Other Stuff

Name - Thard Verad (Not really, but that's as close as you'll get)
Race/Species - Human, but with some Clavatian and Selkic ancestry
Height - Roughly six feet
Build - Medium
Hair - Short, brown, no defined style
Eyes - Green
Travels wearing a dark cloak. On first sight, it usually looks black, but it's really a very deep green. The material includes some skin shed by a Kecleon, so there is a partial camouflage effect when needed. I prefer casual clothing, such as a Polo shirt and a pair of jeans, but in combat, I don some Dragonair-scale armor. Last but not least, a pair of old Tauros-hide leather boots. They may be well-travelled, but they're still in good shape. I don't really have a sprite of myself to put here.

Weapons:
Penumbra - "This unique pair of Shortswords were designed to work perfectly in concert with one another, harnessing the powers of light and shadow. It is said that a fragment of the Blackmoon Stone was alloyed with the steel when these blades were forged."
- Techniques (With attack types when used vs. Pokemon or Hybrids)
--- Purge Wave: Both swords are swung to create a shockwave, damaging an opponent and clearing them of any positive status effects. (Ice)
--- Null Cross: A double-slash that carves an X. (Steel)
----- Null Frost: An upgraded Null Cross. The power of this slash creates an endothermic reaction, absorbing heat and leaving a burst of ice and wind. (Steel and Ice)
--- Void Cyclone: A spinning slash attack that generates a swirl of nothingness. (Slash = Steel, Swirl = Dark)
--- Dazzle Blade: An attack so fast, only the flash of metal is seen. (Steel)
----- Peregrine Blade: An upgraded Dazzle Blade. Requires a longer set-up, but is even faster in execution. Too fast to see directly, it can only be traced by the trail of fire left behind. (Steel and Fire)
--- Leonid Storm: Countless sword thrusts pierce the foe. (Steel)
----- Leonid Blitz: An upgraded Leonid Storm. The sword thrusts become so rapid that it disrupts the atmosphere's electrical balance. Powerful bolts of lightning are discharged into the target. (Steel and Electric)
--- Thirteenth Moon: An overhead swing. Not very powerful, but it causes random negative status effects. (Bug)
--- Breaking Dawn: An upward stroke that floats the enemy, followed by a powerful thrust that might destroy their armor. (Ground)
--- Nova Burst: The swords are scraped together, sparking a large explosion. (Dragon)
--- Aurora Strike: An ultimate technique. Illusory copies of the user surround the foe and immobilize them. Then a blast of energy falls from the heavens. (Shadow)
--- Pulsar Beam: An ultimate technique. A wave of energy causes massive damage and blows away foes in a wide arc. (Shadow)

Dreamcatcher - "The mightiest weapon a Selkie can wield."
- Technique
--- Meteor Strike: Sacrifice a small amount of health to call a Meteor down on foes. (Rock)
----- [Element] Strike: By absorbing elemental power (Thunder, Fire Blast, etc) the Dreamcatcher adds the elemental effect to the Meteor. Timing is critical. (Rock and element)
- Hybrid Techniques (Dreamcatcher + one sword) (All Rock)
--- Strike Wave: A blast of small meteorites pummels the foe and may cause confusion. Drains a small amount of health.
--- Astral Cross: A double slash calls down two meteors to pound the foe. Drains some health.
--- Meteor Storm: Rapid thrusts summon a hail of meteors. As powerful as the spell, but effective over a smaller area. Drains more health.

Natural Powers:
Innate swordsmanship

Supernatural Powers:
Free motion - Any other power that attempts to influence my actions or movements is automatically cancelled. (Same power, better name)

Amarube and Yura:
I've taken these names from an episode of Tenchi Universe. These two characters are now the leaders of the Legendary Brilliance Gang. Amarube is wiry but handsome just the same. His eyes burn with cunning and cruelty. He loves three things: Power, Yura, and Money, in that order. Yura is a beautiful and intelligent woman, but also ruthless, cold, and greedy. She loves fine things, and will do whatever it takes to get them.

Whenever I do a mission that calls on an unnamed band of thieves, expect to see the LB Gang. If you want to, you can use them too, but remember: Amarube and Yura always fight as a double-battle partnership, with a preference towards dark-types. Their currently known pokemon are:
    HONCHKROW (Always used)
    WEAVILE (Always used)
    Magneton
    Sableye
    Arcanine
    Gardevoir
    Muk

Special Badges:
FF:CC Expert (Awarded by Torch)
I'm creative cuz Torch said so!!1! (Awarded by Torch)
Jade Coin (Awarded after Snagem's Grass Elemental RP)
Emerald Pendant embossed with Dragonite (Awarded after the Dragon Elemental)
Water Pendant (Awarded from the Water Elem RP. One use Auto-Life)

Plooshies:
Delcatty, Swablu, Shiny Swablu, Skitty (L)

One toy car.

Selected Pokemon Bios
Vader (Crobat) - My starter on Team Aqua. I know, Zubat is an unusual choice, but Crobat's speed combined with status-altering moves were worth the trouble of evolving him. He seems to enjoy bran muffins.

Sidious (Cradily) - A good "tank" pokemon. Well experienced in combat and able to dish out plenty of hurt. Barrier and Mirror Coat is a favorite combo.

