The idea behind communism is that everyone gets treated equal, so the whole concept is good (in my opinion). People say "communism is bad!" no, its not. the whole point is that things are better. The only thing is, power corrupts. If we had good leaders, the United States would be a successful communism, instead of a capitalist country.

Karl Marx had a very good idea behind it.But It hasnt been reached all countries that are "communist" are Socialist. Marx didnt give a way to reach it, just his thoughts and theroies.

Well, if I'm not mistaken... Socialism is the economic system of equality and Communism is the political system. Actual Communism (Scientific Socialism.) has little to do with Karl Marx, believe it or not. SOURCE Communism, or "scientific socialism", has very little to do with Marx. Communism was originally envisioned by Marx and Engels as the last stages of their socialist revolution. "The meaning of the word communism shifted after 1917, when Vladimir Lenin and his Bolshevik Party seized power in Russia. The Bolsheviks changed their name to the Communist Party and installed a repressive, single-party regime devoted to the implementation of socialist policies." (quote from Encarta.). Those socialist policies were never implemented.

so...i still dont think that i really understand communism confused
cuz i do hear a lot of people say its bad, but i never hear of the good really...Pros and Cons?
maybe that would help me understand more... sweatdrop

It would be great at first, like Democracy in Greece, but the US'll screw it up sooner or later.
Seriously. The US had a great idea on paper on civil rights and such, but the definitions have changed so much since the 1700's. All men created equal literally meant back then, "All white males are created equally. Blacks are all equal, and so are women, but they are not equal with each other and are not worth as much as white men."
So, Communism changed too. It sounded great on paper, but man screws everything up because we are illogical beings who punish those without emotions, yet having cold logic, and label them as illogical in comparison to the rest, who base their beliefs and facts around how we feel.
And Communism sounds logical, believe me, but having illogical humans being the leaders, and people feeling oppressed by it and running away from the secret police scaring the living crap outta them.
but now I feel like I'm blabbering.

If it were to be execute properly, it could possibly work. not neccessarily was communism executed poorly, but the people that we know well and are widely known executed it poorly. i wouldnt doubt that there are successful communist leaders that we just dont know about. considering the united states though, our problem would be picking a leader that knows what they are doing, or someone that isnt insane and the power wont corrupt. thinking of our society, it probably wouldnt work here.

With as much as I hang out with you, emo tazer, I still don't get a SOLID meaning of what communism, besides when people say that "everyone gets the same wages, whether they be McDonalds casheers or brain surgens, and no one would be a brain surgen." Tomorrow at lunch you'll need to clear that up for me. yes, that is something that i dont understand either... ok, its not that hard. ok. you are interpreting this wrong. people do the hard jobs for the good of the whole. the brain surgeons do it because it is either what they love, or they want to help people. the whole idea of communism is for the good of the whole. no fighting for equal rights, no complaining that someone is better than you, everyone is just as good as their neighbor now. we are treated equal for the good of the whole, and that is why the brain surgeons are brain surgeons. to help the people. the whole idea is for the people. everyone shares, everyone is nice, everyone considers the whole rather than themself. communism is wholesome if it is executed properly. (dont even say hitler did it wrong because he is anti communist)

I think, though, shown by the riots in France a few years back, (last year?) people will get spoiled by the whole equal pay thing, and they wouldn't have to do s**t to get the same pay as someone who went to college and got the education to do video games. The riots in France had to do with the kids who didn't want to be fired for not doing their jobs before 30. OH NO THEY'RE BECOMING AMERICAN AND CAPITALIST!! gonk gonk gonk No, older people want jobs, and they don't want to have to compete with a youth that does nothing.

Communism only works if EVERYONE has the same goals and the same ambitions and isn't generally willing to screw over everyone else for their own gain.
It would only take a handful of people to overthrow the whole system, and if there's one thing we all know about human beings it's that nomatter where you go there's always one smug little b*****d who's more than ready to spoil it for everyone else.

true, but usually those in a communism are either a.) forced to be and behave, or b.) want to be and want it to work.
