Hi hi,

I need to make two of these hats by hand:

Only in black, mind you.

It looks easy enough to do, but I could use a few tips. For the top bit, how much should I measure? Obviously for the band around, I need to do head measurements, but for the top?

Also, is there any pattern, free or very very cheap (I'm on a tight budget) that I should follow, or should I just go ahead and make my own?

Agreed smile . Even without the patterns, it would still be a pretty easy hat to make. I don't make alot of hats, but from looking at the cap, I think even a beginner shouldn't have alot of trouble with it. Basically it's just a large round piece of fabric bunched around the rim of the hat to give it its poof, and then the visor part is added.

Of course, readily-made patterns are always preferred for anyone who isn't used to making hats over taking a stab at drawing a custom one (like me b/c I'm a bit of a daredevil like that pirate ). Best of luck with the hat!
