In the second movie, Davy Jones says that Jack was captain of it for 13 years, but Jack said he was captain for only 2, before he was mutineed upon. So that must mean that Barbossa was captain for the 11 years afterward. Jack regains the Pearl after he kills Barbossa in the first movie, but then the Kraken gets him in the second, and Barbossa returns. Now, in the one clip of the third movie I saw, they both were arguing over who should give the orders, I don't know if they were on the Black Pearl or not... So who really owns the Black Pearl? Is it Davy Jones'? (I know that in the second movie, he said he gave it to Jack, or something like that...) Anyone know?

Its definitly Jack Sparrow. That's why he keeps going through all the trouble to get it.
And originally, the Black Pearl belong to Davy Jones. Then Jack Sparrow made a bargain with Davy Jones to be captain of the ship for 13 years. But Barbosa led a mutiny after Jack's first 2 years, and made himself captain for the remaining 11. So finally, Jack makes his move to get the boat back (as seen in POTC 1). Jack gets it back and then gets eaten by the Kraken, so Barbosa is asked to captain the Pearl again so everyone can find Jack (as seen in POTC 2). Lastly, Jack will be captain again because the pearl is rightfully his (as I'm hoping is the case in POTC 3).
Did that help at all?

Well, to answer that question, I'm going to ask you one of my own:
Does it matter? xd The Pearl was destroyed... Who cares whose ship it was?

the ocean is the rightful owner of the black pearl because davy jones himself had to bring it up from the depths of the ocean and that is also were it will probably end up in the end.

Okay. Calm down guys. No need to fight over it, sheesh. I think it's Captain Sparrow's ship. Davy Jones brought it up from the ocean depths so that it could be Jack's ship. Barbossa calls it his own ship due to the mutiny that occurred, but in my opinion the Pearl orignally is Captain Sparrow's ship.

Jack Sparrow, I'm sorry, Captain Jack Sparrow owns The Pearl, but I own him!

He rose The Pearlfrom the depths for Jack, but he didn't like lend it to him or anything. xD I'm pretty sure The Pearl was Jack's under a different name, wasn't it? I thought it had two previous names, and then when Davy brougth it back from the depths (presuming it sunk), Jack got it back, and thus rechristened it The Black Pearl. :'D
Ta-dah!

Justin aka J the ocean is the rightful owner of the black pearl because davy jones himself had to bring it up from the depths of the ocean and that is also were it will probably end up in the end. I think the Pearl is a symbol OF the sea. Y'know? Maybe Jack is a conqueror of the sea. Wow. That's kinda weird but... whatever. blaugh ~Tr!nity~

I don't think anybody knows. Have you guys seen the 'Quarreling Captains' clip from AWE? Here's the link if you haven't: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFHDaVymfh0
If Jack & Hector can't figure it out, how can we?
