, touching, and even tasting. He isn't as adept as most of his allies, but he'd definitely out match any human. His mastery of the basics is of course a given by now for anyone who has not noticed a pattern.

Auto Repair - because his body has been fitted with bio nano technology, Luke is able to regenerate or repair most parts of his body to perfection, save the brain, and if too critical, his heart and lungs as well.

Infrared vision - during his operation, the doctor rotated the optical nerves so that they pointed further outward on either side and implanted an infrared lens for Luke's convenience.

Weapon: Sometimes, and usually completely at random, Luke likes to use a whip in battle. There's nothing particularly special about them, but he sometimes charges it with his energy for some very critical attacks.

Name: Raion
Species: Lion
Age: 23
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 140 lbs.

Appearance: A lovely tanned woman who's easy on the eyes, Raion seems to make everything about her shine like gold from her sun bathed skin to her light brown, shoulder-length hair. Her eyes hide all of her knowledge behind deep brown orbs of curiosity. Though, mostly normal her eyes too have that feline touch, and her usually round ears are set higher up than most humans, hiding in her hair. As though to try and define herself apart from the others, she likes to wear hip hugging jeans which cling to her skin. The right leg holds on to her and reveals the truly shapely form of her limb while the left leg is cut short at about mid thigh and expertly frayed so as not to unravel, allowing her left leg to glisten unperturbed. She prefer halter top black shirts, but in light of the fact that one wrong move would leave her topless, she usually switches out with some plain colored tank instead and an accompanying pair of shoes to match.

Personality: Raion is feisty, and by feisty I mean what she wants she takes, and if she can't have it, she'll destroy it. A bit curious at times, her behavior doesn't mix well with itself, being detrimental to her or her adversary. Extremely competitive, she detests retreat after she has started fighting, and is likely to lose her temper if forced to withdraw. Nonetheless, she'll move to protect her allies even if it means losing a kill. She's very loyal and does not often make a move for her own sake unless it means the preservation of the unit, but this does not mean she'll refuse to 'defend' herself from anyone foolish enough to attack her.

Abilities: Raion is particularly keen to sight, watching her victims carefully before a hitting them with an unbelievably powerful attack. Though it's probably obvious, she too is quite adept at the basics.

After Image: though not quite as good as Jagan, she too can move in quick bursts of speed, leaving behind a vapor trail to deceive her prey.

Key Blades: on occasion, Raion will concentrate her ki just over the back of her arms in the form of blades usually no longer than two feet in length that are as sharp as kienzan.

Telepathy - collectively Unit 97 has an extremely powerful telepathic connection. They are always able to communicate regardless of locale. Each mind is protected by a series of blocks that support and reinforce one another, creating what basically sounds like white noise to anyone trying to get into their head. Because of this, breaking into their mind is impossible and even the most successful psychics usually only end up hearing their own thoughts diverted back to them. Even assuming one of them is unconscious, it is unlikely that they would all stay asleep at the same time, therefore at least one person is always up safe guarding the others from intrusion.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 02, 2007 7:10 am

To start things off, I suppose I'll explain how Unit 97 will operate in this guild. First of all, take note that all members of 97 are NPCs, and can be played by anyone in the guild at any time except for Vali. Of the seven, four are not to be killed as they have stories of their own in relation to specific characters already in TS. Those four are Vali, Mani, Diana, and Ravana. However this does not mean you cannot fight them, it simply means your character cannot kill them. Either they retreat (which isn't likely to be due to an a** whooping) or you do (or die).

These NPCs will not just appear wherever you want. All except Ravana will take no direct interest in any of the guild members, meaning your character initiates any fighting that takes place. Until they are approached, they will not, unless orchestrated by myself, move away from their current locations. In other words, if you want to fight them, go to them. Their locations are as follows.

