Woods of Ypres is a Canadian melodic black metal band. They play a style that has somewhat Doom Metal influences and a darker atmosphere. They are signed to Krankenhaus Records, which is David Gold's record company.
Woods of Ypres is planning to release a new, full-length album in April 2007. The recording is finished and two songs are available online for download: "The Northern Cold" and "Your Ontario Town is a Burial Ground". The new album will be named Woods 3: The Deepest Roots and the Darkest Blues.
I think this band's lyrics are beautiful and deep. Really, these guys have talent and im not much for black metal like i have said before but from what i have heard they are really, really good.

I bought Their album winter somgs from the dead summer heat (or something to that effect), and although i enjoy it greatly, i feel a little dissapointed, though i am not sure why. I supoose the songs i heard before gave me a different feel than these did. Whatever the case they are still a stellar band with a stellar sound.

Here's a listen folks: www.myspace.com/woodsofypres
I figured out why i liked my myspace songs better - they added another guitarist and a keyboardist. Made their sound better, in my opinon anyway.

I bought Allure of the Sun and Pursuite of the Earth a while back and I must say great stuff. This band does not dissapoint, every time you listen to one of their cd's it just keeps getting better and better.
I have even been listening toAgainst the Season and I have come to a conclusion: it has that winter cold feel. It's really a remarkable EP.

I highly reccomend them, For you I would say the Against The Seasons EP. But Pursuit of the Sun & Allure of the Earth is a great release as well, it just tend to have a more doom/folk influence and I'm not sure if you dig that or not.

I dig anything atmospheric and emotional. The only genres of metal you're not going to see me hop all over is thrash and power metal.

I want to get Cold Winter Songs from the Dead Summer Heat. I actually liked the tracks from that album more so than Pursuit of the Sun.

While I like these guys, I have to disagree with the lyrics. I don't know, they kind of kill it for me. Though I absolutely adore Pursuit of the Sun. Woods III is definitely more black metal, but I was kind of disappointed after listening to Pursuit of the Sun.
