This is a thread where people can recommend other manga/anime for Death Note fans. I myself am looking for other manga/anime to read/watch so I made this thread hehehe. But it doesnt have to be manga/anime exactly like Death Note (if that's possible lol), it could be any other ones that's worth reading/watching. wink (Btw I like stuff like Ouran too) xD

I need recommendations too, but as a recommendation, I'd say that you should try D. Gray-Man. I love it, even though it's not THAT much like Death Note, but it's not really shojo either.

AtreeX I need recommendations too, but as a recommendation, I'd say that you should try D. Gray-Man. I love it, even though it's not THAT much like Death Note, but it's not really shojo either. I agree with you on D. Gray-Man. The characters are all really neat, and it's hard to not like a lot of them. As far as recommendations go, there's a few I could give: Code Geass - Lelouch reminds me of Light. Other than the whole high-school-student-sudenly-getting-an-incredible-ability-and-deciding-to-use-it-to-change-the-world thing, though, the series is a mecha that focuses more on the characters. With Pizza Hut logos everywhere. biggrin Fullmetal Alchemist - Why am I recommending this? The best connection is has to Death Note is Scar's arm compared to Light's notebook. It's a very good series, albeit depressing at times. Basara - It's a shojo, and the main character is a girl. That's it for connections with Ouran. Sarasa's and Light's goals are similiar (their methods are different, though), and that's it for similarities with Death Note. However, it's a really good shojo series; from what I've read so far it's doing a splendid job of balancing several plot points, each of which could be the basis of an entire series. Fruits Basket - If I had to choose one shojo series to recommend to a fan of Ouran, I'd pick this one. They have a similiar feel, but I'm not entirely sure why. I could probably think of more, but not right now. EDIT: What do you know? I thought of one more. xd Bokurano - I only recently discovered this series. The first episode/few chapters make the series seem like it might be a generic mecha monster-of-the-week story, but I've read up to the most recent chapter, and it's not, so don't worry. It's got a pretty dark story, but Death Note was dark as well. You should also watch it because one of the kids looks like a younger version of Kyoya.

Nana -- One of my favorite manga series. It's sort of a shoujo, sort of a drama... But it's generally just really good. Lovable characters and all that jazz.
Hikaru no Go -- Like it says in the thread for it, it has the same artist as Death Note, though the story is COMPLETELY different. I'd recomend the manga before the anime, though... I only saw the first episode of the anime, and was bored silly. (But that may just be the first episode. I never got around to watching the rest)
Hana Kimi -- A cute shoujo manga you may like if you like Ouran. It's about a girl who disguises herself as a boy to get into an all-boy's school so she can meet her idol.
The Cain Saga/God Child An absolutely amazing dark gothic series set in old England. It's by Kaori Yuki, which guaranties that it's going to be pretty. Also f-ed up.... But really really good. It's about Cain, the young, eccentric Earl of the Hargraves family.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll add more if I can think of some.

Well it isn't an anime or a manga but the theme is similar.
Boondock Saints..
the basic theme of punishing criminals is the same. It's just interesting to draw the parallels between the two.

Sure things tend to be pretty f-ed up in her manga, but things are a bit that way in Death Note (although not to the extent that Karoi Yuki can get.) Of her stuff, I have only read Angel Sanctuary, which is my favorite overall.

Petshop of Horrors: A manga/short OVA centering around the eccentric Count D and his petshop which sells 'Love and Dreams'. However, each pet comes with a contract which cannot be broken or else the results may be deadly. REALLY INTERSTING! The OVA is only 4 episodes and very good. I've only bought the first volume and I must say that it's a very intersting read.
God Child: Already recommend...I got four volumes and am totally hooked!
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni: A murder/mystery story which centers in the small town of Hinamizawa. A plot filled with tradgey, horror, and tons of twists and turns. I would only recommened this if you can stomach some pretty gorey scenes...also some really odd happy parts. XD

Zenanien Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni: A murder/mystery story which centers in the small town of Hinamizawa. A plot filled with tradgey, horror, and tons of twists and turns. I would only recommened this if you can stomach some pretty gorey scenes...also some really odd happy parts. XD To add onto that, no, it does not end at episode 4 xd It's a really awesome series. Also, second season is out, and I'm loving it so far. Darker than Black:[summary off ANN] In Tokyo, an impenetrable field known as "Hell's Gate" appeared ten years ago. At the same time, psychics who wield paranormal powers at the cost of their conscience also emerged. Hei is one of the most powerful of these psychic agents, and along with his blind associate, Yin, works for one of the many rival agencies vying to unlock the mysteries of Hell's Gate. It's not really like Death Note, but it's dark in it's own way. Each arc is 2 episodes long. I don't really know how to explain it though >.> Well....it's been licensed though, so good luck finding torrents xd

Monster - "Dusseldorf, West Germany in 1986. One day, Dr. Kenzo Tenma ignored his boss's order and executed humanitarian rescue of a man's child." This anime isn't much to look at in the way of bishonen, but it will have you scratching your head and mumbling conspiracy theories the entire 74 episodes. The anime is an almost word-for-word adaptation of the manga, so it doesn't matter which you get.
Blood Plus/Blood the Last Vampire - Currently running on Cartoon Network. The story of a vampire, Saya, as she travels to find and destroy her sister, Diva.
Karas - the Prophecy - The first time I saw this I was thoroughly confused. The fifth time I watched it I finally understood WTF was going on. >_O Karas involves demons, very nice graphics/art, and a good plot. It's still in producting, with the last half of the 6 part OVA to be released October 2007.
Tokyo Babylon - Any self-respecting yaoi fangirl has heard of CLAMP, right? Well, this is one of their series. The plot involves twins Subaru(the main protagonist) and Hokuto protecting Tokyo from spirits by exorcising them. TB is often regarded as a prequel to another famed CLAMP series, X/1999.
I also reccomend Higurashi's sequel, Higurashi no naku koro ni kai. >_>; It's the answer arcs of the game the anime is based on.

Personally
I'd have to say
Trigun- It doesn't really have to do with death note, but it's a great story nontheless
Trinity Blood Again, nothing to do with killing criminals, but it is a really awesome show. It's kinda like politics, but now they're vampire cool things.
So go look em up.!