Vali: won't be showing up anywhere
Mani: Darkwood Forest
Jagan: Waterfall Valley Arena (Western Jungle Field)
Ravana: Wherever User/Jade see fit
Diana: Marshland Arena (Western Jungle Field)
Luke: Eastern Mountain Range
Raion: Canopy Skyscrape Arena (Western Jungle Field)

Most times you will not see them enter CO unless they have the express purpose of hunting me down in which case they are likely to come collectively and not alone. However, if you desire, they can chase you down to CO, but after the fight they will return to the locations designated.

You do not have to eventually kill these characters. Though the story begins this summer, I intend for Keno to be involved with another story that takes slight precedence this season and the last fight will likely occur either over Christmas or some time into next year. The more characters you leave alive, the more fun you can have with them.

On that note, be rational about this. Their data is coming soon, but acknowledge that I did in fact engineer these characters to be overall superior to all characters except Sir Aaron. Use wit and cunning as befits you, but do not expect much anything you do to cause massive harm to them, at least for the summer.

Okay so recap in case you don't want to read all of that or got confused:
1) Anyone can roleplay a member(s) of Unit 97 except for Vali.
2) Vali, Mani, Ravana, and Diana cannot be killed except by sepcified guild members, but they are open to attack from anyone.
3) All NPCs must be approached if you desire to fight them, even if your character is just wandering around by chance. Only Ravana will go out of his way to approach User and Jade.
4) No NPC strays away from the locations designated above, so any fight against them must take place in the corresponding thread, or at lease being there.
5) The characters don't have to be killed by any member of the guild, and none should be killed by the end of summer unless previously specified at which point it's up to the member involved. As things stand now, most all characters are too weak to seriously or permanently harm.

Anything you think needs specifying or to be included here, feel free to either ask in the thread or PM me.

Addition: I forgot to mention, none of the data in this thread is initially an IC explanation to anything. The information is provided so you know how to RP as each character and understand some of their habits in combat and society. I don't want to see anyone RPing as though they know this information without explaining how they gathered such information.

Test Subject: Mani

Mani has proven to be an incredible child. There were concerns about performing the procedure so early, but to date there has been nothing but positive feedback and growth in his development. The sensitivity of his nose and ears are slightly more acute than was calculatd and has matured without fail. He's displayed a high amount of stamina in all fields requiring physical exertion, particularly running. Such a phenomenal amount of endurance at such an age is more than we could have hoped for and beyond our expectations. About a year ago he decided he would engage in speed exercises. Wanting to observe the outcome, we readily consented and as we thought he has excelled yet again. To date he has been able to run for an hour at a velocity of Mach 2250 (1,691,190 mph). This still pales in comparison to Jagan, but the rapid growth leads us to believe he is capable of becoming the swiftest among the party in a matter of only two more years.

His power too is extraordinarily high, often times irritating Ravana in combat exercises. Not only will he never stay down, but he's asserted himself as being just as skilled and deadly a fighter as the season Saiya-jin. Despite this though, both usually emerge from such exercises laughing, only for Ravana to become enraged again during the next bout. For these reasons, we have reduced the frequency of Mani-Ravana rounds.

The child displays awkward behavior when went to hunt. For our experiments we use criminals given multiple death sentences and release them into a controlled environment. Individually or collectively, the unit will obediently pursues as ordered and leaves any other undisturbed unless a futile resistance emerges. Thus far anyone ordered to be left alive has been subdued without severe harm. In such scenarios Mani will usually wait until he receives further instruction from the rest of the unit. When sent on his own however, he toys with his opponents and usually resorts to pawing and biting at the criminals. There is also the nasty habit of refusing to let go once he's gotten a firm grip between his teeth. Several times he has returned literally carrying the target in his mouth, refusing to let go until ordered to do so from a superior, usually myself, Vali, or a commanding officer. These same victims usually return with minor scratches and at least one wounded leg.

