Behavior Rules In order to Pole Play in a safe matter a list of Role Playing rules will be listed. Please folow them correctly or you may be banned if you don't.1) Please use mild curses like " Crap" "Stupid". But please dont curse like so:
Quote: "Crap! What the hell are you doing fool! You just assed my partner here. You are freakin going to pay!" Said Johan in a loud a** tone. He pulled out a crap load of a**-wipe eaters and shoved them in the Biotches face" You will be banned if a Moderator catches you Role Playing like so. So please, Dont over due it with cursing.2) I also have to add this rule. It is pretty important and must be folowed be everyone. This important rule is cybering. DO NOT CYBER! This entire guild is rated PG13.. lets keep it that way, okay? And that wraps it up about the Behavior rules. If I see somthing bad going on and it is important to add another rule to this fourm I will do so. So please check back once in a while.

But this time the General Rules will be about role playing. arrow Dont be rude to other people, treat them with respect arrow Really.. be nice arrow PG13 ONLY note: I have knoticed that the entire site of Gaia is PG13.. so if you make a RP rated M its just like you are breaking the sites rules.. so dont make anything higher than PG13. arrow Stay in an RP for more than a day, this is a long term RP guild. arrow DO NOT CYBER! Keep it clean. Romance is OKAY just dont over due it.. arrow : idea Please try to be literate. That means type more than 3/2 sentences rolleyes idea arrow No auto hits. How to RolePlay in an Orderly Matter As we all know we have to Role Play safely and in a logical point of view so I will tell you the main do's and don't's to Role playing. To role play well dont constantly change the setting every 5 minutes. Exsample:
Quote: Jimmy walked down the street singing a happy tune. Then whe walked into the "Mocha Coke 'ya" Cafe. He sat down then after a few min he ran down the strreet to Unicorn land. After the ran he wented (( Bad grammar needed)) to Heaven from a random shot of a gun from Victoria ave which he went to after he came from Unicorn Land. Do you see how bad that sounds? So please this is NOT somthing I suggest you do.Somthing you should do is to type more than 3 or 2 sentences. seriously, it gets anoying. Another exsample:
Quote: KK felt sad. He was alone. So he died. Compare that to: Quote: Kenneth Walked down a alley. he felt all alone. The howl of the late autumn breeze swooshed around the dark city he was in. Everything to him seemed dead, nothing around him computed into his mind. Kenneth sat on a near by bench. Looking around the empty streets made him feel depressed. Kenneth bit his lower lip and a tear went down his cheek. He looked up into the sky and saw a light . the last words Kenneth said before he died was " I wish I was like a bird. A bird who could fly and see the never ending ocean and the great blue skys.. at least they could get away from humanity..He took one last breath and died in the spot. Now then.. did you not feel the emotion in that? You should Role Play similar to that. In all; Role play good and type more than 3 sentences. With that I will leave you. Please be sure to check up on this later and Role Play with respect! I will see you in the fourms ^_^

Oh, and in case you don''t know, here are the definitions of what is NOT allowed in Role Playing in this guild:
Mary Suing- Mary Suing is when you make your character basically invincible. They can't lose. They are better then other characters, and triumph. WRONG! An example of Mary Suing would be: "No you did not just hit my character with a fire ball! I dodged it!" NO. WRONG WRONG WRONG. You do NOT dodge it, you WILL get hit. And think what would happen if your character got hit by a fireball. Rain would not suddenly come down and make the fire go away.
Godmoding- Godemoding is when your characters doesn't give the other character a chance to fight back, in like a duel or something. This is also not allowed; To make it simple, it's not giving another person time to react to something. example: She attacked him from behind ripping his back to shreds. What's accepted: She attacked from behind, hoping to rip his back to shreds.
Power playing: Power playing is role playing someone else's characters. NOT ALLOWED, UNLESS THE PERSON HAS GIVEN YOU PERMISION (which is very unlikely!)!. You can not make the reaction of another person. An example is "Melissa:Melissa sighed and Ken- next to her- sighed as well. Ken looked around and smiled at Melissa. Ken: (( Hey, I actually wanted Ken to rip her back to shreds! )) twisted "

