Any students of ceremonial magic, how do you feel about Donal Michael Kraig's Modern Magick? Seeing the references to both the LBRP and the Middle Pillar made me dust the book off. It was my easy to chew intro to ceremonial, but I've heard opnions are variable on it.
BTW, Khalida, I really enjoy both of these rituals.

Looks like an old fasion spell that relies on faith in the magick and hardly shows results if one doesnt know the results.

This and the other ritual I posted were both things done by Crowley and students of Crowley... and Crowley was all about proof. I say the rituals would not have been done, unless they really did something.

...I thought Crowley was all about living like a rockstar/god.

Yvaine ...I thought Crowley was all about living like a rockstar/god. Oh, he was. He really was. But when it came to the metaphysical, he wouldn't believe it unless it could be verified/proven. He would not bother with something that had no real possibility of being "true." He had a scientific approach to magick, you could say.

Just like in the MP thread...
reasons for doing the LBRP:
1. Build Memory
2. Familiarise(I can not spell that word today...) with the Qabalah
3. Having just performed a banishing, spirits will then leave you alone, as they have been driven from the area.
4. Creates a temporary holy space, and will allow a person to then perform the Banishing Ritual of the Hexagrm
5. By the chanting of the different names of God, you imprint them onto your soul/aura/et cetera.
6. Helps get you familiar with ritualistic/ceremonial magick
7. Helps you visualize
8. Helps you to remember the four quadrants (and their elemental correspondance)
9. Gets you ready to work with angels at a later point in time
10. The back bone and start of all real ceremonies, thelemic or not (meaning that all of them start with a banishing).
There is yer list of 10 reasons to practice this.

You mean the scientific method. Of course the results don't always match your hypothesis, if they did then you would be doing it wrong.
Don't you think the "old fashioned" spells were made and are kept for a reason, hmm? Who (besides me) would feel any drive or reason to create a totally ineffective magical spell? And if not, I bet that means this spell has some merit, aside from the merits from believing in it.

This isn't really a spell in and of itself... It gathers its power from Holy names, and then creates a hallowed place while banishing lesser powers, and providing protection for the "caster."
The complete banishing would be to do the LBRP then follow it with the Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram. That is the complete banishment...
No faith in the magick to work needed... but I'm sure it helps.