On his killing missions, Mani often takes much longer, displaying a feint unwillingness to harm the targets by issuing a volley of swift yet overall harmless attacks that do little more than phase the prey. After they become accustomed to this, he will usually switch styles last minute and rip out their throats with his teeth or remove an entire limb before suffocating them. Rumors have circulated that Mani is indeed the most powerful member of Unit 97, however according to all recorded data, we are not yet certain of the accuracy of this statement.

Test Subject: Jagan

Jagan has been nothing more than a miraculous addition to Unit 97. The composition of his body was supposed to give his limbs great strength, and acute hearing and smelling capabilities. However he was expected to be much slower to accommodate his size. This hasn't turned out to be the case. In fact, he should be slower than Mani rather than the other way around, but from day one he has taken speed training to supplement the mandatory strength and endurance exercises we have assigned him. His maximum velocity has been most recently clocked at Mach 4400 (3,307,216 mph), and despite reassurance that he could give this training, he has insisted that he be allowed to improve further. Coupled with his great strength and large frame, he's practically unstoppable by any force we throw at him.

He uses his build to his advantage and generally excels at absorbing impact without consequence. Raion has been known to leave him with a few bruises, usually in the aftermath of one of her temper tantrums. Ravana has tried to out muscle him, but both have remained virtually even since the contest began. There have been a few cases in which Diana has poisoned him more severely than she should have, but only in such cases has he ever been incapacitated.

On solo missions, he generally renders any target he is to capture immovable, usually simply through sheer force. As they are unable to escape his grasp, he may even carry a squirming criminal back into the base. When it comes to killing though, he wastes little effort in being elegant and prefers a direct assault, usually never exceeding a single strike, to completely crush whatever may be in his way. In such cases, the head and chest tend to be his favorite locations on the human body. Occasionally he'll be a big arrogant and break his victims' legs and watch them try pathetically to escape before taking them out of their misery.

Most phenomenal though is the fact that he can make himself almost completely untouchable at will. Why he went to such lengths is not understood since his natural build prevents most anything from harming him anyway. It seems a trifle matter to most and so little has been asked of him about the topic.

Test Subject: Ravana

Ravana was a separate project of his own. Not being from this planet, we were initially unsure as to how to go about the procedure with him. In the end he refused any persuasion to undergo the process anyway so we took an alternative route. After studying what we could of his species, we offered to make him more powerful by maximizing his abilities without risk to his lifespan. Fortunately for our sakes it was a success and the result was a greater capacity for energy growth as well as optimal motor capability. He seems pleased with the work done on him, if not a bit too proud. It seems his competitive spirit grew along with his power, making him an occasional headache to the ladies who must endure his proud talks of his alien heritage. The men pay him no mind and it's obvious to us that were it not for the fact that the group stands on level ground, this could lead to a violent catastrophe the lab is not prepared for.

Ravana likes to leave himself well rounded, but takes pride in strength more than anything else. He constantly wrestles with Jagan and until six months ago Mani to keep himself at the top, but he has yet to actually overcome either of them, merely ending most fights in a draw, which he counts as a personal loss. However, regardless of his physical standing, he has by far the most amount of energy stored for any battle. It is extremely rare to actually see him transform, but when he does, Jagan cannot hope to contend as equally as he desires. Due to Mani's endurance and spontaneity though, he is quite humble about his ability to become instantly more powerful than the others.

A rare exception however is when he transforms into a massive ape. According to research, the combination of keeping his tail intact and staring at the full moon gives him an exponentially superior amount of power that apparently can only be stored inside this colossal frame. Like Jagan, it was predicted he'd be a great deal slower in this state, but quite the contrary he has instead proven to be just as quick and agile as if he were human sized. Though perhaps only adding fuel to the fire, I thought it best were we to allow such a trait to become a voluntary ability should the need ever arise in absence of a full moon and as a result, through surgery and a bit of hypnosis, which I personally find unorthodox, have succeeded in allowing him to will into the transformation day or night and even override the direct effect of the moonlight.

