New SEGA Trademark hints at potential sequel By: Svend Joscelyne @ TSS
A member of the Sonic Stadium Message Board has dug up a new trademark filed by SEGA on April 2nd 2007, for a product titled "Sonic Rush Adventure". SEGA neither confirmed or denied such a project when we contacted them this morning.
Sonic Rush was revered as the best Sonic game of recent years when it was released on Nintendo DS in 2005, but it was largely ignored for its home console flop Shadow the Hedgehog instead. This trademark, using a similar name, suggests that a sequel is perhaps in the works. Considering the insane popularity of the DS handheld worldwide, that's probably not a bad idea.
It is worth pointing out that many trademarks taken out by companies with the best intentions of releasing it as a product end up cancelled or the result of stillborn ideas. Judging by the nature of the title itself, SEGA could even be taking out a trademark to protect the 'Sonic Rush'/'Sonic Adventure' name from potential unauthorised games from other companies. So there is a chance that this could turn out to be nothing.
But hey, if it does... more wonderful 2.5D platforming may await us. Many thanks to super sleuth Keiji Dragon from SSMB for the tip. You can view the trademark for yourself here.
-------------------------------------
It may not be confirmed, but I am now /very/ excited. If it's true, then I have a new game to look forwards to. heart

Well, I'd say this is interesting....but other than a name, we got nothin' to picture. oo;
Though, the name does bring about mental images of a Sonic/Blaze Adventure-style game, which would be pretty cool. It wouldn't hurt to play Blaze at her full capacity (did they REALLY have to weaken any character who wasn't a hedgie in the 360/PS3 game?).
I'd also guess a sequel to Rush, on the DS, but I would expect the game to just be called "Sonic Rush 2". "Adventure" seems to imply an aspiring-ly more epic scale of things.
...Though if it IS the case...I pray the difficulty isn't so harsh. That friggin casino level is pure hell with Blaze...

Blaze does suck in Rush next to Sonic. I hope they make a sequel, because it's one of the best games from the series. I think it's as good as any of the now-classic Sonic games. I dunno how it'd work, but I'm sure it's be pretty cool. I fail miserably at the games, so I need it to be really easy... I'm currently frustrated with level six I think it is.

Who's gonna rock the place... I think it'd be awesome if they had the game in Blaze's world - We could find out more stuff, and then we could see her at her full potential perhaps. surprised
Squeal, SEGA must release this! ...No one can touch this.

It's OFFICIAL!Quote: Sequel to Critically-Acclaimed Sonic Rush is now in Development LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (April 16, 2007) - SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America Inc. today announced the development of Sonic Rush Adventure™ for the Nintendo DS™ system. Sonic Rush Adventure will seamlessly utilise both screens of the Nintendo DS to navigate the high seas in search of pirate treasure, delivering Sonic’s classic high-speed 2D gameplay in the ultimate Sonic handheld experience. Developed by SEGA Studios, Sonic Rush Adventure for the Nintendo DS will be available in Autumn 2007. Sonic returns to the Nintendo DS in an all-new frantic adventure complete with dizzying dives, near vertical curves and brain twisting loops. Sonic Rush Adventure will retain the DS action that fans loved so much from Sonic Rush™, as well as providing a new high seas adventure where Sonic clashes with ruthless pirates. Players will set off from Windmill Village as Sonic and blast their way through seven action-packed and widely diverse levels. Sonic Rush Adventure will make full use of the DS Download Play feature and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which enables gamers to compete with friends in wireless racing and mission-based battles. Guide Sonic through numerous action stages in the fast and furious single player mode, whilst collecting valuable items and materials that enable Sonic and Tails to track down the villainous pirates. With a fleet of up to five ships, including a submarine, water bike and hovercraft, Sonic Rush Adventure uses the Touch Screen technology in exciting new ways. Use the Nintendo DS Stylus to help control vessels as they race across the ocean gathering rings, performing tricks, and torching pirate boats, whilst engaging in fierce ship-to-ship battles. At the end of each level, epic 3D boss battles spanning both screens will test gamers skills to result in an ultimate showdown with the evil boss character, Captain Whisker. Sonic Rush Adventure allows players to bounce, fly, swing, ride and run through grand environments of lush forests, an ominous ghost ship, snow covered mountains, pirate villages and a vast underwater sea cave. Along the way there will be a variety of enemy characters to battle against including robots, skeleton warriors, pterodactyls, and a robotic triceratops. One might note that the worlds Sonic is running in appear a bit more cartoony, and quite different from the style exhibited in the first Sonic Rush. What might this mean for where Sonic is? Also, I spy a combo system!

Guessing Sega is following a common rule......when it doubt, introduce pirates. razz
And yes, nothing strikes fear in the heart of ocean dwellers than the dreaded name of...Captain WHISKER!! XD
Joking aside, it does look like a pretty sweet game. Just hope that it isn't some pitfall-heavy title (probably will be, though x_X).
I do have to wonder one thing...Is Sonic really going solo, or will we see a new character emerge as well? On one hand...a pirate furry WOULD be cool to see....

One might also ask, does Captain Whiskers have any relationship with our old favorite bearded villain?

I'm thinking that Whisker is most likely a creation of Eggman's...Unless there's some other guy makin' robots in Sonic's world. Besides looking similar, notice the little symbol on Whisker's hat.
And...how many bets that if he hasn't already, he's gonna turn on the good doctor? : P

It'd be interesting to see how Sonic and Blaze would take to being against a pirate. 3nodding
Not to meant, they were saying this would be a multi-player. They have to have other characters you can play as instead of Sonic.

I do recall Tails being mentioned (I think it was the article I read on Gamespot about this; I'll link in a sec), but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a playable character.
Would be cool, though...I mean sheesh, with all the new gadgets that's being made for Sonic, it'd be unfair to leave out the little guy on all the fun.

Tails apparently makes the ships for Sonic, so he might be taking yet another, although better, Omochao type role....
