Hi out there, one and all! I started Gaiaonline a while ago, and i had a hard time making gold... and it wasn't just me, but a ton of others as well! Even though they make it easy, it's hard to get into the flow of things! So here you are, my guide to easy gold!

arrow Wander around when you aren't doing anything. It gets you a small amount of gold, but it adds up.
arrow Post! Anywhere and everywhere! Join a few rps and chatterbox forums. The gold adds up!
arrow Vote in every topic you go to until it stops giving you gold. Once again, a little bit that adds up in the end.
arrow If you can draw, JOIN AN ART CONTEST. I just recently entered one, and runner-up for one of the lesser categories earned me 7.5K. CONTESTS ARE YOUR FRIEND.
arrow Don't be afraid to start up a donation thread in the chatterbox or in specified guild forums asking for help making that dream avi. It may or may not work, but at least that base is covered.
arrow Find a reliable gaiaonline bank. The one I use is The Reserve Bank of Gaia. I used to be horrible at saving gold, but not even counting the interest they will give you, I've seen it pile up because it's not easily acessable. This keeps those random on-the-spot urges at bay.-Banks are no longer an option- thank noob hackers causing a new rule to be made.
arrow Try not to buy store items as soon as they come out, because they will eventually drop in price. The gunner coat used to cost 5K, and now it's dropped to 3K. See? Patience is a virtue.
arrow Sell anything and everything you don't want in the marketplace, and then buy things if they are cheaper than TekTek prices. Then sell them for a bit more than you really expect out of them and put them on bid. Someone desperate may buy your item. For example, once I bought a spirit falcon for 9k, set up a buy now price of 11k when it was still worth 9.5. Someone wanted the falcon then and there and bought it for the 11K.
arrow When on the market, use TekTek to look up the price for an item. If it is higher than tektek prices and you simply MUST have it, do a search for the lowest buy price in the mp, and if it's still over tektek pricing, give it a little. Eventually, someone unaware of the recent inflation will be selling the item underpriced, and you can buy it cheap and later on sell it for expensive.
arrow Don't PM random people or post on threads begging for gold. People will
one: call you a begger
two: call you a noob
three: report you for spamming
We don't want that- so don't beg... it very rarely works
arrow Don't add people to your friends list and then ask for gold the minute they accept. They are just going to put you on their ignore list and hate you. Don't do it.
arrow If you MUST mention your quest, mention it in passing, or go 'check out my dream avi'... don't do anything that can be construed as begging unless it's a charity forum and the person tells you it's okay.
arrow For charity/prize/contest forums:
1) Always read the rules. There might be a fee for the services, a rule against begging outright, there might even be a form that you have to fill out and in that form is an answer that is told has to be something from a rule. I'm in such a charity thread, ((though not really much of one considering the thread-master has stopped giving out what she promised)), and it drives the thread-master insane when people come in demanding an item, do not fill out the form, or answer a question with the specific answer wanted.
2) If someone has been on that thread longer than you, or shorter than you even, do not complain you were not given anything. All that will do is make the thread-master decide to not give you anything- EVER.
3) Don't beg on that forum unless you are told it's okay, as earlier mentioned. Chances are the rules will tell you, and if you don't read the rules, you won't know.
arrow Don't ever give your password to ANYONE. The mods will NEVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD, if someone does, it's a scam! Don't do it!
arrow If you give a password to a friend, (which you really shouldn't do unless you know them in real life and as such can beat the crap out of them for it later), you had better let them know not to give out said password!
arrow Don't flame other people, the word may spread and noone will be inclined to help you out.
arrow Play the jigsaw game until it doesn't give you gold anymore. Then play the casino games- my suggestion is to play blackjack. You have a better winning chance there. Sell your tickets at 2g per ticket. You'll always profit- trust me.
arrow Comment in the avi + home arenas, and vote in them. It'll bring you quite a bit of gold.
arrow Play those lotto games in the chatterbox- but only if they are free. There are so many free ones that it would be sheer idiocy to go and pay for one when you have so many free ones there in front of you.
arrow Never-ever-ever-ever-ever try to hack or scam or get someone's password. It's a one-way ticket to being banned. Don't do it!
arrow Manipulate the market! It works! Be sure to keep a record of every item you buy, then sell it for higher. I usually look for a 150 profit or higher. For a more extensive guide, refer to here: How to Make You First 100K Without Begging or Bumping