He's a surprisingly efficient fighter and hunter. Games are not to his liking in the least, at least not with humans, who he sees as too inferior and degrading a race to show mercy on. When he is sent to kill, he is back withing a matter of a few minutes or quicker if he can track his victim down faster. Usually he will follow an unnatural or generally vague human scent so we have recently saturated the controlled environment with various human body odors, most belonging to personnel that work here or corpses of other targets not yet cremated. Even with this disadvantage, he returns quickly usually with a body that has suffered one crippling wound and a fatal one and but occasionally on a good day with an instant corpse with some sort of spinal or cranial damage.

When the objective is to return a convict however, it's usually a bloodier show. Disfigurement, broken bones, collapsed lungs, brain damage, and complete amputation are his methods not only of immobilizing them, but of silencing as he hates the sound of their screaming on the way back. In every such situation he has returned with a sour expression on his face and usually snaps at anyone, even superiors, who dares compliment him on his performance.

Test Subject: Diana

It is most accurate to say that among our subjects, Diana has undergone the most extreme base metapmorphosis. Her eyes themselves have improved in their ability to focus and has increased her vision to be much better than it was before the procedure, when she had to use corrective lenses. After careful analysis, we have found that her external ears have serve no real purpose and that inside her head, directly behind her ears are the very same quadrate one would find in snakes. The hertz range to which she is most sensitive has then fallen to be between 50 and 10000 as opposed to 16 and 20000. This does not seem to be that severe an issue though and tests have shown she can still higher and lower sounds, but with less success. Her sense of smell has become attached to her ability to taste, as her tongue has transformed to be sensitive to air particles, but since it is not forked, she cannot immediately tell in which direction something is coming or going. Oddly enough, and most mysterious about her, is the fact that her bone can be softened like tissue or hardened like ordinary marrow at her own will. How this has come about is beyond any of us as no black mamba is known to be able to do anything remotely familiar.

Quick by human standards, Diana is generally slow compared to the other subjects, though when fleeing she gains a substantial increase in this area, which we believe to be a defense mechanism. Despite the fact that she moves slowly, she does strike effectively and with great precision even in split second circumstances, as when she is paired off against Jagan, Ravana, or Mani. She has displayed feats of strength similar to Mani's, but often does not attack with full force, but rather puts more pressure on victims she has in her grip, either crushing them, or causing a collapse in breathing muscles.

Unfortunately, she has become more diurnal than we would have desired and becomes steadily more useless as night approaches and usually removes herself from highly active situations and goes somewhere to rest, though we haven't figured out where yet. To her credit she is often first to rise.

The venom that she produces is as potent as we suspected it might, be and despite how quickly it can kill, she usually dilutes it with her own saliva before injecting it into her victims, causing them severe paralysis and an unfortunately slower death than were they bitten by an actual mamba. This works in their favor however if they are able to receive treatment.

Because she is most effective at using this venom, she is more prone to use it as night approaches or when she's in a foul mood. Many victims, whether they were to be returned dead or alive, often have traces of venom in their system, though occasionally she'll deliver a suffocated corpse and on worse days pieces of human. We have monitored her behavior more diligently lately in hopes of reducing the days she will bring some unheard of human remain. Performing autopsies on them proves most useless at that point anyway.

Test Subject: Luke

Luke was intended to be a basic control specimen who would have received the same operation as Ravana. His growth would then be compared to Vali, Mani, Diana, Raion, and Jagan to see which method would produce the most desired results. In the end, we decided to upgrade his body to effectively make him super human. Though not exactly a biological masterpiece like my other work, he has served to demonstrate that humans can receive and maintain without negative consequence some technological enhancements to their body.

Unfortunately, Luke only seems to keep himself on par with his colleagues, and never really strives to overcome them. That is to say, we can tell if there is any desire to become superior or not so whether or not a human with technological is a better choice over any one of the other subjects. What is known is that he can at least stand on par against them, and for now we will have to be content with that.

