This has been a very interesting Valentine's day. Instead of the normal rituals of girls going out on dates with guys and I opt to stay home and throw darts at a dart board, I spent it here with Raziel. But that wasn't the strange part. The really bizzar part was that I found another baby Pae. She was swaddled up in a pink blanket with hearts of all different colors over her.

She held the soft colors of pastels on her, so I named her Pastela, and Stela for short.

This afternoon, while Raziel and Pastela were drawing in the sand at the shores of the lake we're living near, I saw something interesting out of the corner of my eye. At first, after remembering the date, I thought it was a leprechaun, since it was Saint Patrick's Day. When I went over to the reeds, however, I found a small stone colored Pae with the most adorable kiss mark on his cheek. When I brought him back to the others, Pastela instantly took an attachment to him. Raziel took one look at him, however and instantly became protective over his two younger siblings.

I think, because he reminds me of rocks, I will name him Shale.

Today, I was so worried about Pastela. Raziel and I had our hands full with poor Shale and his belly ache from eating something he probably shouldn't have, and Stela wandered off! Thank goodness Woobie found her, an adult Pae who seems very nice. I'm glad that she was in good hands.

Pastela

Woobie sat on the ground under a large tree. He had his three most trusted squirrels by his side, Sarge, Cheif, and General. "Well, what we need is more ammo!" Woobie was gearing up for another sneak attack on some unsuspecting paes.

Pastela was crawling through the forest, her little feather wings fluffing and fluttering as she moved. She wasn't strong enough to walk yet, but she was learning fast on how to talk. Skinning her knee on some rough roots, she started to cry, even though there was no blood.

"What was that?" Woobie asked as the crying started. He swung from the tree limbs to see a toddler pae crying on the forest floor.

Woobie did a flip out of the tree and landed nimbly next to her. "Why are you crying? Where's your parents?" Woobir turned to his squirrel troops, "Beeries, now!" THey ran off to do as they were told.

Pastela blinked, seeing the larger person land on the ground in front of her. Blinking and rubbing the tears from her now red face, she say he had wings and a tail, much like Raziel. "Who you?" She asked, innocently looking up at him.

Woobie ast down and looked at the toddler, "I'm Woobie, but my importantly, who are you? Where are you parents?" He was crazy most of the time, but he would have never left his kids by themselves!

The little toddler smiled, pointing to herself. "Me Pastewa! I no have a daddy or mommy, bu' I haf Koowee, Raveel, and baby Shawe." She then giggled, a little proud. "I go off looking fow mommy!" The little Pae had a small problem pronouncing 'l's and 'r's sometimes, but it didn't stop her from trying.

Woobie listened as the toddler talked. It was one of those toddler, like himself. "Oh, I didn't have a Mom or Dad neither." Just then the squirrels brough him a few berries. "Hungry?" Woobie asked as he took then and handed them to her.

Pastela's eyes widened to the size of dish plates when she saw the squirrels. "Fuwwy!" She reached her hands out to one, trying to reach and grab it. She'd seen these high up in the trees, but never so close before!

"Eeep!" Sarge said as he ran from the toddler.

Woobie chuckled, "Sarge doesn't really like to be petted. Sorry.." Wobbie then grabbed Chief and held him softly. "Want to pet Cheif? He on the other hand loves petting."

Pastela smiled widely and reached out for Chief. "Yes! Pastewa wanna pet!" She was excited enough that her little feather wings were trembling and fluttering.

Woobie chuckled, "Ok! Here you go, now be gentle." He slowly put the squirrel in her lap and smiiled at them both. He hoped this would cheer the young pae up.

Pastela giggled, cuddling the squirrel. Her wings were fluffing up again as she flapped them happily. Burring her face into the squirrel's fur, she did her best to pet him softly. Turning her eyes to Woobie, she giggled, smilingly largely and brightly. "Tank you!"

"You're welcome. I'm Woobie by the way." He thought he should introduce himself so the girl would know what to call him.
That as I have said if Chief."

Pastela carefully repeated his name. "Woo....bie... Woobie!" She felt so proud of herself, able to pronounce the entire name. "Woobie!" She said once more for good measure, giggling a bit more. Her wings continued to fluter, even though they did nothing to move the mass of toddler.

Woobie smiled, "So, where do you live?" He wondred if she was missing and if someone was looking for her. "Maybe I should take you there?"

Pastela blinked. "No have home. Koowee lives awound in fowest with Waviel an baby Shale." She looked up at Woobie with an innocent smile. "Koowie busy wid Waviel and Shale, not see Pastewa go away a little." She didn't think she was doing anything wrong by exploring her surroundings, besides, it had led her to a new friend.

Wobbie listened and nodded, "So, you don't want to go back for a while? Or you do?" He didn't mind watching her for a bit longer. His kids had grown up a long time ago.

Patela shook her head. "Pastewa wanna stay here wid Woobie! Woobie fun!" Giggling, she rocked on her bottom, her wings spread out to keep her balance.

Woobie smiled, "Well, ok, but only for a little bit." He laid back onto her elbows and then grinned at the little toddler. "So, you wanna play a game?" He knew all sorts, but only a few a toddler could play. "Or you wanna watch me do tricks?" He was always up for that.

Pastela's eyes widened in glee when games were mentioned, then a large grin appeared on her face when tricks were mentiond. "Oh oh, Pastewa can't choose. Woobie choose!"

Woobie liked this, it was like having a captive audience...excpet she wasn't really a captive. "How about a few tricks and then a game?"

Woobie stood up and then flipped over into a handstand and then started walked around Pastela on his hands. "How do you like my handwalking?" He asked as he did it with ease.

Pastela's jaw dropped in amazment. "Woooooooow! Woobie is uppy-side down!" She clapped her hands together, wondering what other amazing things this Pae could do.

Woobie chuckled, "You like this?" He then took one hand off the ground to where he had all his wieght on one arm. Next he bounced up and down on that arm. "What about that?"

Pastela's eyes, if they could, widened even more. She giggled and clapped more. "YAY! Yaaaay!" She was rocking back and forth again, her wings fluttering fast, almost humming.

Woobie smiled bigger and then put his hand down on the gournd. Next he rolled into a summersault. "For my next trick I will swing from tree limb to tree limb." He announced with his best ring leader voice.

Woobie jumped up into the tree and then swung from his legs. He went faster and faster until he was at the right speed, he then let go of the tree and grabbed the next limb with his hands, swung up into it and then peered down at Pastela, "Ta da!"

Pastela jaw dropped again, watching in amazment as Woobie swung from one tree to another. "Ahhhhhhh, Do it again!" She giggled and clapped more.

Woobie smiled, "I think I can just about manage that!" He swung againg for tree to tree. This time going on to a third tree where he flipped over the limb and then landed on the ground with his arms above his head.

Pastela squealed in delight and claped her hands again. "Ohhhhhh! Do it again Woobie, do it again!" She clearly was having great joy in watching him.

Woobie chuckled, "Again? Really?" Woobie then took to the trees and this time did four trees in a row. He landed on the ground again, but this time a bit out of breath.

Pastela giggled and clapped loudly again, then stopped, tilting her head and looking up at Woobie, seeing him breathing a little harder. "Woobie tired?" She blinked a few times innocently.