If there are any other rules you think I might have missed, please add them on this forum ^.^

A wonderful and comprehensive list. One of my favorite ways to play the MP is to look at the things that are priced under 4 gold, using the "ending soonest" filter. EvEn if you buy things that way, (I usually get some ink or some cheepo store items that are usually like 300g) you are likly to make more from the surfing bonus then you spend. And bid 4 gold on something you know will never stay that low. If you some how DO get it, super! If you don't, you get your gold back AND you've helped out some one by putting their item which is ending soon to the front of the MP list!

Another good tip is to be helpful and kind. If you're kind to others, they're likly to remember it.

I also get a little too into recruitng. I bribe a friend with some starter stuff to join gaia. Either they join, stay a while then leave (giving me their account which includes, usually, everything I gave them and then some) or they stat and are good resorces to help on quests once they really get into it. Of corse then ypu help them too, but friends are worth it.

Trading favors is also a good way. If some one is desperate for a specific peice of art that you can create and you know they tend to have a lot of sealeds, offer a trade. Or if you know they need one item for a quest, and you have 3 to spare, offer a trade. Oft times if its the last thing they need for a dream avi or something thye've been hunting a long time, they might be willing to give you more then the item is worth by tektek. I got my Zony and my Gaia aniversery shirt because some one REALLY wanted something I had.

Hope this helps.

I totally suck at saving my gold. I think that is why I never have any. I get up to 2000 and then buy some stupid thing that i end up putting in the market a week later. My wish like has like 20 items. I think I am going to put some gold in the bank. I didn't realize that you could do that. Thanks for the information. I have been playing Gaia for a week or so now. I was going to do the quest stuff, but I don't want people to think I am a "noob" even though I am. Cause I am new to Gaia. rofl. Noob is so harsh!! xp

I'm glad it helped. And thanks for your input, Sakura-chan ^.^
Oooh! Another thing!

arrow When selling something on the market and bidding, be sure to CONSTANTLY CHECK UP ON IT! Would you rather find out your item is underpriced in the bidding before or after you are able to cancel it? Don't be afraid to cancel items... if nothing else, it makes people more anxious about it and they go nuts and put a TON of gold into the bid the next time around. On the other hand, don't go crazy with cancelling anyway... if you cancel so much that people remember who you are, they're gonna look elsewhere before putting their gold toward your item.

What I found helps for big quests is putting a goal on it and posting that in your sig. My friend gave herself about 2 months before one of her gaiaversaries to get the Golden Laurels and some other big item.... can't remember what right now. In thoes 2 months, she managed to get both itmes and have gold left over because of people donating to her. On my current quest for the Kiki, it's really helped me. Most people haven't given gold, but give other recent MC's so that once I get the Kiki, I won't have to go through the same thing to get the other itmes.

I also found that the Royal Crown Bank is a good place (no link right now, sorry), but right now they are not accpeting new accounts but they are hiring bumpers and such.

As the person my friends call the "Gaian Godmother" for my fanatical playing, and WINNING of blackjack, I wanted to note you can get more than 2 gold each for tickets. I always sell easily at 2.5g each 3nodding

Also, when selling, use psychology in your favor! If there are 10 items up at 15000 gold, put 14950 for yours, you lose 50 gold but you get the quick sale because people will buy it seeing only the 14 in front of it instead of the 15.

Not to put that bank down, but it's relatively new, and also, though they give you higher interest, they are going to be hard pressed to keep up with all the interest they have promised people. RBG has enough interest to gain you money, but they also support said interest through exchangers and the like, and they've been going for about 3 years now, I believe. They don't change their interest rates like the other bank has theirs set at because the other bank will not to be able to put out 8% interest if people with, say, MILLIONS of gold activate an account. So although it may bring you more money faster in interest, it is also a very risky thing, because Royal Crown will not be able to keep up with the interest forever.