Luke puts an unnecessary amount of time into his appearance, but doesn't hesitate to get himself messy - at the expense of his victim no less. He prefers to do things just because they'll be done and he can be left alone. Therefore his performance has been relatively static and no real improvements have been documented. There have been test on the nano machinery in his body and it has proven thus far to repair or rebuild anything that has been destroyed or removed. We've yet to remove an entire limb, but we did rip off his left ring finger, which grew back in a matter of three hours. We assume the same result would take place, but we'd rather only find out in the worst case scenario.

His infrared installations have also proven to operate efficiently and has not yet needed any maintenance, though we still run routine checks on him to be sure everything is remaining optimal.

Among his peers, it seems the only member who has any real distaste for him is Ravana, who ridicules him for his laziness. My fellow researchers have expressed the same sentiments, but only for research purposes. The ladies do not seem to be intrigued by him at all, and he does not seem to care.

Therefore, though Luke is operating optimally, what he's completely capable of is still beyond of. There are many calculations and predictions, but to date, his lack of enthusiasm has only hindered our research.

Test Subject: Raion

The subject Raion behaves more as a human than as a lion. there is some relief of this as lions generally are inactive for most of the day. However, the great strength and physical prowess of the big cat is not alien to her. Her ears are a bit rounder than before and have risen higher on her head, hiding in her hair. That, along with her feline eyes seem to be the only external signs of the operation's success.

She has displayed large amounts of strength, and even excellent defense potential, but she lacks the stamina needed to fare well against Ravana or Mani. Occasionally Luke will take her on out of sport, but he has yet to out-muscle her. She focuses a lot on her endurance and has tried to increase it, but it's a steady and not very rapid process for her. Supposedly she would have been able to beat Mani in a race had she not tired out, but this was off the record and she refuses to be timed officially, to which we honestly can't do anything about.

When she is sent to capture a target, she usually attempts to get close before beginning her assault. She has said she would prefer long distance, but it is impractical because of the terrain. Either there is too much cover, or not enough. Unsure of what to make of this, the data has been recorded, but otherwise ignored. However, to either end she does an excellent job at retrieving and delivering them intact, usually unharmed when brought back alive. The corpses usually suffer strangulation or head trauma. Though she, like Diana, displays a bit of laziness, she goes to lengths, unlike Luke, to improve herself.

As records stand, the most dangerous thing about Raion is her competitive spirit, which is the only aspect of her being which can push her to overcome the stigma of her stamina and actually optimize her potential. It is usually best not to over stimulate her for these purposes and she'll display herself as an alpha in a heartbeat if ordered to back away from any fight regardless of her chances of survival.

Test Subject: Vali

Our information on Vali has recently been sent away for review and we have not yet been able to make duplicate documents. We speculate that after the X-0-0 mission, Vali will be used for field missions in actual military conflict. In case the data is not returned to me, I am currently in the process of compiling a new file that, if nothing else, will record his progress and growth from today onward.

In the Northern American Rockies, the Unit sat about together, each in a general circle formation. Ravana was pacing and Jagan was standing, but everyone else was down. Each looked about as bored as a five year old with a dry piece of bread and water for lunch. Vali's eyes slowly moved between each member patiently, sensing their irritation with him. The most important question of course was 'why did they not kill him yesterday?' He didn't want to answer for it wasn't really their business. They could have if they really wanted to, as sour as it may have made him. The fact that they didn't meant they had reasons to wait as well.

"So what do we know about his allies?"

"They're all slow so there's no need to talk about it further. All I have to do is move in, apprehend the target and escape with him. Once he's alone he's done for." Jagan was clearly unimpressed. They were of course unique, but nothing he couldn't handle, and that he was confident about.

"Wait!" Mani seemed almost to jump out of his skin with excitement before he could get the word out. "There was one guy, the one who tried to catch Diana. He was really fast actually. I was only able to slow him down because I was nearby. He might be able to keep up with you if he goes full power." Clearly delighted at the prospect of someone being able to out run the juggernaut, Mani smiled as he imagined what fun it would be to race someone like that.

