I realize that I'm just producing a wealth of topics, but...here I go again. While I realize that this isn't exactly a 'recent' issue, I've been noticing more and more conspiracy theories flying around, ranging from 'The US planned 9/11' to 'The US is controlled by an organization of Jewish Bankers/Masons/Illuminati/secret society/group of your choice'. I'm just curious-what do you think causes the interest in them, why do so many people believe them, what do you think of people who believe them, are there any you believe, do you believe any of them are true, and what would be the effects on society if one was revealed to be true? Also, if you've heard any good conspiracy theories, I'd love to hear them. 3nodding

I dunno, they fly around once in awhile, but that's not a new trend... some of them are plausible, some are absurd, some amusing... and some are right, unfortunately.
But I do really believe that people are sometimes so enamored of grand conspiracy theories for the same reason that so many are fascinated with religion -- that surely there must be some being/agency/evil genius who knows what's going on and controls everything, because they can't imagine that everything might be mere chance. ^_~
