This is the thread to look at if you are wanting to find a conversation partner. If you just want to have a Japanese chatting partner post your bulletin here. If you are really looking for a teacher go to this thread: Finding a sensei (teacher) and if you are looking for a student go here: Finding gakusei (students). I think a good start would be: 1. Your name 2. What level you feel comfortable having converstions in (beginner, intermediate, advanced) 3. Your perferred means of communication (gaia messages/email/messenger of choice) 4. Maybe even the hours you are usually online (try to adjust them to Pacific Standard Time, just to make it easier) so you can get paired up with someone who will actually be online the same time as you. Keep checking back at the announcement: The *New* Find a Sensei/Student/Conversation Partner Thread for updates on the list of potential partners.

1. Jaime, or if you want a Japanese-friendly name, ヤップニ (My Korean name.) 2. I'm sort of beginner, but so long as you aren't a long shot ahead of me, I'm quite willing to speak with those more knowledgeable than me. 3. I have MSN Messenger, AIM, am on Gaia quite frequently, and have Hotmail. Whatever works for you. 4. Nowadays, I'm mostly on at like 5-9PM PST, and I pretty much try to get on at least once a day.
I need help practicing the things I learn in my Japanese class so that they are cemented! Someone come talk with me!
Give me a PM if you wanna chat.

1) Kat 2) Intermediate, or Intermediate Advanced would be about right, I think, I'm in college 4th year Japanese 3) AIM would by *far* be the most preferrable, but I'm also on Gaia pretty regularly, or via email 4) I'm a night owl, anytime in the late evenings is great. (say.. 7-12 or 1 EST?)
For some reason my computer is being utterly retarded and won't show the language bar, no matter what I do to it, so to type Japanese text, I have to type it in a dedicated Japanese word processor and copy/paste. So.. if it seems like I'm being slow in conversation, that's why :< But anyway, other than that, PM me any time biggrin

1. Yue [not real name, but it'll work domokun ] 2. Intermediate 3. I would prefer gaia messages 4. I'm really bad at times.. I live in I think it's a +10 time zone? [Australia] But I get on at random times, so I'd prefer to receive messages or emails.
I need more chances to use my Japanese xD I'll be more than glad to chat with you about whatever, junk, anything~

1. Call me LW, Wolf, or Wuffi. If you prefer a Japanese name, call me Okami or Yamainu.
2. I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate...I've been self-studying for about 4 years now, so I'm quite knowledgable, but because I haven't taken an official Japanese class, I might not know something that even beginners know.
3. Gaia PM's or email/YIM (miko_neko_chan@yahoo.com), but I'd prefer Gaia PM
4. I log on almost every day at 11:15 PST (12:15 during daylight savings time, as it is now). Mon, Tue, and Thur I can be on for as long as until 3: 45 (4:45 PDT.) Wed and Fri only until 1:30 (2:30 PDT) and Sat I get on earlier. Sat is from 6:00 (7:00 PDT) until 11:00 (12:00 PDT). Sundays I'm RARELY on.

1. Jesper "Lysse" Lysell, Lysse would be Ryusse if I could write it in kana, which I can't with the computer I'm currently using. >_< 2. Pretty advanced I would guess, have studied for almost five years. 3. Add me on MSN or Skype if you want to talk with me, I'm rarely on Gaia, sometimes on Skype and nearly always on MSN. MSN: lysse_j@hotmail.com Skype: lysse_j 4. PST? o_o; Why don't use the standard GMT?! *counts* I'm only some hours before 3 AM PST (12:00 CET) on weekdays, and probably most of the time between 3 AM - 2 PM (12:00 - 23:00) on weekends.
Yoroshiku! :>

I would like a friend to talk Japanese with. My name is Akime and I am on Hawaii time. I am on a lot so most times are good for me. I would prefer to chat via PMs on Gaia if that is okay. ^-^

1. Call me Kaya! (or you can call me Whit or Mai) 2. I feel I'm intermediate. 3. You may contact me through PMing on Gaia, or through email or AIM. Please PM me for my email and screenname! 4. The times I'm online really vary, since I'm in university, but evenings/nights are generally the best.
EDIT: I had said I couldn't type in Japanese on this computer; I fixed it. ^^

1. Stephanie 2. I'm intermediate, I supposed, but I don't mind talking with people who are beginner/advanced 3. Whatever works for you is fine, but personally I like MSN (I don't have AIM sweatdrop ) 4. Usually online nights, but not everday. However, I do check Gaia everyday, so if you leave me a message I'll find it.
My functioning email is: stephanie_lin31@hotmail.com
My myspace and MSN email is: zinker_girl43@hotmail.com
Like everyone else here, I just wanna improve my conversational skills. Kana, roomaji, it's all the same to me.

1. Just call me kori (コーリ) like most people do. I don't like my name 2. Beginner/intermediate, I guess. This is my second year taking Japanese and I can probably hold and intermediate conversation with a little trouble so I wouldn't mind an intermediate conversation either. 3. Just pm me or aim me. 4. I don't know the time sets. I live on the East side of the U.S if it helps. I tend to login on and off after 5-6pm until later at night.

Harle:
I'm beginner to intermediate, I'm on an American time frame currently, I prefer talking on the weekends since I have more time then, and I prefer AIM but if GaiaPM works better, then do so. I'll check back every so often.

I think a good start would be: 1. Jamie Finley (you can really call me what ever you wish though.) 2. beginner-intermediate 3. gaia or aim ( orangerosewilts ) 4. Some times I'm on all day, some times I'm not around. It matters.
If you know of a way to SPEAK instead of type I would love that!
I'm decent, but I'm still lacking skill in kanji, I only know around 200-300 kanji as of now.

1. Your name iamthespoke, maybe I'll make a nickname later, but I'm not comfortable using my real name. 2. What level you feel comfortable having converstions in (beginner, intermediate, advanced) I would say intermediate - I can speak Japanese pretty well, and my vocabulary and grammer are decent, but I can't read or write kanji well (i'm learning). 3. Your perferred means of communication (gaia messages/email/messenger of choice) I would prefer gaia messages or messenger (I have MSN and AIM). My AIM is iamthespoke93 4. Maybe even the hours you are usually online (try to adjust them to Pacific Standard Time, just to make it easier) so you can get paired up with someone who will actually be online the same time as you. I'm usually on sometime between 3pm and 6pm -8GMT (which is PST, I believe). I'm on more now, because of summer vacation, but I won't have access to a computer at the end of August, before school starts.
I'm a 14 year old girl by the way, so I'd prefer someone female, and/or around my own age.
This is MUCH more organised than the old thread by the way! Thank you!

1. Kate 2. Intermediate 3. I'm willing to use Gaia or MSN. I have AIM, but as it doesn't support Japanese characters, that's no good. razz 4. Er, during the summer I'll be online off and on basically all day.