Jagan was not nearly convinces, but he was intrigued. The guy had caught up to Diana swiftly, but he summed it up to his using some sort of teleportation technique similar to the Shunkan Idou.

"If he's as fast as you say he is, maybe I'll pay him a visit. I could use a could running mate since you're not up to par yet little one." He laughed together with his mini rival, head flying back as his voice chased the heavens.

Diana was busy licking her lips, as though lost in thought for a moment. Her head slowly rose to catch Vali's eyes upon her. Oh how his gaze made her blood rush. If only he could show a bit of interest in a woman from time to time. Flustered at the thought she cleared her throat to regain focus.

"Well we know for sure there are at least two more like Ravana in the club..."

"Three!"

She glared at her Saiya-jin accomplice, insulted that he interrupted her so rudely. It was his nature, but it wasn't something she generall stood for.

"Three...anyway none of them appear to be worth the clothes on their back. The one I dealt with is very close to KenoTao I do believe. She raced at me blindly and would have paid the price were it not for some friend of hers coming up behind me." She looked a bit put off that she lost her prey so easily, but what of it. There was always another chance later.

"The female should be dealt with cautiously. Her emotional output might lead to a fatal wound even to us if we underestimate the depth of her relationship to the target. However the other one, with the purple hair...he's a psychic as well as a fighter, though not too good performing as either. He was able to place a barrier around himself, KenoTao, and defend against a mental assault well enough, but his capacity is limited and should any one of us go one on one with him, our power to his would be like a bullet train versus a Miata."

"Then beat him at his own game next time Vali!" Ravana stepped up to the calm natured rugged leader of the group, clearly frustrated. "That boy is nothing but a filthy hybrid with sub par combat skills. Destroy him at what he's good at and let him writhe with agony before he dies. He doesn't deserve the mercy of a swift death with such lackluster skills.

"At least he fought. You were so busy being critical you just stood around for most of the fight, not even getting your knuckles dirty." Raion scoffed at him as her eyes darted away, a harsh insult that practically suggested he wasn't even worth looking at right now while he was being addressed.

"Excuse me woman? I don't remember seeing you or Luke out there for too long either. You did your job and that was all. How dare you criticize me for doing the same?" Of all the members of his Unit, Luke pissed him off the most, usually standing around as though he has all the free time in the world. Raion on the other hand always had something to say to him about his own performance and it was never a compliment.

"Since you're so disappointed with my methods, I'll just go an kill him myself!"

"Fine! See if I care. You probably won't even get past the front door anyway." And before she could even finish this, Ravana had left. She sighed, realizing it was probably not the best thing to have kept picking on him. So what though? Ravana could handle any one of them there if he was truly that bold.

"What about that one guy. He was some sort of demon. He's not that strong but his defense will make things difficult if he gets involved again."

"Mani would be a better match for him. He's not really all that fast, nor does he seem to have a lot of strength, but he did display some ability with electricity. He defends himself with two objects that set up a sort of shield, but in neither instance did I notice him being mobile in the process. Unlike your shockwave, his defense gives you time to get in close. Exploit that."

"There were others there, trying to keep themselves incognito, but I guess we wouldn't know about them would we. The most important question is 'what do we know about KenoTao?' He's our objective but we've yet to see him actually do anything."

"He's slow.

"He's weak.

"Very weak."

"He's a lot like me. Don't underestimate him. He might have gone down, but he wasn't out and I'd be surprised if Diana's bite actually pierced his flesh. He was trying to watch us, and though I doubt he learned much, his friends who dealt with us will likely consult him before long." The six sat silently, Luke was off in his own world anyway; someone would bring him up to date.

"Do as you will. In about a month we'll regroup and plan our next move. Learn what you can however you wish, but don't do anything stupid..."

