Hey hey, readers. (If there are any...)
2.0 is back for another edition of the PPV Column and here we are at the biggest night of the year. The biggest event, arguably, in professional wrestling, and it is Wrestlemania 23!
Well, before i get to my thought by match analysis, my opening comments. The card this year is littered with superstars, and most of them deserving to be in a higher place on the card, but right now, as it seems, the match of the night (performancewise, not crowd reaction wise) will definately be the 8 Man Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
As usual, Prediction means who I think will win. 2.0's pick is who I WANT to win. But lets get straight to the card, okay?
US Title Match Chris Benoit vs MVP This match shows promise. In my opinion, with Chris Benoit as in active as he was, for US Champion, the logical course of action will be MVP winning the title at WM. MVP has shown a lot of promise, whether or not the finisher he uses is gay. MVP also has had a great gimmick, going into Wrestlemania, about wanting the represent the US in his Heel ways. Both men have used the Crippler Crossface as a finisher (MVP in OVW) and it would be nice to see that work out in the match. Prediction: MVP, New US Champion 2.0's Pick: MVP
Lumber Jill Match Women's Title Ashley vs Melina Well, Melina is an impressive women's wrestler, and Ashley was VERY impressive on RAW. She's still realyl new, and this is still the "make a sandwich match", but it wont be bad. Expect the lumberjills to get involved in a big way at the end of the match, and expect a new champion in Ashley, for Smackdown!. Prediction: Ashley, new Women's Champion [-i]2.0's Pick: Ashley
Kane vs The Great Khali Oddly enough, these two have extremely powerful presence with each other. Kane and Khali compliment each other in their segments, and while Khali is no wrestler, really, I'm sure he will rise to the occasion for his first Wrestlemania. Kane always rises to the occasion for Wrestlemania as it is. Prediction: The Great Khali 2.0's Pick: Kane
ECW Originals vs ECW New Breed Funny thing. I was running through the card with an OLD wrestling fan, and when i read the new Breed team to him, he didnt know ANY of them, which is what Vince seems to want. Thats okay though. All 4 on the new breed are excellent performers, and all 4 on the Original team are no slouches. I expect that Sandman will be the first eliminated from the match in some way or form, injury or something. Prediction: New Breed 2.0's Pick: Matt Striker
Now, onto the higher match card.
Hair vs Hair Representative vs Representative Trump vs McMahon Umaga vs Bobby Lashley Battle of the Billionaires Spec Ref: Stone Cold Steve Austin See how many times i did that? You know why? Because we only hear it like 30 times per show, and now we see how annoying it can be. Its not secret that backstage Vince McMahon loves bobby lashley, so hes going to push him in the end. I for one hate him because he was created by putting Goldberg and Lesnar in a car and crashing them into a hersheys truck. Out from the wreck came Bobby Lashley and his insane premature push from hell. McMahon is getting his head shaved. Prediction: Bobby Lashley 2.0's Pick: Umaga
Money in the Bank Ladder Match Edge vs Orton vs Kennedy vs Finlay vs CM Punk vs Hardy vs Jeff vs King Blookah! Match of the night, if it gets enough time to be as such. Expect spots and lots of spots, with both Hardy's in the ring and CM Punk looking to get himself over with the crowd. I will do the predictions in this one a little different, because realistically the only person not going to win at all ever is Finlay. Prediction Order: Kennedy Orton CM Punk Matt Edge Jeff Booker Finlay 2.0's Picks: Edge Orton CM Punk Kennedy Matt Jeff Finlay King Booker
WWE Championship John Cena vs Shawn Michaels Here it is. The Champ vs the Challenger. The Doctor vs The Showstopper. F-U vs Sweet Chin Music. 5 Moves of Doom vs 5 Moves of Doom.
Yeah, I went there.
Listen, the bottom line here tonight is if Cena loses or wins, he will be the champion again in 2007. But any kind of break is good, right? There are plenty of people who deserve the title this year, for sure, and Shawn is one of them. Any of the Money in the Bank winners, except Blookah and Finlay, deserve realistic title shots and runs, and they all can run with Cena and HBK. They can all make Cena look good and have beautiful matches with HBK. Bottom line: Prediction: Cena 2.0's Pick: HBK
World Heavyweight Title Batista vs The Undertaker I STILL dont like that Taker won the royal rumble. He never needed that kidn of push, but it was better than Shawn i guess. Batista contstently improves his moveset in the ring, so i bet there will be a new move or two out of him this night, but his reputation as the Ultimate Warrior backstage has yet to improve apartently. But it doesnt matter. On this night, anything can happen. Still, dont be suprised if the match isnt the main event, and be less suprised if its a dissapointment. Winner: Taker 2.0s Pick: Taker.
I'm willing to discuss things, and love feedback.

Money in the bank..
I know I'm jumpin' the gun here, but from what I've seen, Edge has the most built Hype going into this thing, He'll probably win it, but stealing the show will be CM punk and Jeff Hardy. Matt will be too strung up with Edge, while finlay and booker will be laying low in the match, not doing much but being a good test dummie and getting a good crack in here and there. Orton wont be doing much, while Kennedy will be all over the place.
