Name: Elizabeth "Liz" Stevens
Nicknames: Sharpie, Stevie, Spikie and others she'd rather not mention.
Age: 20
Birthplace: Cardiff, Wales
Sign: Aries
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 130 lbs
Eyes: blue-green
Skin: lightly tanned
Orientation: Straight (no seriously she is)
Voice: Mostly smooth yet slightly graveled from smoking adding to her tomboy-ish demeanor. Hints of a Welsh accent still linger off and on in her voice, mainly with the english terms, git, bullocks, and arse. The rest is dominated with a Californian accent.
Ethnicity: Mostly Irish, German and some Welsh
Favorite foods: curly fries, jerky, raspberry danish
Hair: light-sandy blond, bangs in the front sometimes getting in the way of her eyes, spiky/messy in the back. Easy upkeep, just add a little water.
Appearance: She's not runway model material but what natural beauty she may have puts her on the 'easy on the eyes' side of the visual scale. A bit on the muscular side but her feminine figure helps avoid the butch term. Her musculature mostly shows in her arms, gluts(butt) and thighs, usually from running and heavy lifting.
Her skin has a well-tanned sheen to if from spending the last few months in the desert but not before getting a couple of harsh sunburns.
Small scars and fresh stitches are scattered to parts of her body such as her arm and torso from wounds she's received in combat. The ones that are healed look like thin white scratch marks, somethings curving around her arm like a tattooed band.
Current Occupation: Soldier, Seabees division(mechanic/sharpshooter)
Personality: Feisty, eager, cheerful and outgoing, overall a "party starter" or crasher depending on how the others respond to her uppity demeanor. Though it will range between noisy to a quiet serious when contemplating to herself or working hard. Most of the time her tough exterior is just a bluff to keep others from beating her down, she'd hardly consider herself a bad a** so to speak. People around her say she's more accurately a bit of a goof.
She has developed a motherly side that's very rarely seen by her male colleagues due to the fact that female soldiers are treated as inferior. Having the men and women segregate into separate sex groups may not be the best solution but it has helped Liz relax enough to care for any in need.
Likes: Guns, chocolate, snoozing, tanks, swimming, airsoft/paint ball, fishing, arm wrestling.
Dislikes: Her first name, camel-spiders, a**l-retentive drill sergeants, feeling confined or restricted, running out of cherry tobacco, happy hour without the happy.
Strengths: When her mind is set, its hard to keep her away from her goal. Which is good when she needs to complete a mission. Her aim with a weapon is almost dead on every time and it helps being able to fix your own car instead of having to wait for triple A service. Known for her honesty she finds it easier to remember the truth than a lie making it easier for her to be trusted even if its not in the most palettable way.
Weaknesses: Stubborn, obsessiveness, sometimes the need to achieve a certain goal is hard for her to put aside leading to lack of sleep or disobeying orders. Communicating, you'd have a hard time too if a good part of your job was to keep your mouth closed and your ears open for orders. Bluntness, honesty may be a virtue but more often than not will end up hurting someones feelings in a society where any color of lying is a standard.
Reaching the fourth year in the service small signs of PTSD(Post-Traumatic stress disorder) and shell shock have slowly manifested themselves. Yet she keeps denying it saying that she just hasn't had enough sleep drowning her fits of paranoia in smoke and booze. She constantly carries a small knife or sharp tool hidden on her persona to fend off potential attackers making it ill-advised to sneak up on her.
Future goals:To get herself a german Shepard puppy and maybe work as a stunt woman.
Family: Grandmother(deceased)- Never had a chance to see her since she died before she was born.
Grandfather(deceased)- Didn't really get to know him either, died when she was only 10.
Father(estranged)- He did care for her, more so like a boy since he wanted a son. At first he was proud when she joined the military since he and her grandfather did in the past. That is, till he found out that she'd rather shoot a gun than go back home, finish her education and start a business of her own.
Mother(close)- Spent most of their time together out of any other family member until she left. Hasn't seen her for a few years but assures her of her well-being through pictures and letters sent back home.
Education: High school
Hobbies: Tinkering with vehicles, smoking, videogames, playing drinking games with her platoon, paintball/airsofting matches, as well as other things that will help avoid boredom.
Habits: Smoking, drinking, giving noogies to rookie recruits, hitting annoying people with any tools she may have laying around
Abilities: Proficient with most gun types, scuba diving, vehicle repair, fishing, kickboxing, the usual military training
Background: Her parents were originally from the U.S. but temporarily moved when her father was shipped to a military base in Wales where Liz was born. When she reached the age of ten they moved back to the United States after he was discharged from the military.
Although Liz's father raised and treated her more like a son than a daughter her tomboyish tendencies didn't really come through till freshman year when a prank went wrong causing a good length of her hair to be cut short. The one's responsible were sure to get their payment. Her parents weren't pleased about the incident and yet her father was pleased knowing that his daughter could stick up for herself even if it involved physical confrontation.
Barely squeaking by highschool, not because of her grades but with the treatment of the other students. Although they no longer bothered in trying to push her buttons she could tell that they weren't terribly happy to see her. But it was all for the better seeing that she could find better company with the outgroup. After graduating from highschool she cut her hair even shorter till even the longest hairs were only a few inches long and hoped onto the military recruit bandwagon. Her initial goal was to either pilot helicopters like the apache long bow or drive a tank.
However, neither turned out very well by either failing the simulators or being unable to work all the controls correctly. Her real abilities came through during weapons training when she was able to accurately shot a target all the while spending little or no time aiming be it stationary or mobile. Hence the name "sharpie", shortened from sharp shooter not the brand name markers. Same goes to her knowledge in vehicle repair which she learned at her father's machine and car repair shop making her a valuable member of a platoon. And yet, she still had a difficult time earning their respect wondering if part of it was jealousy or it somehow 'threatened' their masculinity.
Around twenty she had spent some time hired as a working on a crab fishing boat in Alaska. The humor and company was more welcoming to work and socialize with but witnessing how grueling the work was and the tiniest dumb mistake would claim and arm, leg or your life. It was best to stick with what she knew best.
Lately she's been stationed in Iraq. Not her most favorite of areas since there's miles of sand that will get everywhere no matter how tightly sealed away your belongings are. Scorpions and camel-spiders are always crawling into your sleeping bag and the only things you really see are sand, camels, dilapidated cities, camels, camouflage and...oh yeah, did i mention camels?
Although sustaining injuries are part of the job. Liz has, by far literally received the most flack from wayward shrapnel from anti-vehicle mines and stray bullets. Though none of her injuries have been very serious her higher officers have been pressing her to take some time off to rest and recuperate.
Why did she get on the island? Its still up for debate but so far it can happen two ways.
A) She hasn't been the most popular squad member in her platoon as of late due to various reasons. The last one that she was finally starting to gain respect from was wiped out. Despite the fact that she barely got out with her life somehow in the process she got slapped with a warrant for desertion. Maybe she annoyed more people than she thought.
B) For three years since Liz enlisted, she has turned down every offer of military leave that's been given to her. It didn't take long for the higher ups to worry about how the amount of time spent in action would affect her psychologically and therefore forced her to take at least a month and a half long vacation. The same amount of military leave time she's saved up. I'm sure Dr. Moreau wouldn't mind a little help with the Jamal infestation on the island.
Wouldn't she be missed? Like i said, she isn't the most loved soldier in the military. They wouldn't think a second thought if they said she died from a tropical disease. Poor Liz.
What animal? I was thinking jerboa/sugar glider hybrid, but if that doesn't cut the mustard then I'll just stick with a sugar glider. It depends on the final poll results.
