Lavi busied herself finishing cleaning the house, intent on making the little unoticeable[sp] dirty portions of the house non existant in preperation for the company. Dusting here, wiping that, the only surface that she left unwiped was the wall she had had enchanted for Ayame when the little one decided it was the perfect surface to draw and doodle on, as she now found her little one doing.
Ayame wore a simple outfit, a pair of overalls, faded to a near white sky blue and a pale pink shirt with stitched ruby red roses and small emerald green vines that seemed to dance along the seam of the shirt sleeves. The back of the overalls had a slit cut into them to allow room for her wings which fluttered with a little non rythmatic hum as she doodled, her hair flopping forward into her face from time to time only to be brushed aside by the red crayon she clenched in her hand. As Lavi picked up crayon wrappers around her she plopped back to admire her work and gain a hug from Lavi for the newest piece. Despite the comfortable warmth of the house she could still feel the warmth of Lavi's skin against hers, which was enough alone to produce a broad grin.
Lavi ruffled Ayames hair and went on into the kitchen, glancing out the frosted window as she discarded the bits of paper to check for the guests arrival. Not catching sight of them she turned her attentions to preparing Ayames lunch and drinks and a snack for the expected guests. She smiled happily as she set out the extra glasses on the table about the fun she hoped Ayame would have and the thought of a possible friend for her little butterfly girl.

Aure muddled up the driveway, unable to believe that Rosiel had screwed her over like this. Going to see a baby, just because she never spent time outside her room when she was home, and it was short notice! Short notice. Great excuse, funny.
She knocked on the door, ignoring the prominent doorbell. "Hello?" she yelled irritably, shouldering her green backpack again.

Lavi turned to face the door at the knock, smiling lightly as she answered a rather annoyed voice. No surprise, it was rather cold out still, and wet to boot.
"One moment, let me get the door!"
She hurried to the door, brushing off her shirt as if there was something on it, unawares of Ayame's new doodle that was, impressively, having colors beyond the red from her favored crayon added to it as it took form of the personality she felt raging outside the door. A throne, servants, and an actual likeness were beginning to form, though only the main figure with it's olive branch appearing crown held any real semblance.
Lavi turned the lock and swung the door open and ushered the girl inside where it was much warmer and certainly more pleasant. The girls attitude was...different...but she kept her own decent as she offered a mug of warmed cider that she had taken from the table to Aure.
"I'm Lavi, i'm glad you could make it, unless she's changed her attentions Ayame will be just behind me by the wall."

Aure smiled painfully, remembering to mind her p's and q's. "Thank you, miss Lavi. Thank you for allowing me into your fine home." Her mental Grandfather relaxed, patting her on the head. If she behaved, Grandpa would let her go to the Akibi district with him tomorrow... She took a polite sip of the cider. It tasted like the drink they served at breakfast at school, only a little tarter. The dragonfly girl inclined her head and went to look at the wall, sitting down near the silver-haired baby. Why is there no one my age in my own kind, she thought sourly, but her face was schooled into quiet submission to the inevitable force of... mothers.
"That's a nice picture." She gave the wall an opaque stare, like she wasn't really seeing it but she was seeing it. "You like to draw?"

Lavi let a grin come to her face as aure's attentions quickly left the cider and fell onto her little ayame with apparent interest. She sat back into her seat and relaxed into the comfortable cushions. Best for her to stay out of the way unless Ayame needed to be nudged in the right direction.
Ayame turned at the voice and looked up. This was the one she had felt outside! The feelings she was getting from the girl seemed less stressed now, though there was something still... She beamed at the compliment and held up her grounds gleefully at the question, "Yes!" The word was abrupt, and the pride in her voice helped it hold it's own as a sentence. She frowned shortly after and looked back at her drawing and back at the girl. Something felt funny as she stared at the drawing and flashed her attention to the feelers in the girls hair, then back to her drawing as she slowly felt a need to give name to her work. with slow consideration she pondered before struggling to her feet, none to little off balance, and stumbled over the few feet of distance to the girl.
"Aure!" Ayame very near shouted, pointing at the wall as she settled herself beside the girl, using her knee for support. She gave an open mouthed smile of satisfaction with the name for the picture and repeated it, trying to specifically point at her drawing as she clung feebly to the girls knee. "It Aure!" she felt herself glow with triumph, too overcome with her own satisfaction to notice the growing intensity of light coming off of her.
What Lavi saw next shocked her as Ayame held out her prized red crayon to the girl as she pointed with evident pride at the wall. What was going through Ayame's head, she wondered. The little one hardly ever let that crayon go...

"Uh, okay," Aure said, unimpressed; she didn't understand the significance of the red crayon at all, apparently. The glow didn't faze her either. She carefully picked up Ayame, muttering, "My knee is not a table, kay, thanks," as she did so and doodled vague diagrams of glucose, fructose, and galactose on the walls. While, perhaps, not as artistic as the baby's art, it did have a certain technological appeal to it.
Besides, she might as well study while she was here.