AND IF YOU STILL DON'T GET IT ■ → GODMODING AND POWER PLAYERING - YEAH THERE IS A DIFFERENCE ← ●
For my first rant I was going to do something along the lines of literacy. Since we all know the debate behind it, the continuous war about length, ‘quality over quantity’ and the arbitrary crap about how the terms are wrong or right or something! I however decided against bitching about a huge topic like that, I’ll save it for later! I have instead decided to lean towards a lovely topic known as ‘god moding’ and ‘power playing’.
As we all know those are the two terms every role play, this side of the moon should know when walking into the RP game world! A game world that I would like to FOREWARN will suck your soul out of your eye sockets faster then WoW. On the other hand from my experience on Gaia I’ve come to think that people really don’t know what god moding and power playing is! Okay they GENERALLY know, which I guess is all you need on a site flooded with teenage romance role plays where god moding and power playing NEVER happen!
You see I started role playing in live chat rooms. This experience of role playing is far different then boards. I guess you could compare a live chat room to an instant messenger role play but add about, oh say 10 or more people in one IM window! Then the comparison is a little more accurate! Now this is where I learned of the terms ‘God Moding’ and ‘Power Playing’ I would like to mention they are two different but similar terms! I was taught that these terms relate to role play battles. They were terms used to label players that have their characters become over powered, dodge attacks, never take hits but somehow land all of their own, never die, come back alive after they’ve died (without the assist of a priest or shaman or someone with the ability to resurrect), claim they did not die or become invincible (god like). I also learned that god moding is different then power player.
Now let me take a trip down side track lane and allow me to state. I do not do role play battles; I am not skilled in that department. I have witnessed role play battles and have taken part in some, with a friend whom years ago had attempted to couch me through the gritty world of ‘Speed Battles’. I’m also basing this information on what I know from seven years of role playing. Some people have been at it longer then me and I could be wrong! So I can’t claim I’m 100% correct but I think that I’ll be able to define the differences between the two terms, bare with me!
To start lets define ‘god moding’ which by the name alone should scream “YOU’RE AN UNFAIR CHEATING a** WIPE!” and if it doesn’t then now it should! The term god moding can be broken down into two words ‘GOD’ and ‘MODE’ and defined by Dictionary.com Unabridged Version 1.1:
---------------God – (Noun) --------------------1.the one Supreme Being, the creator and ruler of the universe.
---------------Mode – (Noun) --------------------1.a manner of acting or doing; method; way: modern modes of transportation.
It can be seen that ‘god moding’ is a form of ultimate and unlimited control. This term to some people encompasses a WIDE rage of things, for me it labels one kind of player/character. This player is the one person who can’t admit defeat, a power player by nature who has finally snapped and decided that ‘HE/SHE IS THE ULTIMATE AND CAN NOT BE STOPPED’. Now remember this term was used for battles and a godmoder is that player whose character was killed legitimately and the player declares they did not die. They tend to take a position of ‘GOD’ or invincibility and kill off everything; they disregard all rules and ******** everything over. At which point in a live chat room they would be kicked for being a godmoder!
However here on Gaia a godmoder or the act of godmoding is a little different. Since most of the time the term isn’t used to define a battle situation but an overall problem of ‘character control’. What do you mean Strude? Well simply like with a battle godmoder (where the term was originally applied) a godmoder on Gaia is someone that takes control of characters. They do not just mention or make up something to fill in a blank within a story, by mentioning something that didn’t happen but makes logical sense by using other player’s characters. They literally control someone else’s character completely. Either killing off that person’s character, making the character do something against its players will and like a battle godmoder they play god and control all aspects of all characters and all situation!
So clearly a godmoder and the act of godmodding is simply someone with a severe case of egotism or pants on head retarded I R A SPOILED BRAT FEED ME PRAISE! How is a power player any different you are now asking and to amuse myself and to see if I can manage to prove a difference. I will now define a power player and hopefully do it right!
Lets look at the words power player and to do so lets refer back to dictionary.com unabridged version 1.1 and see what the two words mean:
---------------Power – (noun) --------------------1.ability to do or act; capability of doing or accomplishing something. --------------------3.great or marked ability to do or act; strength; might; force.
---------------Player – (Noun) --------------------1.a person or thing that plays. --------------------2.a person who takes part or is skilled in some game or sport.
From the definitions we can see that a power player is a player (the person controlling a character) who exerts power over a situation. The act of power playing is accentually a milder form of godmoding. Like godmoding power playing was used as a term to define a certain player within a battle situation. The difference being that a power player pulls stunts such as: dodging an attack from the opposing player when they are clearly in a position where a block is impossible.
A power player also dose things like adding abilities to their characters. Such as a magic attack they never originally had. Using an attack they never knew. Essential the player who power plays tweaks their character to somehow have the upper hand in a battle situation. They do not necessarily godmod they do allow you take get hits off, sometimes multiple hits but the flip is their character takes little to no damage for some reason or they heal themselves in the middle, when the character would have been unable to cast a heal. You see a power player dose follow the rules but they manipulate their character to over power the enemy!
On Gaia I’d like to say power playing is different but it really isn’t. The same idea applies but the way it is applied is different, simply because it relates to all aspects of characters, situations and plot as well as battle. You see a power player is simply someone that takes a moment to be better then the rest. They never went into ‘god mode’ and godmoded. They simply become for the time being a little better then everyone else. They usually revert to a normal status quo but it pisses people off none the less.
By this point in time I can assume you’re asking yourself what the hell is the point? I’m going to tell you that the point is that I find people on Gaia tend to lump the two terms ‘godmoding’ and ‘power player’ into one general act of ‘don’t control my character’. When clearly they are different for different reasons and should not be lumped together mindlessly.
So the next time you make a search thread or a set of rules you’ll be informed enough to know the difference. Godmoding, being a severe act that in any role play will result in an a** whooping from every Tom d**k and Harry this side of Barton Town. While power playing is simply something you should keep a check on and try not to do! However as mild as I might sound I will state you should NEVER godmod or power play, its cheap unfair and seriously its grade school behavior. Take your hits and stop trying to be god!
-Strude (George)
