About
Elnara has had a very complicated life for all that she's still young, and she has been through many things that most people never will (and never want to).
Elnara was born in the year 3437 of the Third Age to Garrick and Serenity Aldrich. At one year of age, their home was destroyed in an attempt to destroy all of them. They fled to Tor Karad with the few others who survived the explosions, where they found that they still were not safe. After an attempt on Elnara's life, her parents brought her to Chansond'eau on the eve of what turned out to be the Queen, her greatgrandmother's, murder.
The Great War began, and though Elnara was safe in the Westland, she understood what was going on. After the war was over, her parents brought her back home, and they, along with the very few who remained of their hired help, returned to the plantation and rebuilt their lives.
Elnara was blessed with eight younger brothers: Elrohir, Ruel and Riordan, Gion, Reave, Rigel, Shea and Mikhail. Together, they had a wonderful childhood on the plantation. When Elnara was thirteen years old, her mother mysteriously disappeared. Shortly thereafter, her father was murdered, and all nine children were brought to the castle in Tor Karad, to be raised by their grandparents, the Queen and King of the Southland Elves. During her time there, Elnara met a man named Aranhil, whom she dated for a short while before growing annoyed with castle life.
At fourteen, she left, vanishing one night just has her mother had done, in order to go and find her. She was young and inexperienced, and often sought out strangers to spend nights with while she traveled the forests, for safety. Less than a year into her wanderings, she chose to spend one night with a group of men who waited until she was asleep, then tied and gang-raped her. Terrified, violated, ashamed and bursting with righteous anger, she, for the first time in her life, gave in to her shapeshifting instincts. She not only caught up with the men, but killed them and, lost in the instincts of the moor cat's body she was in, devoured them.
For the next four years, she avoided contact with all creatures not animal, terrified of a repeat of what had happened to her. And still, she searched for her mother.
One day, in her nineteenth year, she found herself completely lost, somewhere she had never been before. A moment later, she found herself in a completely different world: Gaia. The world was so radically different from her own, and yet that fact did not terrify her half so much as the many crowds of people that seemed to be everywhere. Looking for somewhere to hide herself away, she found a run-down looking cafe with a catty human - a neko, as she later learned - washing the outside window. He invited her inside for a drink, and she accepted warily. She soon learned that the neko - Triton - was quite trustworthy, and slowly, over time, learned to feel safe around the company of others.
During the time since her rape, she had lost control of her magicks: firecasting and healing; and while in Gaia she enrolled in a school where she learned once again to control them. Ironically, this school was run by Triton's mother, Kara Winters, and Elnara's teacher was Yukito Winters, Triton's brother. He was also a healer, and after gaining Elnara's trust, worked with her to heal her mind and her soul.
Triton offered Elnara a room at the cafe, and she soon began to call it home. She met many people there, many of them good, some that frightened her, but she continually felt herself growing stronger, both physically and emotionally. For four Gaian months she lived there, until Yukito created a portal to send Elnara back home. Triton accompanied her as her bodyguard - and for an adventure - but by the end, not only had the two of them come, but also Kara, Jin (Kara's youngest), Donovan Lau (Kara's Life Management Assistant), Yukito and Yue (Yukito's twin).
Elnara was shocked to discover many things on her journey home. First: the time difference. In the four months that she had spent in Gaia, more than six years had passed in her homeland. Second: she had more family than she knew: on their journey, she and Triton saved a boy (Daeron, who turned out to be her nephew) from child slave traders. Third, she found her mother and discovered that she had been chased away from their family because she was a shapeshifter, and that Elnara's father had been killed because Serenity had tried to go back and see him. Fourth, she discovered that though she had been gone for so long, Aranhil still very much liked - and, she suspected, loved - her. Fifth, that her brothers, although at first glad to have her back, were no different (for the most part) from the men who had chased off their mother: once they found out that Elnara was a shapeshifter, they rejected her as well.
Knowing that she could never again belong in the Four Lands after knowing the freedom of Gaia, Elnara returned, where she was adopted by the Winters family.