Atop the northern Rockies, he sat in silence, unawares or unaffected by the cold. The air was still so high up, but the pressure was low and he had to pace his breathing lest his body freak out and suffer from oxygen deprivation. It wasn’t all that bad, but he was unaccustomed to such heights nonetheless and it was best not to press his luck. A month should have passed by now he figured, so the others would be back soon. How so unlike them he was, and yet he felt for them, empathized with their plight, though he did not quite understand what their plight was. They just always seemed to be so upset and ready to lash out.

He always felt as though he were the odd man out. Among the others, he seemed not to completely adhere to this obviously overwhelming malice that had consumed them to the core. They did well not to draw attention to themselves on their little vacation, but nevertheless he knew the only reason not one had stepped out of line, even Ravana, was that they were afraid of him. Truth be told he didn’t feel himself to be all that threatening, least bit to his comrades. Still, they understood as well as he did that he could enforce any will he wanted upon them with little if any effort; a trait that had less to do with power and more to do with respect. He was harmless he thought, but they knew better, he knew better, and that’s why he had to lead them.

Several times in the past he offered each of them take the role, all except young Mani. The ladies had declined and Luke was much too lazy for it. Ravana tried once, much to the criticism of the rest of the group and the COs back at the lab. He personally had to step in and stop the Saiya-jin from doing something insane, something that he seemed to have to do time and again. When the first time was that the two butted heads he didn’t even know. How many times he did not know. Regardless his was the only presence that seemed to disturb the alien enough to behave in a civil manner, which sometimes meant running off for a while and abandoning the unit.

He always came back though and today was no different.

Scanning his troops, his unit, his men – and women – he acknowledged each one of them with barely a nod. They remained idle, awaiting his orders, his request, whatever it is he might say. This was usually the routine it appeared, and although this was their first real mission, he personally felt as though this were no different from a field test. That could be good or bad in the future, but for now it was fine.

Luke sat in the snow with his arms crossed, a bit chilled but too stubborn to complain about it. Vali wasn’t one to negotiate with anyway and the pretty boy wouldn’t likely die from being so high up. He started to curse his designer fur lined long coat until he realized how elegant it made him look. That made him grin, despite his misery and it was enough to encourage him to sit tight a bit longer. It was foolish to the others, but he really had no life outside his collection of only the ‘best’ in fashion. Knowing this, the others often left him alone with his luxuries.

Opting to stand, poor Diana was wrapped up as tightly as she could. She could bear the cold no better than Luke – in fact she endured it a lot worse than he did. Knowing Vali likely wouldn’t budge, she made a point to go shopping for warmer clothing, coming up with thin long sleeve underarmor top that hugged her bare skin like a glove, a thick white cotton turtle neck, an autumn brown sweater, and a puffy jacket from the Soutpole apparently with a fur lined hood and cuffs, all worn in layers respectively with a pair of blue jeans and winter boots. To her, nothing would be better than leaving that wretched place, but she hardly thought about it unless something made her legs quiver at which case she became noticeably less comfortable. Perhaps if she could manage to entice their leader to share a night with her she’d have more influence in decision making. Likely she wouldn’t care though as a night with him would be more than she could ever hope for.

The others hadn’t changed much at all. Raion especially seemed to maintain her own style of having cut the right leg of a pair of black jeans off up to the mid thigh and then fraying it so carefully that it wouldn’t unravel the rest of the way up. Why she liked that fashion no one could understand, but it worked for her in every situation, with only her top ever changing. Today she had what looked like a thin white spaghetti strap beneath a jean jacket that stretched for her wrists, but was only met up to a white glove on either hand. Barely any protection at all, but she seemed fine.

The rest endured the weather beautifully and showed not even the least bit of discomfort in the snow. It was clear to him though that only Diana and Luke really had any problem with the climate. Raion liked to look cute and dress appropriately – or at least as appropriately as possible considering her choice in pants. Well to either end they were all here and there was no point in keeping them any longer.