Ayame watched somewhat in dismay as the girl moved her away and began to draw weird shapes on HER wall, and not even showing any interest in her newest creation.
She turned to Lavi, hoping for some sort of reaction, but got little more then a soft smile. She turned around, pouting and looked carefully at the other girls "art". they were balls and lines and didn't even look like anything Ayame had ever seen. eager to discover more about what it might be, the incident of the crayon pushed to the back of her mind, she hurried over to the girls side and put a small but firm gripping hand on the girls leg and gave it a little shake, trying to get her attention. She pointed earnestly at the diagrams as she worked up the words she knew were right. "What- do-you-draw?" the words sounded forced as Ayame spoke them, her mind working hard as she thought if she had said the right things. She held onto Aure's leg as she looked over the drawing and then crudely copied the diagram, adding her own touches to make it something more real to her, maybe if she copied some of it....
Lavi chuckled to herself. Ayame was making such an effort, what was it about Aure that her little one was so fascinated by..."Aure, i'm certain you were told before you came that i would need you to keep an eye on Ayame for a little while for me. Since she's taken so well to you, it seems, is there anything i could get you while i'm out?" Lavi wasn't sure how Ayame would act to her leaving her with the girl, but her infatuation might well be enough to keep her occupied at least long enough for her to finish her errands. Lavi knew that if her parent hadn't thought Aure capable of the task she wouldn't have sent her, if nothing else at least the girl seemed eager to learn. Perhaps she had some books still that Aure might find worth using. She would look when she returned, she decided, as she waited for Aure's response.

Aure shook her head. "No, ma'am, I'm fine." Turning back to Ayame, she said, "It's sugar. Except in a simplified form. Real sugars are much bigger than this wall and are called carbohydrates." Her ears fluttered slightly and she rubbed at the carbohydrate chains, watching them vanish completely. She shrugged. "Bye, miss Lavi."

Lavi nodded and Left without another word, smiling at Ayame as she shut the door behind her.
Ayame looked at the figure more skeptically, that meant sugar? but wasn't sugar white? and smaller? "Carbohydrates?" She smiled, satisfied with being able to say the word nearly if not exactly right. Aure knew so much... "What do I look like in your drawings" If nothing else it seemed talking with other illusions was helping her speech; she could tell, and was quite pleased with herself.
Question upon question followed in slow succession, even without offering Aure the opportunity to respond, her eagerness to understand getting the better of her manners.
"You are smart, I want to be like you!" She grinned broadly and looked up to try and make eye contact...she was so tall. Then it dawned on her, did the other girl know her name? She was positive from her own drawing that this girl was Aure...but....she blushed and poked at the girls knee while she was talking. "I...I am Ayame." she looked so embarassed, having been caught up by things to forget something so simple.

The blonde girl thought about this for a moment and started to write a very, very, very, very, veryvery long chain of various molecules. She stopped at about a foot of inch-high lines. "This is the basic formula required to create beings like us." She poked at it. "Saltpeter, phosphorous, nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, magnesium, and sulfur..."

Ayame stared at the diagram as the girl told her the names of the various elements and more, though the understanding of what some of it was evaded her. She took on a blank look as her attention fell fully into the drawings and she absorbed some of what was being told to her.
As the girl reached the end of the list of "elements", as she had called each of them, Ayame quietly nodded in request for more of this interesting and diverse information. Her hand remained clasped on the girl's thigh near her knee as she reached what elements she oculd and could remember the names of and repeated them in slow calculated effort.

Her teeth were already gritted with exasperation. Why would this kid not let go? Still, she pretended that she was a statue in an effort to appear about this little cling-on. "Very good," she said, and her voice betrayed none of the 'god, why can't it just take a nap' that she was feeling. "Now, this chain here is H2O, or water, and that makes up 75% of us."

Even though half of what she was being told made no sense to her at all she found it fascinating. She released Aure's leg and approached the wall to gaze at it, rather amazed with all the sketchings.
After a moment she turned around and smiled up at Aureilus[sp]. Ayame reached up a hand and waved to try and get Aure's attention as she seemed to be more focused on the wall. A question had entered her mind, and she wanted to know if she was right from this girl who knew everything.
"What is a friend?" compared to everything she had said before, she spoke these word's clearly, without a stutter, pause or stretch.

She sighed. "It's someone who cares about you, of course," Aure said, as if this were one of the most obvious things in the world. "People who're honest." Her shoulders lifted once and settled back as she sat down.

Ayame looked back at the wall and it's coating of varied molecules as she thought slowly about what Aure had said. So...Lavi was her friend on top of everything else but...."Is Ayame Aure's friend?" The whole mess barely made sense, but if anyone but Lavi could explain it better...maybe if she asked the right questions...Aure would let make it make sense. Resolved, she stared intently at Aure. She would figure this out, there had to be a satisfactory answer.
