because he was my teacher. he never lied.
I strongly believe what he says. He is more than a teacher to me.
he's a friend and i believe that everyone deserves a second chance. No one is perfect and if he lied then i believe he has learnt his lesson. apart from saying his god story and admitting that wasn't true, what else was he supposed to have lied about?

also i have exams now so my reply might be delayed several days or even a week so keep signing please.

Its a signature of forgiveness, if you think how many bad things people have done in this world and all he's done is lied and you're acting like he's killed someone. Haven't your friends ever lied to you, haven't you forgiven them? I believe in Sam and his abilities...

I said it once, and I'll say it again...the ignorance in the community sickens me.

He DID lie, he DID get a second chance, he failed on both of those issues severely. He's gone now, if you want to be in a guild with him, go to one he's in, but he wont be coming back here.

Didn't you even read my post? It was Sam's idea to leave, not ours. Chances are, he's just using you to get back in so he can delete his posts and leave again. Is that what you want? If you really want him back in, present an actual argument, not just, "Sam's a good person who deserves a second chance. Let him back in because two people say so."

As for seeing him as a liar and a bad person, you admit that he lied. As far as I know, the definition of liar is someone who lies. Lies don't necessarily make someone a bad person, but lying isn't the only evidence to support that claim. If you've taken a chance to look around, he was a complete a** to almost everyone. At least in his older posts. I mean, I know he can have a civil side. I've had a few conversations over AIM that were almost pleasant. But that doesn't mean he's beneficial to the guild. I believe he has serious self-esteem issues that he needs to work out. And you can tell him I said that, if you like.

Lying about s**t is all well and good, but when you do it in a community based on magick, it causes heaps of trouble. Let's face it, none of us have a set-in-stone way of telling if any of us are telling the truth, we've got to take it in faith that the folk we talk to aren't making s**t up. If it's proven that someone's been faking or lying, I personally think they should get once chance, then told to GTFO if it happens again. Sam had his chance, as everyone's pointed out.

The only things I've seen with regards to Sam and lying are his confession that he is not in fact angelkin, and this webcam proof of energy manipulation or something (which never happened after, what, two weeks? For someone as adept as he makes himself out to be, that's a long time to be magickally impotent, je pense). I've read his posts, and though I can't back it up, it seems to me like he wants to come across as some sort of Archmage with all the know-how. He freaks out at the fact that he got powerstripped, even though - apparently - all he wanted to do was teach folk; if it were so, he'd be more than happy to let his teachings thus far stay where they are, but no, he threatens to remove them all. That's slightly indicative of someone who's not here to teach, but to show off the size of their magick-member.

I'd be willing to take FLCL back in. I've personally gone through and locked his threads, so we don't need to worry about them going away.

We can give him another chance. I really do think he can make progress... just don't put him in a position of power.

Hierarchical command structures lend people towards weighing the opinions of the "higher ups" more heavily than the "grunts." If he is not a "higher up," then his will be viewed on par with any regular member (not to say all "regular members" are viewed equally).

My point being:

New member joins. Crew member says "I can make people's teeth explode!" New member trusts this, foolishly, because the crew member has rank/position... meaning they must know something, or at least be very trustworthy