We will strike again soon, but we cannot simply move in the way we did last time. Knowing the threat of psychics out there, he decided not to take the chance that they had the most impenetrable minds on the planets. There was always a bigger fish somewhere, and he only knew so many firsthand. To eliminate the target, we will first have to isolate him from his allies. Do we know how many people would come to his aid?

On our first encounter, there were six to my count, maybe more. Only five interfered though.

That automatically brings their numbers to six and that’s a minimum. We’ve still no idea who may have been absent from that encounter.

And we can’t lightly disregard friends of friends. A man with many networks can uproot an army right under our noses.

What do you mean?

Simply that if his close friends have other close friends, then people who have no ties to him might involve themselves for personal reasons. Heaven forbid that those friends of friends bring their friends, and so on.

That is a very valid point Diana. Unfortunately, even if we think that far ahead, the only result is discouragement and we should not submit ourselves to such feelings. It is better to assume we won’t have to deal with such an issue. Besides, unless these alleged people are currently scouting every chance they’ve got, they won’t possibly have enough time to assist anyone. Instead let’s try and figure out the best way to draw KenoTao out in the open or draw as many away form him as possible without decreasing our numbers too drastically.

So then we’ll need to distract a few of them?

Not distract. Impair. Even if we pull them away, it will do no good if they can return to his side. Unfortunately, the only thing we can do is try to immobilize his forces…even exterminate them if necessary…

You make it sound so heartbreaking! We’ve already warned them not to interfere did we not? Besides, the best way to keep them from rescuing him is to get rid of them and what better way than to kill them?

I would suggest simply immobilizing them if possible.

How exactly do you plan on doing that? Even if we break their legs, they will crawl. Break their arms and they’ll fly. Crush their bones to powder and I guarantee they will prove themselves able to function without their bodies. Even I know this Vali! Don’t be so juvenile as to think they need a body to fight.

What makes you think they don’t?

I didn’t spend all this time moping over your worthless insults Raion. I actually read up on different forms of combat.

Wait a minute…you can read?!

Dammit woman, shut up and listen! The point is that not everyone fights the way we do. They have different energies and different techniques with which to beat us, even if we are faster, stronger, and more agile than they are. It would be foolish to leave them half dead since we don’t fully know who can do what.

There are many things about them we don’t know about them Ravana, but for the sake of getting this done as quickly as possible, we have to utilize the most effective strategy as soon as possible.

Are you sure you want to do this now Vali? You don’t seem to be too confident in our success.

It’s not that I don’t think we can win, but rather that I don’t think we will.

What’s the difference?

The difference is that I know we can do this, but as to rather we can pull it off so early eludes me. We may need more time to analyze the potential stored within that club.

Well then let’s toy with them a bit then. We can just lure them out and test them until we’re confident with how to handle them.

The drawback to that form of reconnaissance of course is that they’ll have plenty of time to study us as well.

The bum has a point. We may not know a lot about them, but they don’t know much about us either. It would be best if we kept our potential under the radar until absolutely necessary.

Otherwise we may actually get in over our heads for a change.

You’re being awfully quiet Jagan. Something bothering you?

Not really. I agree that it’s probably best to simply eliminate any units on the side of the target. Casualties are better left on their side rather than ours.

Are you really afraid for our lives or are you just anxious to kill something?

Does that really matter? A good idea is a good idea and you should give Ravana some credit.

I thought so.

Let’s put it to a vote, I’d rather be off doing something else than listen to all this idle chatter.

Agreed. All in favor of surveying the enemy’s numbers and power speak now.

I’d rather be safe than sorry.

So would I.

All in favor of moving in now and taking out the target should speak now.

We’ve been more than generous as things stand. There’s no reason for us to wait any longer.

His friends will be there no matter when we strike. We might as well just deal with them.

Luke and Mani, you haven’t voted.

I’d much rather we be done with this already. I see no reason in putting it off further.

I really don’t care. I just want to end this conversation.

That effectively makes it three to two to one. We move in soon, but now we have to form a plan of attack. Sorry Mani, but you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