Tyrannus (Golduck) - Everyone needs a good swimmer on their team, and Golduck is among the best. When RP Tournaments were popular, Tyrannus managed to defeat Torch's Sceptile. Has an unusual penchant for S'mores.

Maul (Flareon) - A fiesty li'l lady who adopted Overheat as her signature move.

Salamence - My powerhouse dragon and primary means of aerial transport. Yes, I have a Mini Kyogre Jet and an Arwing, but flying a pokemon is better for the environment.

Shuppet - Some may call him evil, but maybe he's just misunderstood. No wait, he's just a prankster. He's also uncannily adept at escaping his pokéball. He's also capable of "speaking" through some kind of telepathy.

Xatu - Her Teleport is a very reliable way to get in and out of HQ. Except those few times she stops short and leaves me sprawled on the floor somewhere.

Dusclops - After Teleport, Dusclops' material phasing power is my favorite method of entering HQ. He's not much for conversation, but he has elegant handwriting. Dusclops has also taken an interest in videography. He also has a secret hobby that he doesn't want me to reveal.

Porygon2 - Since it pretty much is a computer program, Porygon2 is my go-to pokémon for all data-related tasks. Communications, analysis, encryption, hacking, you name it, Porygon2 can probably do it. In addition, it's not bad in combat. I hesitate to evolve this one... Porygon-Z have a tendency to behave... oddly.

Phione - My newest addition. Still young and inexperienced, but intensely curious and playful.

Skitty - As adept at getting out of his pokeball as Shuppet, but instead just patrols for people who forget to RP their posts. Remember: Failure to RP will make Normal-type Pokémon hit you with Double-Edge!

Please visit this thread if you want my advice on doing missions.

Thard's Backstory

I was born in a small Johto village near Mt. Mortar. An only child, I grew up happily with my parents. My father was a native Johtoan, but my mother’s lineage is a bit more interesting. She was descended from an ancient people in a far off land. The legends of her – and my – ancestors were passed to me as bedtime stories. Those ancients were divided into four tribes: Clavats, Yukes, Lilties, and Selkies. At times the tribes coexisted peacefully, other times they fought among one another. My earliest known ancestors are a Clavat and a Selkie who defied tribal customs and were married.

By the time I was eight, I was already starting to learn the basics of swordplay from my mother. My father was teaching me about Pokémon training. At ten years old, the allure of Pokémon won out over swordsmanship. I left home with to get my first Pokémon and begin my journey.

For a few months I wandered around with my Pokémon, meeting people and training my team. Eventually I found myself outside Pallet Town. It was there that I first saw Auri. Her bright pink hair stood out in sharp contrast to the greenery around her, and I decided to make my acquaintance. I fell in love as soon as I looked into her sparkling azure eyes. She had also recently begun her Pokémon journey, and we decided to travel together. Years passed and we became inseparable friends.

We were in the Kanto region when news arrived of a fierce storm in Johto. The storm had struck suddenly during the night. My parents died in that storm. I returned home as fast as I could, but the only thing I could do was grieve. In coming to terms with the grief, I learned more about the night they died. When the storm hit, my parents helped evacuate the town. Most of the people made it to safety before the rain-soaked hillside collapsed. The mudslide killed my parents and several others and heavily damaged part of the town. But it could have been far worse if not for my parents and others like them. They died as heroes.

After that, I inherited my family’s Dreamcatcher and traveled with Auri for a while longer. I could tell she was getting tired of traveling, that she wanted to put down roots and build a stable life. Another me might have built that life at her side, but the call of my ancestors was growing stronger. I left Auri and released my pokémon to follow my own path: the path of the sword. The memento of our time together is her photograph, which I’ve kept safe since our parting.

I cannot divulge the secrets of my training, nor of my Penumbrae. It is enough to know that I gained skill and power in use of my weapons. And I eventually returned to life as a Pokémon Trainer when I joined Team Aqua.

Life on the Team

Once I arrived at Aqua, I started from the bottom and worked my way up. I was soon recognized for both my cool head and superb battle skills and promoted to Admin. Eventually, other demands forced me to leave the team for a couple years. I've since been drawn back to Aqua, even though I didn't intend on being anything more than an honorary member. But Brian inducted me as an Aqua Chief again, so here I am.

As for my history regarding the Legendary Brilliance Gang, I was the first Aquan to encounter them. In our first encounter, they took a group of scientists hostage, hoping to restore pokemon fossils for profit. I staged an intervention, saved the scientists, and got a Root Fossil restored. Later on, they stole a certain Pokeball and retreated to a hideout in Route 111's desert. I busted in, defeated Amarube and Yura, and reclaimed the ball. After that, I started keeping tabs on their operations. In April '07, they must have gotten fed up with my interference, because Amarube and Yura managed to capture me! I escaped their clutches and defeated them again, but they ran off, claiming that their gang would never die. The LBG remains active, and though I harass their operations, Amarube and Yura still haven't been brought to justice.

Fast forward a bit. I finally had the chance to reconnect with Auri. In a way, I owe that chance to Archie, since if he hadn't decided to try and kill her, I woudn't have had a reason to look her up!
