Okay, guess I should kind of make sense of what this about :p...
Yesterday, I decided to take a trek down to DisneyQuest, the 5-story arcade at Downtown Disney in Orlando. Day off, woot!...Anyway, after playing my fill of DDR and other random arcade games, I made my way to the 4th floor, where the token-munching, ticket-spewing variety of games reigned supreme. Funny thing is, I didn't notice on my earlier runs that day what I had noticed at that particular time...
Before me stood a....okay, so I don't know WHAT the correct term for this type of game is, but it was heavily themed of Sonic Adventure. It was one of those games where you have to stop two markers that revolved inside of a range of various prize amounts, in this case, spinning SA character art of Sonic and Tails. The machine itself donned tons of SA character art...nothing new, mind you, but still neat nonetheless. Plus the game would play a sample of the Twinkle Park theme every so often.
Didn't actually get a chance to play the game; moreso I just wanted to look at it (hey, I had just spent about $9 on a hot dog, fries, and drink...I didn't feel like spending any more money :p)...Perhaps next time, though.
Anyway, has anyone else had an unexpected encounter of the Sonic variety? Something that took you by surprise, whether it was greatly impressive or not?

Once at school my friend brought a Sonic piggy bank once. I was like "They make piggy banks?" and he said that he just bought it at some flea market. When I went there, all I found was Garfield and Pokemon stuff.
Another time I saw Sonic Adventure card game in a japanese oreinted shop. At firt i thought it wa playing cards, but then I saw it was just cards showing old games, listing characters and just nothing I really needed at the time.
There needs to be a Knothole card game, just because everyone would try it once just to see what it is.

i was sorely dissapointed to descover that i'd missed out meeting sonic and tails themselves at one of the games shops in wolverhampton during the early summer. i saw the photos of them hugging/posing alongside various people and children. alas!
(who cares if the costumes weren't brilliant, i just wanted to be in one of the photos! :p)
and that nurse is cool. ^^ the only other person i've seen with sonic-themed clothing was a little boy at a camp i was helping out at, he was wearing a pullover covered in pictures.

i was at old town in orlando (to eat at the checkers. if your from florida and you've ever been to old town you know what i'm talking about) anyhow i was wearing my lucky sonic hat (just as a side note) and i noticed there that they had hanging up a bunch of thoses big sonic and knuckles dolls. they were the big sized prizes at one of those rip off games. it was one of thoses water gun contests were theres always a winner (but it's never you) and knuckles dolls were straped to the things that go up to determine the winner. they got no money from me i never play carnival games.

Doesn't quite count, I know - but when I was at Dragon*Con, one of the dealers' room stall had a Cream UFO catcher for sale over the counter.
Since those were one of the first SX items released, are now no longer in production and I haven't even seen one on eBay in 18 months (and a 2nd edition Rouge will sell for $100, so I don't want to think about what Cream would sell for), it was something of a shock.
Although pointing this out to the guys I was with rather surprised them with my Sonic geekiness. smile

I don't think this quite counts, but... Not long ago I was in a solon getting my hair dyed, and this woman walks in with this little kid who's wearing a Sonic X t-shirt. It took every ounce of my strength to not freak out and start yelling "YEE Sonic!" O_o;;
Umm. There's a Sonic resturant in town too XD I'm eating a chili dog from it right now *snrrk* The logo uses the same font too... When we were going to get it my step dad made a comment that I was going to go eat a hedgehog O_o

A more recent sighting occurred earlier today, pleasantly surprising me.
Not sure how familiar everybody is with the Gametap ads airing on Cartoon Network (and possibly other channels; I'm not sure on that), featuring classic games like Pac-Man and Dig-Dug.
Well, the most current one features....*fanfare* Sonic 2. Starts off with a regular scene showing Sonic and Tails running through the first level, then cuts to the Death Egg, where a 3D-rendered Silver Sonic and Eggman converse while waiting for Sonic to arrive. I can't remember all the dialogue, but it is a rather funny commercial, and I got a real kick out of it. Needless to say, a must to be downloaded when and if it can be found online.

eggman:"oh nothing just waiting, god I hate waiting.........any chance of you getting me a cup of coffe"
metal S:" sure supersize or grande?"
eggman:"whitch ones bigger?"
metal S:"I don't know"
eggman:"whitch one is bigger?"
metal S:"I don't know"
eggman:" uhhhh, large then I guess"
*end commercial*
