It was in mid afternoon. Or at least, thats what Hakim thought it was. The sun was right over his head. It bared down at him as he slowly made his way towards a small stream. He bent down and starting lapping up some water with his tongue.
About time you got us water. The voice came into his head again. What was with the us? There was only one of him. Was he going crazy. Yes, you are going crazy. He knew why he didn't talk anymore, he didn't have to having mental fights with himself. Or whatever else was in his head.
Will you shut up already, your boring me. It said again. Well, that was really annoying. Why couldn't he just stop those voices? Because you don't want to. He couldn't get away from them no mater what he did. He couldn't think without the voice saying something rude to him.
He sat up, water dripping from his lower jaw. He closed his eyes and tried to stop thinking of everything. To just relax. It was the only real time he was alone. Even though it was clear that no one else was here, he wasn't alone.

The sun was shining down onto Ambrosia's fur, the wind gently rustling the trees overhead. She could hear the sound of rushing water, not far off from where she was lying, taking a light nap. She was bored, unbelievably bored. Slowly opening her eyes, she winced from the bright light the sun made. She was also unbelievably thirsty, so thirsty that she might just get up and make the long, long journey to the water she heard.
Looking into the canopy above her, the decision was quickly made and she made the move to roll over onto her stomach and slowly get up. With a yawn and a large stretch, she walked to where she heard the sound of running water. She thought she would be alone, but of course she was wrong.

Hakim's eyes stayed closed for awhile. He took slow and calming breaths. The voice seemed to finally have vanished. He hated how it just came and left. It was like an annoying flea that just comes to suck your blood and hop off for a day or two and then comes back.
He slowly opened his eyes and looked back at the stream. He was still rather thirsty. He bent down and lapped up some more water. Ah, it felt nice going down to his belly.
After he was done drinking his water he turned and stretched alittle. Eyes closed again as he yawned and flopped to the ground. The sun felt almost too hot on his body, but he continued to lay on the soft grass. There wasn't a tree for at least a few yards. Even then, the trees around where he was had hardly any shade under them. It was almost useless.

Was it getting hotter, was it just her. Ambrosia slowly made her way towards the river. There was no shade, so much for shade. She finally saw the river, but she also saw another Ulaya, who looked to be relaxing.
Not wanting to bother the other Ulaya, Ambrosia was contemplating walking a down along the river a little bit more. Thinking this was the best course of action, she as silently as she could, started making her way down the river. Well, as silently as she could, until the evil twig that pops out of no where decides to land right in her path, causing her to step and therefore break the twig. A loud SNAP filled the once silent area. Crud.

Oh great, who wants to kill us now? Hakim jumped up as quickly as he could and looked about. At first he didn't see anything, then he saw a bit of pink in the corner of his eye. He looked to where it was. Kind of confused at first he just staired.
It was a little Ulaya. No really? Strange as it was, this was the first one he'd see so small. Was it a baby or a smaller type of Ulaya. Being curious, he took a step closer. Still not saying anything. It appeared that this little one had a small horn aswell. He raised an brow.
Watch out, it might atttack you. Please, it wouldn't attack him. He was twice the size it was. Oh, come off it. Attack it first and get it over with. What was with this voice! It always wanted to attack. He closed his eyes and shook his head trying to get the thought, the voice out of his head.

Ambrosia stood perfectly still, barely breathing. Her heart beat was racing and she thought of making a quick getaway, but that idea was quickly discarded, seeing as this Ulaya was much larger and would catch up rather quickly. So, seeing no other option but to confront the older, and larger, and more intimidating Ulaya, she turned slowly and started breathing again. Yeah, she was dead. “Uh, hi.” Did her voice sound kind of odd, or was that just her again? The getaway wasn’t looking to be that bad of an idea all of a sudden.

Hakim nodded to the other, not saying a word. He studied her for a moment. He wasn't sure if it was a girl or boy yet. Though, whatever gender it was it was very odd colored. He raised an eyebrow. He sat down right where he was to make sure not to frighten it anymore.
His body was completely still. Finally, he decided he couldn't be quiet any long. "I won't hurt you." He said in a deep low voice. Yes we will. He was glad that the other Ulaya couldn't hear his thoughts, or he hoped it couldn't. He began to try to ignore the voice again. You can't ignore me, I am you.

Ambrosia looked at him, and after studying him for a moment, decided he was being truthful. Letting out the breath she was holding after her few words; she looked to the ground and smiled. “That’s good.” He was still sitting there silently, the noise of the river in the background. She looked up to his face and asked, “What’s your name?” So quiet…

What's it matter to you, small fry? Hakim closed his eyes. He listened to the background a bit then opened again, looking down at the little one. He didn't speak for a few minutes.
"Hakim." He said. His name just rolled out of his mouth, it was easier and easier to talk now, though he felt like keeping silent. It made everything better. He wouldn't annoy anyone, and his thoughts wouldn't accidently come out. It wouldn't be an accident if they did.

By the time he said anything, she was already twitching. Having never met anyone so silent before, or really any one, she didn’t know how to act when waiting for a answer. “That’s a cool sounding name, I’m Ambrosia.” He looked to be ignoring her, and she started backing away, the silence was really getting to her. “Um…sorry I bothered you Hakim, won’t happen again.” She said, hoping he would accept her apology.

Yes go away! That wasn't good, so silence wasn't always the best way. "Sorry, I'm just not use to other people." He said alittle faster this time. So the little one wanted him to reply a bit faster, didn't mean he couldn't be silent. It was going to work out. "I've never actually seen another one of our type. If that's indeed what you are, Ambrosia."

Ambrosia tilted her head to the side. "Oh, I see. What do you mean?" A moment of silence followed. "Do you mean my horn?" She looked up, her eyes going cross, to see her horn. Oh the confusion.

He hadn't even thought about her horn much. She looked similar to his type. "No... I mean in general. I've never seen another like myself. You are similar, despite that horn on your head." He said again. He had a mysterious sounding voice, yet he was not mysterious at all. Well, at least he didn't think so.
The voice had finally stopped seeing how Hakim wasn't paying attention to it anymore. He hoped the young one understood what he was saying.

“Oh, that’s understandable. You’re just a little bigger than me. And your voice is deeper!” Truth be told, Ambrosia had never met another of her kind, and now that he was talking to her more, she was getting excited! Really, another just like herself, minus the horn...It was so cool! And he sounded so mysterious, and it made her slightly curious. What could he possibly be trying to hide? Not that she was going to ask him or anything.

"Well, I am an adult." He replied calmly. He was glad that her attention was back. His curiousity of the other was taking over. Though, there was a part of him, way deep in the back of his thaughts, where he just wanted to walk away. Of course, he knew it was the voice. The part of him that didn't make sense.
He hated how he was, yet he found it comforting over the years of being alone. It was someone to talk to at least, even if it was just in his head. He blinked and smiled. "I'm sure when your older, you'll get bigger and have a deeper voice. Perhaps not as deep as mine." he said simply.
